I had so much fun, can't wait to go snorkeling with them again! The Captain and his men Scott and Herbert were super friendly group of guys that gave special attention to everyone on board. They gave us instructions for snorkeling, and helped everyone to securely fasten their gear. We stopped at three spots for snorkeling. The first one were very close to Icacos Island, which was deliberately in a shallow area, so first time snorkelers like me can get some practice before going into deeper waters. The other two spots we stopped were in the middle of the ocean, among the reefs and vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea. Herbert, an experienced diver that guided our tour, dove down and flipped lots of rocks and caught little star fish, urchins, shrimps, crabs and other interesting creatures for us to see. It was amazing, and something I couldn't have done if I were on my own. Snorkeling is such an easy sport, even though I've only swan in water parks before, I find it easy to swim the sea with no problem. Lunch was prepared by them, with cold cuts, cheese and sandwich bread. I'm not a fan of these type of food, but I didn't expect hand pulled noodles in the middle of the sea either. Food was not the point of this trip anyway. If you don't like these food, you can always bring snacks and just put them in the cabin downstairs. In the end, we sailed by this small piece of land and saw iguanas climbing up the trees. It was really nice. I learned about this tour rather late, so I didn't meet the book online window (at least 12 hours ahead), had to call in and make reservation. I would recommend everyone taking advantage of their online booking system, it is real-time and you get $10 off. read more

This was a very relaxing tour. The tour guide/captain was very informative and knowledgeable on his facts of PR. Price per person was $99 which included: pick up and back from hotel, 2-3 different island stops, snorkel rental, and lunch. They come get you around 830-9am depending on the amount of people and traffic the morning of. We got back to the hotel around 3-4pm. It was the first time for my girlfriends and I on a catamaran and also a very memorable one. If you like snorkeling and swimming I would definitely recommend this tour! read more

This was one of the best parts if not the best part of our trip. Not only did they fit us in last minute and pick us up from our hotel in Isla Verde, they were also the cheapest of all the tours we looked at. Captain Jimbo was hilarious and the crew was great. We sailed to the first reef and practiced snorkeling. By the time we got back on the boat we were all hungry and the food was ready and great. The bread was fresh and there was plenty to eat. The second stop was amazing and we were able to see 2 huge stingrays. On the way back we drank rum punch, sang along to music, and played instruments that they passed out. We paid a little extra for the ride and on the way back to our hotel they stopped to get everyone little fruits that i believe are called Ackees. They were awesome! I found this tour through Viator and went with about 14 other adults for a big group trip. We had a blast! Music made it feel like a party scene, open bar was heaven (although you were limited to a few basic cocktails like pina colada or rum punch), the Lunch was good. Lunch consisted of sandwiches and some pasta. They also cut up some fruit for us to snack on which was a nice treat. Highly recommend for all ages really. We booked our catamaran tour through our hotel for another company but Captain Greg came to our rescue when the other company left us because they picked up the wrong passangers. We ended up on his Fat Cat catamaram and it was the best experience ever- great crew (loved Captain Scott). They had the best stories and were so easy to talk to; we had so much fun. This place probably won't show up in any of your Google searches, but it was awesome. Captain Jimbo and Scott ate a great pair. I called another company and they refered me here. I was last minute. It was the same price as other options but I think offered a much better value. The entire trip was about 5 hours, which is incredible for the price. Everything you need is included. Scuba gear, food, drinks, rum punch and flippers (if you know how to use them). My experience was a little tainted as we drove ourselves. I would highly recommend letting them pick you up. The people that rode with the captain stopped by a fresh fruit stand and bakery. First stop was about an hour and half. It was fun to be on the tiny island and learning to breathe and getting comfortable. I got sea sick because the boat was docked there for a while. Captain Jimbo was attentive and really cared about my well being. I will never forget that. I was sick the rest of the trip so I didn't see what the others did, but I heard them spotting manatees, dolphins, sea turtles and iguanas. I will be back but with a lot more motion sickness pills!! read more

