My first time snorkeling was a success and I have nothing but great things to say about C.I.A. We had the pleasure of snorkeling with this family owned company and I wish I could have snorkeled with them an extra day! Laura, her husband, and their son Damian were passionate about what they do and I absolutely enjoyed my time with them. It was my first time snorkeling, so you can imagine it was a bit scary for me. However, Laura and her family made me feel safe. They helped me adjust my mask until it was perfect and always checked on me to ensure I was safe and having a good time. In addition, they take photos for you and point out the turtles, sting rays, puffer fish, and other rarities so that you don't miss them. They also take photos for you so you don't have to carry your own camera. Booking a round trip ferry ride with C.I.A. is convenient and saves you the hassle of waiting for tickets at Fajardo Ferry (separate review). Booking with them guarantees you a RT ticket; you'll receive a text with details on getting your tickets. When you get to Culebra, Laura meets you and drives you to Tamarindo Beach where the fun begins! For the SeaVenture package, you start off with a short kayak to your snorkeling destination. You snorkel for a while and then kayak back to shore. Here, you'll have a lunch provided to you by Laura and her family. There's fruit, juice, soda, water, and these amazing sandwiches that are seriously to die for! Laura says it's made of blended cheese, ham, and peppers (I should have asked for the complete recipe!). After lunch, you snorkel in a separate area where the beautiful turtles hang out! This was my favorite part! You will be informed as to how to behave around them to avoid scaring them away. After this excursion, Laura drives you to the famous Flamenco Beach and picks you up in an hour (depending on when you finish the SeaVenture). She takes you straight to the ferry and you're off to Ceiba! All in all, I would definitely snorkel with C.I.A. in the future!! read more

We found this tour quite by accident, they are a relatively new tour company and aren't as well advertised. We checked the details of their excursions on their excellent website. I called them up to get some more details and make reservations. Damien Sr was very helpful in getting our ferry tickets even though we gave them a short notice. We needed transportation but ended up renting our own car, because they needed a min of 8 people to arrange transportation. Taxi is 20$pp, so paying 160$ for just the two us didn't make any sense. We were greeted by Laura at the Culebra terminal promptly on time. She drove us to Tamarind beach for snorkelling trip. The trip took a little while to start, we had to wait for some other guests to join us which a little bothersome as we were raring to go. Damien Jr explained the basics of kayaking and the tour details. The tour is split into two parts 1) Kayaking for 20 min to reach a good section of the reef and then snorkeling. 2) Snorkeling in another section to see the turtles and some coral reefs. They provided food/refreshments after we got back from the first section of the trip. They also took lots of pictures which was great. We saw a lot of fishes, sting rays, turtles, different kinds of corals. I would have liked to know more about the different kinds of fish and the coral that we saw. We spent a good amount of time in the water and after that Laura dropped us off at Flamenco beach. Flamenco beach was awesome, it has turquoise blue water and white sand, we spent around an hour at the beach. We left around 4 to catch the ferry back to Fajardo terminal. We had a great experience! My boyfriend and I booked our adventure a couple of weeks in advance and they reply to us very quickly. The registration was easy and the instructions were as well. We drove to the ferry terminal where we just had to pick up our tickets that they reserved. The ferry ride was definitely rocky but nothing to do with CIA. Once we arrived to Culebra, Laura received us and drove us to Tamarindo beach where we kayaked and snorkeled. It was amazing! Laura, Diego and Damian were very helpful and assisted us with everything. They drove us to Flamenco beach after to enjoy a beautiful relaxing 2 hours. Then Laura picked us up at 4 to drive us to the ferry back. I loved my trip and I cant wait to see the pictures they took! PS: this has nothing to do with the adventure but please take precaution before boarding the ferry. Most of the people including us got sick on the ferry, and it was the longest 1.5 hrs of our lives. Either flying from San Juan or ferrying from Fajardo. I recommend ferry because when you are coming back from Culebra, you can go another adventure which is Bahía Bioluminescent Bay. There is no need to prebook ticket for it. Skip long lines and hours early to buy a ferry ticket and sometimes it can run out of ticket (trust me..you don't wanna get there, your trip could be ruined). CIA can book that ahead of time for you. Just be there before 8:30am, especially if you drive. Parking is always pack, and it's a dirt lot. Avoiding long walk in mud if it's a raining day. Puerto Rico is tropical weather so it can get very wet. That's all the tips. The rest I will leave CIA do the jobs. Don't forget to go to Flamenco Beach. I love clear blue water but the sand not that white to compare to Anna Maria Beach. I will come back again. Thanks CIA...! read more

