Club Tengo Hambre - Where wine goes to rest, and take a long winters nap!

AMAZING - THIS SHOULD BE A "MUST DO" on your list!…read more I've been following Club Tengo Hambre for years - but finally decided we should do it. My friend treated she and I to the Valle de Guadalupe tour for my birthday! We showed up in San Ysidro and was greeted by the amazing "Ana" - if you go, please request her - she's so knowledgeable about the area and an absolute joy to be around all day. We walked across the border (super super easy) and met up with Alejandro (our driver). We stopped by a local taco spot followed by a trip down the coast. You get to see Rosarito and Ensenata before heading up in to the valle! We stopped at two wineries - one family owned (no one there except us) and the other was women owned - both were such a delightful, peaceful experience. The Wine? AH-MAZING!!!!!! Final stop - I won't ruin the end of the movie for you - but let's just say you won't be disappointed. Advice - you can get around with flip flops, etc. They recommend closed toe shoes but sandals (or your favorite wine tasting attire is perfect). Bring a light jacket just in case!

Violeta did a great job picking every place. Many times the food or drinks on tours are just okay. But we loved the breakfast tacos, the charcuterie board was one of the best I have had, and dinner was great and it had an amazing view of the sunset. The drive down to Valle De Guadalupe was very scenic. i was surprised at the quality of wine in Mexico. I had low expectations but we enjoyed the wines and the wineries in Mexico are very generous with their pours. I would highly recommend this if you have someone visiting or if you want to get a group of friends together to celebrate . Violeta was very knowledgeable and friendly. They also can arrange private tours as well.

It is a blast to walk around there, and especially because we didn't have to make any decisions about where to eat -- TastePro did it for us. All of the food and cocktails in the restaurants were amazing! I tried a white peach sangria that was the perfect starter to our tour. I also would love to go back and try more of the desserts at our last stop. The whole process unrolled perfectly smoothly, exactly as promised. It was easy to book, the restaurant staff knew what was up, and I received an immediate refund when one of our party wasn't able to attend. Highly recommended!

Amazing! TastePro is a dining adventure that transformed our date night! Our first TastePro tour…read more(and I say first, because there will be more!) was the North park Deluxe 4-Stop Tour. It is ALOT of food (and one stop was just cocktails!). You won't go hungry. We highly recommend giving TastePro a try! The Detailed Review: TastePro is a year-around version of restaurant week. You book a tour, which includes a prefixed menu and multiple reservations. I note reservation, because the full-service stops, don't want to loose a table during the dinner rush. For our North Park Tour (on a Saturday), Encontro required we arrive before 6PM or after 8:30PM. The other 3 stops didn't have time restrictions allowing us to swing by at any time. Each restaurant has a prefixed tasting menu that you should review when booking. The restaurants on our tour didn't have a printed "TastePro" menu, so I recommend knowing what you want before or having the menu page readily available on your phone. ProTip: Half way though I took screenshots of the prefixed menus. It was easier than scrolling and switching between screens. When we arrived at our fist stop, we told the hostess we were here for a TastePro tour. She looked at us confused (we were worried for a hot second) but she asked a more experienced co-worker who knew how to handle our reservation. We shared our email confirmation (date and party size) and a photo ID that matches the name on the reservation. We had zero hiccups, just a note that you may need to talk to a seasoned employee as this is a newer service. We were quickly seated and ordered our tasting meal. Our reservation included drinks (you can preorder 1 drink per individual) at an incredible value. Our preordered wine allowed us to select any glass of wine on the menu. The food was amazing. At Encontro we had the Hot Fresh Bread, Mini Corndog, Portobello Fries, & Crispy green beans; at 619 Spirits, we each ordered a flight of cocktails; at Crazee Burger, the Pastrami Slider with a side of Onion Rings & the Caesar salad with a side of sweet potato fries; at Figaro Dessert Cafe, the Signature House made Nutella Crepe *OMG*, and two scoops of Gelato. SO MUCH FOOD. And did I mention it was all amazing? After enjoying your meal, you just get up and leave. It was a strange feeling to leave a full service restaurant without paying (you already paid!). At the same time, prepaying was freeing and makes visiting multiple restaurants a breeze! In Summary, TastePro is provides an incredible dining adventure at an extraordinary value (how often can you put put those words in the same sentence!?!). My fiancee and I were over the moon with our TastePro experience and highly recommend to anyone who loves great food and is looking for a new adventure. Cheers!

They also have a very helpful chat function on the BTK website where I was able to ask questions before booking. Leading up to the tour, Chris was easy to communicate with via email. He sent us info on the tour and very helpful directions for the day of. Throughout the tour, Chris shared cool history about the food and navigated us through the market to the tastiest tamales, tacos and tortas. Chris is highly knowledgable and organized. He is also well connected in the community so you get access to wineries and owners that you would otherwise not have. He is generous with his expertise and provides an impressive educational experience. The BTK experience is great for anyone...a first time visitor or someone who knows wine and the valley because Chris personalizes the experience. We took the all-day tour that included lunch for $179 and it was worth every cent. We took ourselves on an excursion the next day and definitely felt Chris's absence as we got lost several times and were limited in what we could do and what we could learn from the experience. I look forward to booking our next trip.