My family and I was vacationing in Puerto Rico and found a sign for funcat catamaran. I had never been snorkeling before and was both nervous and excited. Captain Jimbo was our very knowledgable captain; he picked us up at our resort which made the trip so much easier. Upon arrival it was hazy and overcast but the Capitan assured us that it would clear up. Sure enough the sun came out. Before snorkeling we received a brief but very informative 101 of snorkeling. The first mate, Herbert was kind enough to escort us to some good viewing spots and also showed us sea urchins up close. It was all in all an amazing experience. We were provided with a light lunch, refreshments and snorkeling equipment. Our day ended with a fun party on board with tambourines and maracas ! Fantastic day abroad the Funcat. read more

Was probably the highlight of my entire two weeks in Puerto Rico! The crew was awesome! The "tour guide" on our way to the snorkeling locations was very interesting. The crew members we had the pleasure of hanging out with were Herbert, and I think Gus and (sorry guys) Scott?? The 2 locations we went to were beautiful and our group was the only ones in the water in the area. Our first stop was the small island where the ending scene of Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 was shot.The excursion is VERY family friendly. Not at all the drunken spring breaker scene. In reality you could attend this without bringing along.(Towels are not necessary in Puerto Rico cause you dry so quickly anyways) I didn't use any sunblock either, I just stayed under the covered area while not in the water. THIS is the kind of vacation activity I work hard for all year to enjoy. It was absolutely enjoyable from start to finish. The crew was amazing. They communicated well with all of us all day. When we stopped to snorkel it was nice that they were in the water with us. They took underwater photos of us and the fish. We had plenty of time to swim and snorkel . There was a copious amount of sea life to observe. My favorite was the sergeant major fish. We also saw a remora that kept swimming close to us.. We had a nice lunch of sandwich items(bread, meat, and condiments) and large bowls of pasta salad, black bean and corn salad, broccoli salad, etc. Chips, cookies, fruit. Following lunch we stopped by a nice beach on one of the islands. The bar was flowing with delicious drinks. They had Pina Coladas, Guava Coladas, Rum Punch, and soft drinks. We were welcome to take these on the beach. The positive vibe radiated to the boat passengers, everyone was in a friendly and festive mindset. The ride back to the marina wasn't a massive letdown. The crew played the most appropriate music and kept the mood locked into "party mode" as we jammed to island music and continued to enjoy the drinks from the bar. I had to share what a beautiful time me and my family had! We went through dozen of brochures not sure what to expect and came across funcatpr and when I say this was the best experience ever! I mean it! We booked it for the last day of our vacation hoping this goes right lol theres no do over if not but even when I called to book at 830pm customer service was so helpful!!! She went through everything perfect! Even told me about Dramamine which is a pill that can help for motion sickness. When we arrived everything went great!! Everyone was soooo nice and friendly! Even the guest on the boat! Everything took about 6hrs and every moment was worth it from snorkelling, seeing the islands, pina coladasss, lunch, fuit salad and even chilling at the beach for a few hours with the music playing from the boat was great!! Loved it! The PR flag on the boat was a plus lol please understand when I take time to write all this means this by far they reached all my expectations! We had an amazing time with this company in March 2013. The snorkeling equipment, instruction, and locations were great. Our first stop was Palominitos Island, and it was beautiful and idyllic. It really doesn't get much better than this. Good location to work on snorkeling skills, but not too much to see underwater. The second stop was what our Captain said was some "serious jacques cousteau shit." There were some decent schools of fish and coral. Not the healthiest reef I've seen, but there was plenty to see if you were patient. The best part of the trip: my boyfriend got to swim with a manatee! Food was plentiful and tasted great after swimming around for a bit. Build your own sandwiches, fruit, chips, soda, and water. Lots of deck space on the boat to sunbathe and relax on. Friendly staff. I completely enjoyed my experience here! The guides were super friendly and knowledgeable and I had a great time on the water. Boat was pretty spacious and comfortable. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other snorkeling experiences. Booze and dance party at the end was sort of ridiculous but fun too. One thing that impressed me was that one of the guides took me out individually after I told him that I hadn't seen a turtle. He made a special effort to find one for me, and totally went above and beyond what was necessary. Really awesome. Only two things that are not the best: 1) the van that went and picked us up in the morning was super super super late (if i remember correctly, more than an hour late), and the driver was a bit bizarre and not particularly apologetic. 2) the food that they provide is pretty mediocre..just fruits and cold cuts, so don't go expecting anything really tasty. I've been on the Funcat twice now and each time is great. Jimbo was fantastic, very patient with those who have never snorkeled or even SWAM before. yes im still confused as to who would go snorkeling in an ocean if you cant swim? He took us to a beautiful spot for the 1st stop and when it started to get too crowded we headed to the next deeper snorkeling spot. Just so happened to luck up and see two manatees (cows of the sea). Jimbo dove down and he pulled up some conch and sea urchins to show everyone and returned them back to the ocean floor. He is very respectful of the oceans habitat. On the way back we ate sandwich's snacked on fruit and cookies and of course the Caribbean punch. I loved that he cut the gas engine and hoisted the sails for a nice quiet ride back into port. Bring cash to tip them at the end if you had a great sailing. read more

