Now, I do not eat frozen foods but they do have a gluten free area with very little preservatives....for those who are gluten free. I did; however, purchase the chicken meatballs with garlic and the Italian style chicken meatballs...they weren't frozen just in the refrigerated section. The produce looked extremely fresh and delicious as did their meat section with a host of stuffed meats. There was stuffed pork chops, stuffed salmon, stuffed chicken and shucks, stuffed potatoes lol. The olive station has a variety of olives....from all over the world (as the sign says). I would definitely recommend this store if you're looking for healthier options. They do have great sales, only if you have a membership and honestly the sales are pretty darn good. I could've paid $2.99 for the chicken meatballs instead of $4.99. Checkout at the self-serve cash register was easy and there's an attendant available to help or catch shoplifters lol. Just kidding...she was very nice and helpful. I'll be revisiting again to take a couple of those cookies home lol.

That said, they seem to have all the usual TJ items you see at all the locations. I went there for some veggies, some kids snacks, and a couple other things, and was able to find them all. The staff was really nice and chatted up my son at the checkout and gave him some stickers. The one tough spot here is the parking. The lot is both tiny and very tight. It is hard to get around if you are there after work or on a Saturday. There is additional parking nearby, but you may have to spend extra time looking and then walking over.

Prices did seem a bit more than other stores but not too bad for the convenience. I'd say my issue is with the check out. They have 5-6 cashier lanes and 4 self checkouts. Only 1 cashier available + a bagger. The bagger was having a conversation with the customer and carried on a bit long and couldn't seem to talk & bag at the same time. I ended up going over to self checkout which also took awhile but when I finally got up to one I realized it's because the system is just extremely slow. I was able to wait and checkout before they were done helping that same 1 customer. I get being friendly and providing customer service but it's to a point you need to considerate that a line is forming and people are waiting & some with perishables. I also don't care to converse about the items i'm buying so the bagger being so chatty would have gave me anxiety.

This is an "after" picture of the steak. Of the 16 oz, only about 1 oz had edible meat...the rest was medium rare shoe leather, hence the masticated flotsam left on my plate in he picture. I'm sure they would say I cooked it wrong, but I worked my way thru college as an assistant chef at a famous NYC steak house so I know how to cook meat. Will never buy any meat there again. Besides the meat, the store is fine but a bit over priced as others have said, and the staff is very nice, and I will continue to shop from time to time for convenience as its only 5 minutes away from home. Not only was there a person there to greet us and take our order, they put a ringer on the counter and a sign to press for service if someone isn't out front. Our food was delivered promptly to our table, the server was pleasant and the food met our expectations and matched our order. A good value for the money. Thank you for listening HyVee. It seems pretty big and even on a Sunday afternoon, was not a mess - the shelves were stocked and the staff were friendly. I was only there for some vegetables, but not only was I able to find ample options for what I wanted, the general condition and inventory of their produce area was very good. Often times, produce is picked over and need of replenishing. Defs recommend. It is also right off 394 and there is plenty of parking.

There are some items that are decent quality or similar to the bigger stores, and the prices are usually less. Their cheapest eggs are one cent cheaper per dozen than Walmart. Their cheapest ground beef is several cents cheaper per pound than Walmart. There are a lot of recalls on all the food, which I suspect is because pour oversight in production. Personally I am not a huge fan of Aldi because of safety and quality concerns, but if you are on a budget, this is definitely a place to get cheap food.