Seriously, I just want to go back to Culebra, PR just to re-take this tour, so I could chuck the life vest I was wearing and swim with turtles and stingrays! That was my only regret, but being exhausted beyond belief, I'd rather watch them from the surface rather than sink and drown- not a great way to kick off 2013! If you are a great swimmer and well-rested the night before, that is an opportunity you'll definitely have with Culebra Island Adventures (CIA) which is nothing short of amazing...and if you're not a great swimmer, never fear, just keep the life vest on. I found them on Trip Advisor (the #1 attraction on Culebra!) and my friend called them up for details about the tour and possible transportation from Old San Juan. They arranged for a van to pick us up and drop us off near our hotel to/from the Fajardo terminal where we had to take the ferry to Culebra... and because of their awesome contacts, me and my friend were able to SKIP the painfully long line and pick up our ferry tickets as soon as we got to the terminal! Awesomeness even before we left the mainland! After a long, enjoyable ferry ride, we arrived at Culebra where Laura was waiting for us and others on the ferry who would be on the tour with us, then we hopped on a bus that took us to Tamarind Beach. MAKE SURE you go to the bathroom on the FERRY- because there are no bathrooms or changing facilities at Tamarind Beach, and Laura was in a hurry to get us on the bus (since the ferry arrived late, and there was a long line for the bathrooms at the Culebra terminal) After arriving at this gorgeous, tranquil paradise (I could've skipped the kayaking/snorkeling part altogether! Well, not really) Laura's son, Damien, gathered us around and explained the breakdown of the tour and kayaking/ snorkeling info. We hopped in our kayaks and made our way towards the reef, where Damien stressed that we had to be careful not to accidentally hit it, then told us to jump in and snorkel. After enjoying snorkeling for quite some time, we got back in our kayaks and went back to shore, where we enjoyed sandwiches, soda, fruit, and chips, relaxed a bit, then got right back in the water for the second part of our tour- my favorite part! We swam towards an area where turtles are usually spotted and sure enough, one graced our presence, followed by another, with a couple of sting rays making special appearances. Some of us, including yours truly, even got to hold a sea urchin (don't know the specific species). Afterwards, on dry land, we bade Laura, Damien, and the rest of their family farewell as we hopped on the bus, which took us to part three of the tour: Flamenco Beach. Such a gorgeous beach, but the waves were a bit rough that day and we could only spend, believe it or not, 45 minutes on the beach before we had to get back on the bus to return to the terminal... which was nothing! :( But the reason why it was 45 minutes was because the ferry got to Culebra late, which started our tour late, and we had to catch the last ferry out of there.... so the late morning ferry ate into our tour time. Thanks a lot, Fajardo ferries. And in a non-sarcastic way at all, thanks, Culebra Island Adventures for such a kick-ass day! AND.. if everything I just described wasn't enough to showcase their awesomeness, they spend the whole tour taking pictures of us- above water, on the water, and underwater- then sending them to a professional to have them touched up, then posting them on their Facebook page for us to download!! Awesome tour guides, perfect tour. Laura, Damian Jr. and Damian clearly know what they are doing. Came to PR for a long weekend and was nervous about getting to Culebra after learning how difficult the ferry could be. Luckily a friend told me about Culebra Island Adventures, and we were able to make a pretty last minute reservation (a week early) for a "seaventure2"...we filled out an online form and got a very quick response. They booked our ferry tickets for us, which was a huge relief. The day of the tour, the ferry was a little late so we got started about an hour after schedule but I honestly didn't feel rushed at all. We got to do kayaking, snorkeling (twice) and even some down time at Flamenco Beach. I'm amazed we fit in so much- without feeling like we were. It's a family run business and you can tell they love what they do...and they're so knowledgeable. They really took their time to show us everything and went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable and happy. By far, this was our favorite part of our little 3 day weekend in San Juan. Words cannot describe how satisfied we were with this experience! My husband and I booked the Sea Venture II. Unfortunately the Ferry Terminal screwed us up and we missed out on kayaking. I was initially disappointed; but please understand this had NOTHING to do with the CIA team. They did an excellent job communicating with us (even though we had no cell phone service) and making sure they reserved space on the ferry for us. We got to Culebra after a beautiful ferry ride over and got started right away with snorkeling. This was my first time ever doing this and I was just speechless with the experience. The seascape was just breathtaking; Tamarindo Beach was beautiful!!! We saw sea turtles, urchins, all kinds of beautiful coral, fish and even sting rays! When we were all done, we went to Flamenco beach purchased some Pina Coladas and Mojitos and sunbathed on the powder white beach and swam in the gorgeous water while taking in the amazing view! I want to thank the team for their patience with my nervous nature before the trip and I HIGHLY recommend that if you are traveling to Culebra, you give these guys a try! You will NOT regret it! If my wife and I make it back out to Culebra - we will happily go back to Culebra Island Adventures. We really enjoyed ourselves with them and got to see a large variety of wildlife underwater. My wife and I went on this trip over a year ago, just came back from scuba diving Zanzibar island and we're still raving about snorkeling with this group. They showed us a wonderful time and took us to Flamenco beach - easily one of the prettiest more secluded beaches we've ever been to. PLUS - they also take your photos and immediately post them on Facebook. I've yet to see any other company do this, and it's very thoughtful perk of working with them. read more