Great day for my family! Capt. Jimbo picked us up from our hotel. We had a nice ride to Fajardo, even had time for a quick stop to pick up some breakfast. Scott and Chris are an amazing staff. Scott took us to two reefs and gave a us a bonus stop to look at a submerged wreck. Lunch was a tasty buffet of fresh fruits, cold cuts and two types of bread. Sodas and water were available through the entire trip. Pirate rum punch and bumping tunes made the return trip memorable. Capt. Jimbo even gave us restaurant tips for our dinner. read more

I love this trip, I do it every year. The fish are beautiful, the water is gorgeous & warm. The scenery is so pretty. My husband scuba dives and doesn't need a wetsuit. I love snorkeling; and Captain Jim and Captain Greg are the best: crazy funny characters but helpful too. One is puertorican and one is american and they make sure you have Fun on the Cat. I think it is the most comfortable catamaran in the Fajardo San Juan area because it is spacious and they have shade, too. They feed you sandwiches, fruits and sweets, and they mix drinks on the boat ride back, woo hoo! You'll see hundreds of fish when you snorkel the little islands they take you to. This is always the highlight of my vacation, I have dozen of photos and good memories to prove it. I bring my underwater camera, my towel, hat and sunscreen, and they let me plug in my iPod to the speaker. Tip: Lookout for iguanas and manatees when you first leave the marina. read more

DO NOT BOOK WITH THE "FUNCAT"! We booked a day sail/snorkel. We were directed to the marina and when we arrived we found that it was at some other boat. They new nothing about taking us on their sail, so directed us back to where the fun cat was docked. After calling the "FUNCAT" to find out what was going on, we were told to go back to the first place and that we would be sailing with them. Apparently, the FUNCAT was not going out, but we would be with another sail company. After/during our sail, I discovered that we paid $25.00 more to go on the FUNCAT then what the other boat charged. I called and asked why that was, and was told that they just acted as a broker, that it was like booking a flight on an airplane. Well, sorry....BAD business principles. I did not get a refund and would NEVER use or recommend them to anyone! read more

Well, to be honest, this was a consolation trip. Our other excursion was canceled and our hotel recommended this one. At first, I had low expectations. I had read other reviews and the negative ones seemed pretty negative. However, I was delightfully surprised with this trip. Once aboard the ship (after a delayed prearranged hotel pickup), I was very at ease. It is a pretty sailboat and the weather was perfect for sailing. The captain would point out islands and resorts with little bits of trivia along the way. We lay anchor at beach to do a "training" snorkel run. It was nice that they provided everything we needed (minus towels and suntan lotion). This first reef was plenty fine with several schools of colored fish. After some time, the crew provided a buffet style build-your-own sandwich with plenty of free soda/ice tea/ ice water. We then set sail for the second reef which was gorgeous. I have been snorkeling several times before, but the diversity, color, and size of the reef was more than I had expected. My boyfriend and I had neglected to buy an underwater camera--however, the crew rented us an underwater case for my iPhone allowing us to capture some great video and photos of the reef--really cool! On the way back, we were offered a "secret recipe of rum-punch." It's more like Hawaiian punch and a tad of rum--however it was refreshing after a day in the sun. Before we pulled into shore, the crew gave us instruments to jam on. Overall, this was a very fun day well worth the money. Most people we talked to seemed satisfied. read more

