We were long-term customers. The place was always clean and safe. No one ever broke into our unit. However, they raised the rate every 6 months. We started out at $135 a month. And it was up to over $301 a month for a 5'x10'unit. read more

16 February, 2026 3:17 pm: The person I spoke with that doesn't let you speak is named Jim and claims to be the manager. Yet he is unable to waive unlawful fees. Initially, he said for me to go online and enter my debit card information and he would waive the fee on his end. Then he suddenly changed his mind. Since it was a rainy day and the streets are flooded, I asked him for the one time courtesy of waiving the $3.94 fee that the website charges. He gave me conflicting information but ultimately refused. I told him I would file a complaint with the attorney general's office because it is unlawful to charge hidden fees that are undisclosed on the rental agreement and I also notified him that I would post this information on yelp. He said thank you. It is fascinating and shocking that Jim, the manager would rather have an investigation opened with the attorney general, bad publicity and lose customers than waive a small fee of less than $4 on a rainy day with flooded roads. This says a lot about him and his company. They don't care about their customers, they care about 4 dollars more. The attorney general has been notified and I would suggest customers look elsewhere for their storage needs. I have been renting storage units since 2008 and I have never had this egregious of an experience. Every other company I have dealt with cares about their customers and wouldn't ask someone to drive through flooded streets in a rainstorm in order to pay their bill. This egregious behavior is unacceptable. Look elsewhere. 11:59 am: There is a fee to pay my bill online that was not disclosed in the rental agreement. And they're going to make me drive in the rain all the way to their location at 2 pm in order to avoid it! The gentleman wouldn't even let me finish my sentence. Every time I start speaking he immediately interrupts me so I am not able to ask if I have to do this every month or how exactly to avoid these undisclosed fees. Then he just said thank you and hung up as I was trying to ask his name. This is why you should let people speak. If you don't, then it just causes confusion and your customers questions don't get answered. It's bad for your own company. Also, rather than telling me to be there at 2 pm, he should have told me what time they close and let me choose what time to visit them. He treated me like I was his employee. read more

After researching several locations in Esco and San Marcos, I had a short list. Kim gave me a tour of the facility and made it an easy decision. Her demeanor is very pleasing. Their place is clean, safe, secure and well lit. Thanks to Krista and Jim for finalizing my rental contracts. They were very courteous, professional and understanding with my concerns and questions all within fast email communications. As I am disabled, they even offered their office chairs to me. Their app (android version 2.9.8) is a winner as it outlines all of the details about both of my units AND it opens the gate automatically when you are close to the facility. Predatory. I now pay TRIPLE what I've moved in for, 2yrs later. It's redicoulos. I'm unfortunately far away, and don't have easy access to it. For all I know, its been burglarized, and they will just take my money each month, increase the rent every few months, and never tell me shit, about anything. I wanted to move out a yr ago. But local places are just as bad price wise, as this one is. Their deals are to get you to choose them over other options. Where they quickly then hold you hostage. They prey on those who can't easily move their belongings when it inconveniences them because of the constant price hikes. They do not have a maximum cap. So my small 5x5 can cost as much if not more than a unit 3 times its size. It's disgusting how greedy and predatory this place is. read more

I had an urgent need for a storage unit and these folks were amazing! The young lady with the red hair has quite possibly the best customer service I've ever experienced. They had me on my way in minutes, and that is after completely walking me through the process. She even reserved an extra unit for me, which I ended up needing, and remembered my name when I came back the next day. Top notch. I've been storing my stuff here now for a few years. The prices keep going up! Every year it goes up $20 or so a MONTH! I'm paying over $160 a month now for one unit. They will charge you at a "Great Price" but then screw you over once that "deal" ends. They encourage you to pay online, yet they charge a "convince fee". That fee actually just went up. It was $1.95 now it's at $2.56! For what!?! To run a debit card through!? I'm moving storage units soon. This place is a money pit. It's cheaper to get a whole new unit. Besides the fact the the people he contacted was polite and answered all of his questions. Have stored here a few times in the past and the facility had always been clean, the staff has been really helpful and their rates usually beat out other facilities in town. This time I was helped by Krista and she was super friendly. She made it quick and painless to get a unit set up and helped supply us with dollies, and let us have gate access early to get our trailer we were hauling out of the way of the entrance. 100% recommend this facility because of their awesome service. read more

