Can quite literally do the "impossible". I have a 35+ year old Seiko watch that I was given by my parents, and the battery was shot. The place I had been going to for decades had mysteriously disappeared, and every other shop had said it was old enough that replacing the battery would ruin the watch. The proprietor looked at the watch, asked three questions, and shortly thereafter he had done the "impossible" repair. Fantastic experience - I will DEFINITELY be back. read more

I prefer to do business with local, sole proprietor shops and CSS Watch Service doesn't disappoint. One of these days, I'll introduce myself to the owner, who is friendly, gregarious, and a real jokester. I took my old Movado watch in for a new battery. I'd been told by several other watch stores (all chain stores in malls) that it would cost between $30 and $45 to replace the battery since it was a difficult procedure. Ha! CSS Watch Service did it for $15 and I completely trust the workmanship as I've had batteries replaced there before with no problem. The owner even explained a little about Movados and the kind of batteries they require. A sub-standard battery had been in the watch when it died. I needed batteries replaced for two of my retro Casio digital watches, one was completely dead and I figured I'd get the other changed while I was there. I wasn't in a hurry so I dropped them both off on Friday, and asked to pick them up the following Tuesday. I was informed about one watch missing a screw which they replaced, along with the two batteries and they even set the correct times for both. I visit the shop at least monthly to have the pins in my watch band replaced. This summer I had not been in for about 2 months and then finally when I did, the owner was surprised to see me and wondered where I had been. I don't have much to compare this place with, I've not been to other watch repair shops, but I was happy with my experience. Service was prompt and seemed reasonably priced. Again, I don't really know much. The man I did business with was friendly, but quite blunt. Don't take offense with that, though; he's a clear communicator and let's you know if what you're saying doesn't make sense. And good humor to boot. Flat out REFUSED to put my Rolex's serial number on the receipt for me dropping off the watch for repair. Completely acted like I was in the wrong! Completely rude after I asked for my 5000K + watch to have a little proof that I left it there. I'd AVOID and go else where! read more

Worst customer service EVER! Horrible experience! The guy attending today disrespectfully criticized the (Asian) lady he was taking care off when she left, making fun of her and the way she probably reacted to his lack of customer service skills. I got there to get my mother's watch CHECKED first, and get a quote of how much it would be. To all of us it seemed like a battery issue. He took my watch to a back room without even telling me he was already going to work on it, stayed there for about 3-5 minutes and came back saying he had changed the battery. However, he told me the "issue" was not the battery, but a simple button we have to push to make one of the "hands" work... so... why did he changed the battery then? I asked to show me the box/package where the "brand new battery" came from, he only showed me a box full of used batteries, but he charged me full price. I avoided arguing that it was OBVIOUS that he was not being honest with us, because from the get go he definitely looked like an intimidating not inviting at all person I wouldn't want to argue with. But I was kind enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. Button line DO NOT go to this place! Most likely you'll be treated bad, mocked or made fun of, and most likely ripped off. read more

The owner is an ornery old cuss, in just the way you want in a little local shop. Knows his stuff, is friendly in his way, and can help you with a basic watch to high end. Glad I stopped here instead of a jewelry shop. read more

I entered the empty shop to find a woman arranging watches in one of the cases. No greeting. I approached her and told her I needed a screw to repair a Rolex band (I had the screw, not the band) and a watch pin to repair the built-in stand on my cell phone case. She looked at me like I had broccoli growing out of my ears. I handed her the screw and she looked at as if it were the quadratic formula, a completely unknown and unknowable object. After a few seconds, I told her not to worry about the screw, I'd handle it. I then showed her the built-in cell phone stand and told her I needed a pin "this width" (a standard watchband width). She told me she doesn't repair cell phones... :-p I asked if she had pins for watchbands. She responded affirmatively and told me she had boxes of them and then stood there staring at me. She didn't offer to find one, she didn't bring any boxes out for me to rummage through, and she didn't call for help; she just stood there staring at me. I told her this was a very simple request. No response. I grabbed my things and walked out. If you small retailers are wondering why Amazon is doing so well, and you're not, look to your customer service. It's the ONLY thing separating you from the online retailers. I highly recommend avoiding CSS Watch Service. read more