Captain Scott, Herbert, and Tim were friendly, attentive, and enjoyable to be around. They were all open to answering questions and assisting the patrons with their snorkeling gear. The trip out to Palominito island was rough, but once we got there, we snorkeled for about an hour. There were some fish but it wasn't as lively as the next stop which was 20-30 minutes away in an open area of the Caribbean ocean which was full of bright colored fish and coral. Shortly, after anchoring, it started raining for 5-10 minutes. It didn't feel as if we stayed in this spot for very long before we had to head back to land. I would have rather spent more time in the open area than Palominito island, but the Captain prefers to go to Palominito island, so less experienced snorkelers can get their bearings in the shallower water. Few tips: sun screen your back or wear a waterproof shirt, bring some snacks, and be prepared for potentially some choppy water. read more

We did the snorkel and sail tour with the FunCat, and it was awesome. The weather wasn't quite so agreeable, and the first location was already very crowded. The Captian kept searching until he found us a better spot. We had a tiny island to ourselves for about an hour before other groups started to arrive. The snorkeling wasn't so great that day, but the company can't control that. Despite that, they still gave us 10% back. I was so surprised by that kindness. The lunch and free drinks were awesome. It is a bit of a long day, so be prepared, but we really enjoyed just hanging out and getting to know everyone. They cancelled a snorkeling trip 1 hour before the launch due to wind. I checked the weather report and the wind was a meager 12 mph and set to decline as the day progresses. Due to where the marina is, tourists like myself most likely have to pay for transportation to get there so being cancelled just before the launch is unprofessional. They did refund me for the snorkeling but I lost money on the taxi ride. PROCEED WITH CAUTION when booking with this company. Thanks for ruining my honeymoon. read more

We had reservations which we had made by phone for snorkeling trip on Friday 12/26/14. It was our last day in Puerto Rico and none of our family of four had ever been snorkeling. It was going to be the highlight of our vacation! I listened to my husband make the reservation over the phone - he provided our credit card number, got directions, and we thought we were set....that was until we arrived at the dock a few days later. We approached the catamaran and were told that they had overbooked the boat. Everyone one else had paid on line but our reservation was missed because the crew member who took our reservation forgot to log it in. However, they asked us to wait because there was a chance that the boat would not fill up. We waited and then were told that yes, there was room on the boat. All our disappointment at hearing about our reservation dissipated as we got onto the catamaran. At this point the "CAPTAIN" went through all the rules of the waters including the 49 maximum occupancy rule. He asked everyone to count off to check. We were at 50. The Captain immediately said that anyone who didn't have a reservation would have to get off the boat. He looked (glared) at us. My husband and I got off the boat though technically we had reservations just like everyone else! He had all the passengers count again. Still over 50....so they "kicked" our two sons off the boat. Though the Captain offered other options to us for the day (including one that was $200 more than the snorkeling trip), none appealed to us like the snorkeling did. We road away and I got angrier and angrier as I felt that we were wrongly singled out from among the crowd of 50. We had every right to be on the boat as the other passengers. It was NOT our fault that our telephone reservation never made it to the Funcat's log.... read more

The entire team was great from our first call to book the trip. However, there was a miscommunication for the pick up. We were ready for a 7:15 pick-up, but the third party driver had other pick ups for the excursion. We didn't get to the destination until after 9, maybe close to 10. The driver, Ander, was very cool and friendly that gave a guided tour and appealed to the passengers, IMO. The hostess for the excursion greeted the group, took role and after a while, we were boarding the Catamaran. The entire team worked very well together. The lunch was great! There were about 48 passengers and I thought it'd be a lot, but there was room for everyone. The main guy, I forgot his name, very comical, and led a bit of a nature walk to the highest point on the island. Snorkeling was very nice, though, it gets crowded at the reef so def be careful since there were 3 other tours. Nonetheless, there was enough fun for everyone. The beach stop was beautiful, with turq water was a,azomg/ The ride back was quick and quite , probably since every one was exhausted.
