*Tesla Charging Spot Driving my Tesla back home, the car starts heating up the battery and tells me to charge. It's like Rosie the Robot, naggin' me! I plugged in and walked toward the rest stop. It says on the sign Starbucks, I can use a cool and refreshing drink. I used the Mens room first, big but not too clean. I walk out and don't see Starbucks? I buy a coconut water instead and my Tesla app tells me I have enough charge to make it home. As I unplug and drive away, I see the Starbucks in a separate building. We stopped at the CT Service Plaza in Madison on our way home from RI to NJ. It's your standard rest stop with all the accoutrements you'd expect - McDonald's, Dunkin, Subway, Mobil gas pumps, EVC, and of course bathrooms. There's also a stand alone Starbucks with drive-thru; you can order ahead of time using the app. read more

I've stopped here a few times on our way to NY but I was like why rate or check into a rest stop on Yelp, well it's about time. It's easy to get in and out. It's usually super busy, but they have tons of parking and a good amount of places inside, plus they move quick. They have McDonald's, Aunty Annie's, Cinnabon, Dunkin, Subway( I think), Alltown and even Starbucks. The restrooms were very clean, and this location was very clean. Shockingly the employees were very nice and worked very fast, but the food was fresh and yummy. For sure a place to stop. The Alltown is like a convenience store and they even had a few CT souvenirs tucked away as well. read more

I-95 Madison SB Service Plaza (1 South St, Madison, CT 06443) is easily accessible off the 95. A pretty standard service station with restrooms, Dunkin, and McDonald's. And the best part is? I-95 is a superhighway here with lots of traffic going too fast (or too slow) and so it was a helpful rest to be able to get out of the van and walk around for a bit. There are two plazas facing each other here, one for northbound and one for southbound. As near as I can tell, they offer the same restaurants and services and even fuel prices. Exxon, Subway, Alltown convenience store, McDonald's, Dunkin. There are restrooms inside and the gas prices are surprisingly not excessive considering the "captive" nature of the plaza. Overnight parking is not permitted and you'll want to be sure to lock your car carefully before walking away from it. I spotted two different spots where windows had been broken. Nice, clean reststop. Surprisingly affordable prices. Friendly people. Not a bad place to catch a quick break during your travels.

We visited the Madison Ct Southbound side. For some reason they seemed to have one of these every 10miles or so, while not far, actually could be because of how much traffic Connecticut seems to always have, probably a good thing to have so many stops for folks. Subway, McDonald's, Mobil gas, Dunkin' donuts. Convenient right here and the outside was nice, inside food court areas were clean enough and there was a convenient TV with travel times - although pretty off b/c I hit a 15min stoppage as soon as I left the plaza (it said 60mph average to the border... ha!). Downside - bathrooms, c'mon, there was pee all over the floor in the men's room. Gotta do better, not sure why there's so much wetness in there, but it was gross - other rest stops clean the bathroom better. read more

Being someone who remembers these Connecticut rest areas during the '90's, I can appreciate these newer rest areas now. This one is typical of ones in central Connecticut and it's a lot more pleasant that the past. You have a few choices for food and they're your ubiquitous Subway, McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts. They're like every other rest area food vendor: above-average prices. The dining area is often cleaned, so they're not a drag to eat at. You won't feel compelled to run into your car to eat. The bathrooms are pretty clean and well-lit. They were ghastly before renovations. There's also a convenience store, massage chair, and a few other small interests. read more

This rest stop is right off of 95 S in Connecticut. It was very convenient to stop here coming from Boston on our way to New York. This is one of the cleanest rest stops I've encountered as a traveler. The bathrooms were spotless, the tables didn't even have a crumb on them, and even the floor in McDonald's was as clean as I've ever seen a McDonalds floor. You can tell that this rest plaza sees the importance of a clean facility and it shows. They have limited food options here (McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Popeyes, and Subway) but I feel that the cleanliness really makes up for lack of options for me. I would rather have my food come from a clean restaurant than have a place with more options that was dirty. This is a grey place to stop and grab a bite on your road trip. read more

I know, I know... A review for a truck stop.... However, this was by far THE CLEANEST public restroom I have ever been in! Kudos to everyone there! This is a very busy rest stop and I am sure they get a good crowd in and out of that place each day... Not an easy task to keep a place like that clean. I literally was blown away by how tidy everything was. The food options are stellar as well and they have something for everyone. It is one of the brand new stops they made along 95, and I highly recommend holding it if you can until you get to this one. The I-95 Rest areas are fairly frequent along the route through CT, and they all have a pretty standard layout. There's a food court area, bathrooms, and a gas station with a mini mart. This particular one has a Subway, Dunkin Donuts, and Mcdonalds. The lot is large and pretty clean, and the bathrooms are pretty quick to access. It's nothing special, but it does the job. read more

A very nice rest stop. They had plenty of places to choose from to eat and the prices were reasonable and not sky rocketed. Even Dunkin' Donuts prices were about the same as any Dunkin' Donuts that would be at a mall. The bathrooms were spotless which is rare for a service plaza. This rest area is pretty good to the point that we almost always stop here when traveling on I95. The most important part of this place to me is that the restroom has always been very clean. There's ample parking and the gas pumps are well maintained. There's also a standard McDonald's here which we've had a few times. read more

The Dunkin Donuts wasn't serving food and I waited in line for 5 min before they told me. They had no signs saying they weren't serving food

In the 30 years of my existence I have never been more disappointed with a subway franchise. This morning I saw an ad on the tele for the new chipotle cheesesteak sub. Being on the road so long and away from everything I hold dear, the thought of this sub gave me that warm tingling sensation that you get when you get a new pair of new balance sneakers or new flip phone. As I drove down the highway the familiar green and yellow sign caught my attention. This was it, the moment I had been waiting for for the past 32 minutes. I went in and ordered. Everything was going so well until i got to the end and was informed they had no chipotle sauce. Something inside me changed in that split second. Like a child on Christmas morning who finds the toy he longed for was not under the tree. It was suggested I get buffalo sauce instead. While I love a good buffalo it just wasn't the same. I sincerely hope no one after me has to go through the same misfortune that I beheld. read more
