I went to Ace today and had a terrible experience. A cashier named Lee Bo was extremely unfriendly and clearly didn't know what he was doing. I tried to buy four items on sale. He told me to run my card and it would show the sale price at the end. It didn't work. He then got an attitude and did "well it's limit two. You can't buy fourteen." He's highly unprofessional and never apologized. It took 15 minutes to get out. This place is horrible. Lee needs to find a job more suitable to his skills, although I was not able to discern any skills whatsoever. read more

This used to be my go to store for something not sold at big box stores. Helpful staff and products were easy to find BUT no one was wearing masks. Associate said everyone laughed at him when he used one. Cashier didn't seem to care when asked. A company that has such disregard for customers health will not receive my business again. Good selection of items but... Just departed this store. Cashier lacks common courtesy, not friendly AND is coughing and not wearing a mask . Glad they have built a partition to protect customers from coughing staff... This was my second experience with this cashier. Try to support smaller businesses. Have to drive past Lowe's and Home Depot to get here. May just go there as they at least have friendly employees read more

They did not even bother to say hello, there was an employee named James in the exact aisle we were looking for something in and I had to walk around and ask for help because he didn't even acknowledge us. Yes he was in conversation with someone but not about anything in the store(personal friend). When I asked the lady in the front desk if there was only one person on the floor her response was it depends. No words after till I asked if she can get someone to help us.... never will make a purchase here. They aren't helpful and are picky about who they help. Stay away!!! read more

Worst Ace store I've been in. Went to get some weed killer for the yard. Walked into the store - no one was around to help. Walked all the way to the back to get someone after they helped their customer. They came and helped me find the product. Cashier was nowhere to be found. Waited ten minutes - I sent my wife to the back of the store. The cashier was helping a customer where I couldn't see her - she peeked over and saw me and went back to helping the customer. I went over and asked her to ring me out. Assistant manager walks up with my wife and said cashier was helping someone else. I said we couldn't find anyone when we were looking for help earlier either. She said they're understaffed and in the most sarcastic, passive aggressive way I've ever heard "Thank you for your patience" - I was floored. To be nasty to your customers must be Ace's new motto - coming from a manager of sorts. If I wanted to be patient, I'd buy products at WalMart and save a bunch of money. I pay a premium at Ace for the customer service. In my opinion, if you want rudeness and bad service, shop at this Ace. read more

My first visit to this store. Employees were more concerned with looking at a photo of a deer killed by a visitor to the store. I asked two times about a certain product, but no one bothered to help me but told me to look on the shelf. When I asked the cashier if she could look on the computer if they had the product, she told me 'they' would have to do it. So I said, that's ok, they are really too busy and left the store. read more

Culpepper Ace is an excellent hardware store capable of supplying almost anything a homeowner needs for home maintenance and repair. It's not a specialty store with every bit of obscure hardware for Ikea cabinets or metric plumbing fixtures but for everything else, they're fully stocked. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, unlike big box stores and can make intelligent suggestions on workarounds. I like the fact that the store is "right sized" to allow you to get in and out quickly and not be stuck waiting for the one human checker or be forced to used a "Self-Checkout". The hunting and outdoors section is reasonably well stocked and their bowhunting section is outstanding. There are two big box home centers about a mile away that *might* beat Culpepper on price but my time is far more valuable than saving 10-15 cents on an item. read more
