tldr - if it's related to HVAC, call the installer of your HVAC system if possible…read more I called Green Bear to take a look at an HVAC system (on second floor) that was leaking water on the 1st floor ceiling (due to AC condensation). They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

He came out to discuss our project in person, take measurements, and really listened to my design vision. The project started on time and was completed earlier than expected. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY UNTIL YOUR JOB IS FINISHED *AND* CORRECTLY INSTALLED…read more I deeply regret hiring this fly-by-night operation. Monroe's management/customer relations team has been nothing but disorganized, unresponsive, and full of excuses when it comes to resolving their own procurement and operations problems. Essentially, we've been trying to get them to finish the job that we paid them for in January--almost 4 months ago!! We hired Monroe to replace a wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace, including demo, installing new slate tile trim and hearth and a new mantel. The main work was done in January, and I have nothing but good to say about the subs who actually did this work. They were efficient, professional, worked fine around our pets, and we're happy with the new fireplace. HOWEVER, the mantel that we ordered from Monroe was not right, not even close to expected, so we told the subs not to install it. Monroe agreed to order a replacement, and they demanded that we pay the rest of the invoice in good faith. In the months since, we've contacted Monroe countless times via email and phone, and each time, we have to reintroduce ourselves and re-explain the problem. Each time, Monroe tells us that the mantel is on its way, or it's backordered, or it's in the facility but they haven't scheduled the install yet, or whatever. Damon is always busy/out of the office/will call us back, despite countless messages left on his line. Monroe Fireplace is still blowing us off as I write this.

After looking through many reviews online, we decided to go check out Max Heat showroom (Crown Hill area). Max was great. Knowledgeable and patient. He answered all the questions we had and helped guide us in the right direction! He supplied us with a few brochures, and we went on our way. He sent us a few quotes based on the inserts we were looking at in the shop. We landed on the Solas 48. Since we were taking care of the build out ourselves, I had a lot of questions on how to do so correctly. Max was so helpful in helping us with the schematics and how to build the platform for the insert to sit on. We had to build it perfectly so the fireplace window was centered in the facade. We paid a 50% deposit for the insert, and it was ordered. He kept us in the loop on order status, and was able to schedule the install once he had a firm delivery date. The day Max and his wife came out to do the install, it was one of the hottest days of the summer (go figure!) I had the AC cranked up for them so they were comfortable during the install! They did a wonderful job! Very efficient, friendly and professional! They showed me how to work the controls and recommend I run the fireplace for 3 hours to do the burn off. (This didn't happen until fall!) We love our fireplace! It turned out beautifully! (We outsourced slabs of porcelain for the surround.) We highly recommend Max Heat for any fireplace needs! They are amazing at what they do!!

We bought a gas fireplace insert from this store. I thought I'd leave a review for other people…read morelike me who saw his ad on craigslist and wondered if it was legit. This is a little bit of a long story, but we actually have two gas fireplace inserts, one we bought at Rich's, and one we bought at Cascadia. I'm going to compare the experiences here, so you can see the difference. About a year ago, we went to Rich's and bought a gas fireplace insert. They have a showroom with lots of sales people who can answer your questions. You can see all the stoves they sell and even get financing. We bought a gas insert there that works great. It has multiple settings for the flame, blower, and even has lights. It can be set up to work off a thermostat, and you have choices in what you want the surround, background, and logs to look like. It's also very radiant, so we hardly ever use the blower. We just turn the thing on and soon we're toasty. Rich's set us up with their install people, who pulled the permits, ran the gas line, and did the electrical. They were easy to work with. They came as a team on install day and did the whole thing in a couple of hours. All total, we spent about $6500. Now, I'm not here to review Rich's, I'm here to review Cascadia. I wanted to explain my Rich's experience so I could compare it with what you'll get from Cascadia. $6500 was a lot of money to spend on a gas fireplace. I looked around online and found an ad on Craigslist for an insert + installation for $3000. I emailed the guy to find out what store they were and to see if I can come take a look at the fireplace in person. He emailed back and gave me directions. Cascadia is a small storefront in North Bend. They don't really have a showroom to speak of, and when I told the guy that I was there because of the Craigslist ad, he took me to the back of the store and showed me the three fireplaces he had set up. He turned them all on and explained that they were the same BTU, but the cheaper one was less efficient. I could feel that the other two were more radiant, but they were $1000 more. We opted to get the cheap Craigslist one (although the others sounded like a good deal too). We were set up with a local contractor to do the install. He came out with a partner a couple weeks later and did the work over the course of a day. We had paid for a remote but the installer didn't have it. I called Cascadia later, and was told that they would mail it to me. They did. The fireplace itself is pretty simple: on, off, high, low, and a blower that you must turn on from the side of the unit. There is a remote control, but it's basically just for turning it off and on. There was no choice for log setting (at least I don't remember if there was a choice), and the background is just black (no fake bricks or anything). It doesn't work off a thermostat. It's not as radiant as our first fireplace, so we use the blower more. It's set to heat the same amount of space, but I imagine it might use a little more gas. We just installed it, so we'll have to wait and see after it gets a bit more use. I'm giving Cascadia 5 stars because the sales person was helpful and responsive. I asked a lot of questions about the fireplace we bought (why is it so cheap?), and he gave me satisfactory answers. I feel like a $3000 fireplace was a great deal, and exactly what we were looking for. We really don't need all the additional bells and whistles, just something that will reliably heat our space. If that is what you're looking for Cascadia is a great place.
