I usually buy a couple of their lovely scented candles here. Candles in the tins are pricey, but smell so fabulous and are long lasting too. It's one of the top 3 stores I frequent for gifts for friends and family. Come and take a gander, it's a fun shop for sure to explore.

They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.

I'd love to hear from any active vendor there. I dropped off my card (after messaging them via their website, email and Instagram over several months) to inquire about becoming a vendor and never heard back. Maybe they don't have any vendor openings or they don't think my art is a good fit. That's fine. However, I think a courtesy email telling me that should be a normal expectation, though? Maybe Im way off. I still get a ton of advertising whales from their subscription list, so.... ?

The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Each time we're in the store, the staff behaves as if we're being watched closely--asking if we want items held at the counter or having an employee follow us under the pretense of folding shirts while we browse. I've spent over $100 here so far and don't appreciate being treated with suspicion. Having worked in retail myself, I'm familiar with the signs of someone being monitored because they're assumed to be stealing, and that's how it feels every time I shop here. I really like the shop's selection--especially the Jellycats--but there are other local stores that carry similar products. I'm willing to give the shop one more chance, but if I experience this same treatment again, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a bit pricey - most of the gifts I saw were $9.99 and up, for small things, and they had some Sanders one-piece chocolates for 75c (I've seen them 25-50c in other stores).
