This place is high security-super safe! I moved my stuff from a Kearny Mesa facility because of constant theft. I complained to that facility, but they said I should have had insurance. I'm a captive customer since I'm overseas, but in six years, I've seen the monthly rate increase from $175 to $266. Their "rationale" claims it is due to increased operational costs. With interest rates essentially flat, that justification is nonsense. The customer service, in my experience, is terrible with their local manager, Brandi, refusing to respond to my complaints about their system failures. I regret using their facilities. read more

We needed storage with a convenient location, storage on the first floor, clean, - you know - everything and cheap. :-) Totally surprising we did. Pricing was reasonable, the units are sparkling clean, all are on the ground level with roll up doors - yea!! Night and day difference from our first storage experience. Oh long access hours too and not far from the 78. I'm very pleased. Wonderful to find a place that fits your needs and management with a sense of humor. Still with StaxUp - fairy godmother still hasn't come through with that dream home with the oh so excellent storage. :-( Still the great storage as when we first signed up and I don't think I can stress strongly enough just how important those long access hours are. They can be a real lifesaver. One very modest increase - no I don't think anyone wants a rate hike but they have to make a living and it is modest. I'll take that. :-) read more

Just a few words about Stax Up Storage, a storage facility within San Marcos. As a customer, I rented a storage unit for personal belongings for about five years before moving on. About the facility: - Easy access, with wide driveways between the building (3 vehicles wide). - Secure, with gate at front, cameras everywhere, two different codes needed to get to your storage unit. - Clean and well kept. - Built on a slope with excellent rain water drainage. Never a problem with water or dampness inside the buildings, so your things stay dry. - All units have same floor access, no need for any elevators like some other places. - Convenient access hours beyond office hours, early and late. About the staff: I can't say enough nice things about Brandi Fleming, the manager. She is pleasant to work with, knowledgable about all aspects of storage, and is quick to process and on top of all transactions and paperwork. She is also a compassionate and trusting person. I felt very comfortable leaving my belonging here at Stax Up knowing Brandi was in charge. Now, I used a 5x10 space for about five years. The price as very competitive but I always felt this place to be a notch above other places and I always felt safe going there. I used my unit for personal storage, but I noticed many businesses here too. Take your business else where!!!! Not only are the prices ridiculous here but you are also FORCED to buy insurance that covers nothing. Recently many customers have complained about RAT DROPPINGS and although they say they are "fixing" the issue, they are telling us that the insurance doesn't cover this?!? So I'm paying these people $150 a month so rats can destroy my valuables? And to top it off the person in the office tells me to just throw some black pepper all over my unit so that no rats will "come in". Great customer service. read more

I had excellent Customer Service from the gal in the reception area. I did forget her name but she is the bubbly-smart-confident Blonde, she worked hard to ensure I was coming in and getting me a storage space. She was an absolute joy!! She made it a great experience. I rented a 10x 10 unit five months ago to store some boxes while we moved from Ventura county to San Marcos. I found the facility to be extremely clean and convenient. I thought the facility was very safe and kept our belongings secure. The personnel at the facility were always helpful and good natured. Brandi, the manager, is fantastic! The minute we walked in the door we knew we would be well cared for. The facility is clean, quiet, and secure. They even have climate-controlled units, which we ended up getting because we needed a place to store our beloved bottles of wine. If I could leave a 0 star rating, I would. I have been a loyal customer here for 8+ years prior to their change in ownership. I just received a notice my rent was increasing from $94 + insurance to $144/mo! When I questioned it, this exorbitant 65% increase was explained in the following email: "We know that this increase is higher than we have done in the past. During your time with us we have only increased your account one other time for just a few dollars. Our company had made a decision to do increases this year to all the accounts. If you would like to reach out to someone other than me we do have an email that you can send comments to. The email address is wecare@stratprop.com". Seriously?! "Wecare@stratprop.com" doesn't sound like they care... Looks like it's time to move my junk! Who raises rent by 65%?! Apparently this establishment. Beware. read more

I recently within the last couple of months received a very high rent increase for the storage unit which was not only a bit abrupt but more importantly a BIG jump in price. The price jump was $38 per month in addition to what I already pay . I realize these things are inevitable but that is a $38 increase per month (That's my gym membership times 3 and then add 8 bucks). I paid less than that for an apartment rent increase not too long ago? I went with StaxUp initially because it was just a BIT cheaper than the competition and now it is far more expensive. It is a major pain too because once you have all your stuff in the storage you don't want to move. Slick move eh? I have nothing at all negative to say about Brandy, she's great. Hence the 2 stars (It would have been 1 star), the increase is far too high and I will be looking around for other units. Take my warning and be aware of the steep increases after you get comfortable here folks. read more

The storage is big, clean, and secure which is what I was looking for when looking at storage units. I switched to a larger storage unit and I put my lock on incorrectly, the next day I got call saying that my lock was not on correctly. Literally "as good as it gets". Everything about this place is stellar. The place is very well run. It's always SUPER clean, which I find so important in a storage facility! Brandy is the most friendly and accommodating person ever! I value her customer service sincerity and genuine pleasant disposition. So refreshing! And I am always grateful that they don't overcharge for space. I've rented other places, but this is the 3rd time I've rented here! There's a reason I'm always back. They do offer automatic payment debits, too. I've had good experiences here and recently a not so good experience. First I'd like to say that I've been using this storage facility for over 6 years and it seems really secure and the staff is friendly. Second, I recently upgraded to a larger storage unit and one thing I've noticed is that the secretary at the front said that they would send me a bill every month but I haven't received a single one. I only found out what my second month's bill was due by logging in online and finding out that my payment had been due 2 days prior. And then last month I checked to see what I owed online a few days before the bill was supposed to be due and it said I had a $0 balance. Well when I checked back a few days later it suddenly said I had my regular $80 due the day before. So either they just have a really crappy system or something weird is going on. How am i supposed to know what my bill is when they don't have it online or send it to me? I don't want to go by my storage and see a red lock on it, you know? read more

This place was mediocre at best. I got a referral online and got a great first month deal on a 5x10 unit. However, there is a reason why it was a bargain. The staff is there half the time, I always seemed to visit the office during there "lunch". Also the weekend staff does not know how to do there job appropriately, as I moved out of my unit on a sunday and got called the following thursday asking if I had moved out my unit! Probably the worse experience of this all was, I did not receive a partial refund for the other half of the month in which I vacated. So I was essentially charged 3 months for having the unit for 2.5 months. When I asked if a partial refund could even be considered it was a direct no. Kinda tough, especially knowing you are a university student. So just a warning, make sure you move out at the end of the month or else you are giving them a double up on your unit! read more