Had a fantastic time with Laura and Damian snorkeling and kayaking on Tamarindo beach. This was me and my wife's first experience at kayaking and snorkeling and trust me it was totally worth it. I highly recommend taking the tour with CIA for several reasons: 1. They are really passionate about their work which make your experience all the more fun. 2. They are extremely knowledgeable about different kinds of fishes, star-fish, eels, turtle etc and Laura on several occasions bought different sea creatures from ocean-bed and made us hold in our hands (I got a chance to hold a sea urchin, starfish etc:) ) 3. They really care for the aquatic animals as we were told on several occasions to be careful of not touching the corals as they are fragile. 3. Getting your photos clicked by them while in the waters so you don't need to worry about carrying your camera. By far this was the best thing to happen on my trip to Puerto Rico and I higly recommend taking their tour. P.S Even though they provide you with sand-wiches, fruits, soda etc make sure you eat have a good breakfast and carry your sun-screen as it can get hot out there. read more

My husband, 2 teenagers and I booked the snorkel with turtles tour in June 2018. Fantastic experience. We snorkeled at Playa Tamarindo, Culebra Island and saw sea turtles, stingrays, jelly-fish, star fish, hermit crabs, fish, brain coral. The tour guides were great; they pointed out all the sea creatures and took many great photos which we were given access to via Facebook. After snorkeling and lunch(they provided), they drove us to lovely Flamenco Beach where we swam for several hours. They picked us up and drove us to catch our Ferry back to Fajardo. Had a great experience with this company. Laura and Damien make a great team and did a great job guiding our group, making sure we all saw sea turtles, rays, sea urchins, and coral. They know the best spots and we saw a sea turtle within literally 3 minutes of entering the water!! They are also very patient and friendly, and even gave us a free lift back to our guesthouse! This was my favorite part of our trip to Puerto Rico! We did the "Turtles and More 2" tour, which was perfect because Laura and Damian reserved our ferry tickets to and from the island. All we had to do was get to the Cieba Ferry Terminal and pick up the tickets. Laura and Damian clearly communicated important information to us like when to be at the terminal, what to bring, etc. the whole experience was smooth and easy and amazing! Laura met us at the ferry dock in culebra and drove us to a beautiful little beach where we snorkeled. Laura found turtles, coral, sting ray (not as scary as it sounds), lobster, and more for us to see underwater. She took pictures to share with us the whole time. It was awesome! Once we finished snorkeling we swam in and Damian had delicious sandwiches, chips, fruit, and drinks for us. After lunch they drove us to Flamenco Beach (the most beautiful place I've ever been!), where we spent the afternoon on our own enjoying to beach. Laura picked us up from the beach and brought us to the ferry terminal to go home right on time. The whole day was great! I would recommend taking Dramamine before getting on the ferry to culebra. The back was fine, but I definitely appreciated taking the Dramamine on the way there . read more