Cheats... I was planning to move into another storage facility but at the last minute stopped by here, lured in by several huge yellow banners stating Buy One Month get One Free. I've seen this deal at other places and it seems to be a common marking ploy for Storage companies. Okay, I go in to tour the place.. U-Store-It looked okay, it was acceptable. I purchased the rental lock and locked up my unit. So I'm filling out the paper work and I get the amount due or my first month. No discount?! I asked the guy about it and he said "You have to book an appointment through the Internet to get the discount" HUH?? You have HUGE friken banners stating Buy one Get one free. Nothing about going through the Internet to get that deal. He says to call corporate after I finish signing the paperwork and they'll fix it. I was deep in it at this point, and I thought no problem I'll call corporate and they'll make it right. - I moved in that day. Afterward I called Corporate. The representative was nice, saying there must have been a mistake, but I had to work with the Escondido owner to fix the situation. They couldn't do anything but help contact the owner at the Escondido Office. She tried calling the owner..no answer. She sent an email, no answer... After going back and forth with corporate the rep said I would need to get the contract canceled, then do a new one.. Of course, when *I* call the Escondido U-Store-It, nobody answers the phone or returns messages. In the end I never got anything resolved with these guys. Just that I had to go through the Internet to get the deal. At a minimum it's deceptive advertising. - Rule of thumb. Always be prepared to walk away from a deal no matter how much it may inconvenience you. read more

I own a small business and I store all my excess stock there. About once every 3 months I shop around to make sure I am getting the best deal possible and cube smart continues to beat the competition! Beyond stoked on CubeSmart in Escondido! I just recently pulled all my stuff out of my unit - I know why would I write a review if I just left? Well I occupied that space for 5+ years, thats why. For over 5 years the staff was consistent, so I always knew who I was working with and they were helpful and kind with every interaction. Whether it be on the phone or face to face, I cant remember a time I walked away frustrated. If you are looking for a storage unit in San Diego county, this place is ACES. Moving and storage can be a frustrating experience and the people here keep you relaxed with their friendly attitudes and exceptional customer service. Hands down, the best storage unit I have ever been to. The general manager, Christian, was very nice and very professional. The office is clean, bright, and includes free coffee and wifi! They have a moving truck onsite that you can use. Although I suggest checking their calendar first to see when it's available. And they advertised a cheaper price if you reserved online, but the general manager was able to go ahead and do it for me while I was in the office. If you're looking for friendly, clean, and professional...this is the place for you! read more

This place has great big units and even in the dead of summer, the inner upstairs units don't get that hot. I wanted to go with the climate control units but after walking into this one and seeing the size of the units, I was sold. They offer great military discounts and the storage units have double accesses which is super helpful if you want to do both sides or have large items on one side. The only problem is that there are no lights inside so you need to bring your own or turn the timer knobs so that the hallway lights illuminate. I like the timers though since it prevents people from just leaving unnecessary lights on. The elevators are large and there is a ton of room for loading large items. The whole complex is gated and you need a code just to get into the gate so all in all, it has a pretty secure feeling. read more

Do NOT do business at this location... Water Main break a few weeks ago flooded our unit.... their insurance company will NOT reimburse us for close to $2,000 in damage... all Cube Smart will do is give us one month of free rent!!! This was my first experience renting a storage unit, during a very trying time in my life. Worst experience. I had to sign an agreement and pay up front for a unit that I never got to check out beforehand. What a nightmare. On move in day, I get to my unit and realize right off the bat that I am going to have issues getting some of my furniture thru the opening. Then upon opening the door, I find the unit is FILTHY, with rodent droppings scattered throughout. I called the office and no answer then I'm directed to Customer Service. The rep was very apologetic and told me she would place an emergency call to the manager who would call me back in 15 minutes. Never got a call. I had to handle this matter. I almost ruined some of my furniture trying to get it thru the opening. I would not have rented this unit had I seen it beforehand. read more

i looked around for the best deal around, i looked at about 30 places within 10 miles of my house before i went with U-store it. price wise on a per month basis it was a little less than competitors. they were very accommodating, great service. you get the first 50 miles free on the truck, and honestly keep it local, the truck is a moving truck, we had no ramp on it. we had to move in on a sunday and although they close at 3pm(gates stay open until 10pm) they let us keep unloading the truck. not only did i receive the internet discount i asked for, and my first month free, they were offering a two month free discount if you book a smaller space, and he extended it to my unit without sweating anything. their circular locks are well priced and more secure. it's an easy to get to location, and very safe. i've never had a better experience from a storage place (i've been using storage places since 2004, going to 5 different storage places) Pros: great service, pricing, location and sizes. Cons: if you're going more than 30 miles on the truck, get a different truck. it's fine for a dozen miles or so, but it's about 8'X12' and it has poor visibility. plus under 50 miles, all your paying for is gas, and that's nice and cheap for a local moving truck! read more