Wonderful trip. The guides (dad and son) were funny and knowledgeable. The dad was patient when we had to come into the island later than planned and needed an ride. They even took us to the beach after the snorkeling and picked us up to go back on the ferry. I love that they take pictures for you during the trip and put on Facebook for you to see. Just note there is no place to get changed once you get to the snorkeling site. Nothing against the business. All the snorkeling places on that beach are that way. Just a helpful tip. read more

We went to Tamarendo beach. Very knowledgeable staff we saw sea turtles, Barracuda, Lyon Fish, star fish and so much more. They supplied lunch as well. We had a nervous member in our group and Damian was great with calming him down and giving him tips so he could relax and enjoy the beauty around him. Highly recommend. They were also great getting our Ferry tickets and hanging them around for us due to weather conditions. They take pictures and also let us use our go pro and swam with it to get us better video. If you are a strong swimmer they will help you to learn to dive down so you can get a closer view. read more

We went out on a tour today and it was Amazing! The ferry that usually operates wasn't working so they had to use smaller ferries and needless to say they were 2 hours late due to too many people and not enough ferries. The compny came in constant contact with us during the delay woth the ferru. Thankfully Culebra Island Adventures was very accommodating. Even though we had to shorten our tour and miss out on the kayaking and "longer" snorkeling, we got some of our money back and still had a great tour!! They were the nicest couple and so informative. We contacted Culebra Island Adventures regarding a customized tour for 2. Damian helped us design a tour that is exactly what we wanted; plus it was very reasonable priced. We later had to cancel the tour due to the current conditions of the islands. Damian canceled the tour without charging us anything, despite all the work he had done for us! From the website, I know they have very generous cancellation policy. Still their professionalism and customer service exceeded all our expectation. We will definitely contact Culebra Island Adventures when we come back to Puerto Rico. read more

If you are going to Puerto Rico you must do this! They make it so easy and they organize everything for you. The only thing to be careful with is the Ferry. There are tons and tons of people who want to go. Locals and Tourists. Locals get to cut the line so make sure you get your confirmation number from Diego. They provided that for us and we cut the line and made it with no problem. However there were a lot of people who had issues from different tour companies. Just make sure you have your confirmation number for the ferry and get there early. We drove from old San Juan and get to the ferry by 8am. The rest of the experience is incredible. Just down right amazing. So glad we did it. Dont be afraid to take off you life vest. You dont have to be an all star swimmer to manage. This is a family run operation and they like to keep it small groups to make sure the tour is amazing! Highly Recommended. read more

We scheduled a tour as well as a transportation services from the company. The ferry was scheduled to leave at 9 am(informed by the Culebra Island Adventures), we got the ferry ticket ON OUR OWN around 8:37 am (There was no one guide you at the ferry). The tickets showed the same departure time as 9:00 am, however, the ferry left the dock at 8:40 am. The poor services and inaccurate information from Culebra Island Adventures made us miss the ferry. We were really pissed off and waited for hours until got onto the next ferry. After knowing that we missed the very frist ferry, the company decided not to pick us up on the island, and they didn't pick up my calls. I was really sad that I didn't make the tour. What's worse, the company insisted that it is our fault to miss the ferry and charged me the full amount of $208. DO NOT BOOK THE TRIP WITH THE COMPANY! BELIEVE ME! read more
