For $30, she threw some "rizz" on my boy! (At the age of 53, I have absolutely no clue if that word was just used properly or not?! Nonetheless, my kid was extremely happy about his new 'do, and I'm sure the 3rd grade "ladies" over at Whispering Oak Elementary would agree! My teenage daughter just "cringed". (I'm learning...). OK...well, now I feel would be a good time to conclude this review! Please know, and with 100% seriousness, our lady in the 2nd Booth from the front door was great! She was awesome at making my shy, always trying too hard to be cool, and quite picky, 9 year old feel great, comfortable and and with a newfound confidence. I suppose that is what a new look, expertly created, can do for you! I forgot to mention that she was quick, as well! We walked in (no appt) around 6:30pm pn a Tuesday night and there was only one other customer in the joint. During our 20 min or so, that guy finished and another guy entered and was promptly greeted and taken care of by the young man near the back. After roughly 17-20 minutes, my lil dood shook off the excess strands of cut hair and walked out of EVOLVED with a whole lot more "rizz" and you cannot place a price tag on that! My son's hair has NEVER looked better and I mean that!!! That is why we will be returning to EVOLVED every 3-4 weeks as we go forward!

If I was to speculate, my barber seemed distracted by a conversation that was happening on my right side where the hair was left uneven. It's an observation not a claim. This was before a vacation. Once I got home, I went to a different shop and they immediately saw and fixed the issue. This shop has a great reputation so I think might've been an off day.

With that said, Khalif is now my regular barber. Also, I would recommend setting a time with him up because if not, you might have to wait. Remember you can't have all three ever (easy, cheap, fast). Yesterday I brought my 7 year old son to Tage for a fohawk for his birthday haircut. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and was told they had some toys for kids to play with while we wait. They also had a nice selection of magazines and the barber shop was clean as well. We went on a Wednesday so the wait wasn't long either. Once it was my sons turn for his haircut I saw he was very patient and very professional making sure that his cut looked great. My son doesn't have hair on the on side of his head due to proton radiation and you wouldn't be able to tell because he blended his hair cut so well! My son also has a tracheotomy and he was careful when cutting around the back of his neck and when placing the cape on him. He also gave me a few tips on the sponge brush and where to buy one. We will be back again for more haircuts for sure. The price is reasonable and you can tell he takes pride in his work. read more

My boyfriend has been following Tage on Instagram for some while now, but had never visited him until yesterday. He's been going to the same barber over and over, not trusting anyone else with his hair. He decided to take the leap and switch it up, he got a cut he hasn't had in years, a frohawk with a design, and it looks so good! I couldn't stop smiling while he was getting it cut, my boyfriend looked so relaxed and comfortable and Tage looked in his element. He took his time and paid attention to detail, I could tell that this really is his art and his passion. He kept perfecting the cut until he was satisfied and we were satisfied as well. I think my bf has a new favorite barber and a new favorite barber shop. If you have the chance to stop by, you won't regret it. This review is way over due, but I took both of my boys in for their FIRST haircut on October 11. I live in North County and didn't want to have to drive, all the way down to SD just to get their hair cuts. So after doing research I came across Tage, I am very particular when it comes to my children, so I was glad when I came across previous reviews, that Tage does really well with children. Having read the reviews, I decided to book an appointment for my boys. Let me tell you, Tage did so well with my 8 and 4 year old! He was very patient, very detailed and took his time with my boys. I highly recommend this place if you need that perfect fade. Been coming here for a few months now after moving to North County. I've been cut up by 4 different barbers since I take whoever is available first and have never been disappointed. Humberto, who's on Instagram @ Culichifades is really good on asking exactly what u want and making it happen. Nothing worse then sitting in the chair knowing you're getting a haircut you know you're not going to like. Tage ig @ Tapertage is smooth and quick because no one wants to sit for an hour for a fade. And Bernie ig @ bmoney_fadez has hooked me up 2 different times and is as good as the rest of the barbers there. All in all every barber here can cut so check this place out. read more

I've been going to culture for about 2 years now and never had a bad experience. The Barbers are all so friendly and are really tentative to whatever it is that you need. The cuts are some of the best you can get in Southern California and absolutely worth the price and the wait. Big shout outs to Noel and Jose though, Noel has been cutting my hair for about a year and Jose is able to take care of me whenever Noel isn't available. The 2 of them are always so cool, friendly and easy to chat with and have a lot of cutting experience combined and are 2 of the best I have seen at their jobs on the west coast. Wow! Eddie really came to the rescue! I took my 15 year old son to a different barber and had a not so pleasant experience and a bad haircut. We both agreed that we needed to find a barber to fix it, but didn't know where. I found the Culture Lounge and decided to give it a shot. Eddie made sure to really talk to my son to see what he wanted and went to work. The attention to detail was obvious and he really turned it into the best haircut my son's had. I found Tage on Yelp and decided to visit his shop called The Spot Barber Shop (in Oceanside, NOT Escondido). I took my boyfriend and his 3 year old nephew in for some haircuts. He took his time with each one and gave them a clean cut! I loved it! My boyfriend and his nephew loved it too. It's really hard to find a good barber and my boyfriend is extremely picky with his hair (especially since he is active military) but we were both really pleased he was fast and efficient. Great atmosphere, great people, great place! I got my box braids done here. If you have ever gotten box braids done, you know it's a long process. I was at the shop for a good amount of time and got to see a lot of people coming in and out. All of the barbers/beauty stylists are super friendly and welcoming. I'm extremely happy with the service I received from Tage. My son was pretty adamant about not wanting his hair cut but when he agreed to cut it I quickly researched and found Tage. I was able to get an appointment the same day without much of a wait. My son is 4 so I was the one making all the decisions regarding the style but all I needed to do is show him what I wanted and he was able to duplicate. I have been taking my son to Tage for about 2 years now. My son always wanted to give me a hard time about getting his haircut. He doesn't like just anybody cutting his hair. Tage is really good with the kids and my son likes going to him without a struggle. When he wanted to grow his hair out, it came to the point where it had to go to get a fresh/clean look again. I would definitely recommend Tage to anyone looking for a decent and affordable haircut. I had asked for a medium to low skin fade and it was perfect. He caters to your preferences by going a step further and asking you about the little details like 'are you wanting the fade to drop in the back?', 'did you want a line up?', etc.. My baby definitely got hooked up! My son always complains his shape ups hurt and hates getting a haircut because of it. Not this time though... Tage really knew how to go about giving him a fresh shape up with no pain and my son left with no complaints. He said" I actually enjoyed that haircut". Tage is good at what he does. And the price inst bad. Recently moved to the SD area (Poway) and its been hard to find a barber that knows how to cut my hair, glad I decided to drive a bit out form where I live to find him. I'm very picky with my barbers which is why its taken me over 6 months to find one here. I brought my 7 year old son to Taper Tage after he cut his own baby hair off from the front. Tage did such an amazing job with him as it was his 1st hair cut ever! He was moving quite a bit but Tage was so patient with him and put his best efforts forward. Really good Quality haircuts. Got my cut by Beto. He took his time and ensured it was a quality haircut, and i didn't feel like he was just trying to have me in and out of the shop like a lot of other barber shops do. I wanted a shop that understood their mixed curly hair, but I also wanted the experience to still be something they enjoyed. Haircuts have always been one of those little things the boys and I do together, and I didn't want it to suddenly feel like a chore. Because our schedule is usually packed, the first time we went to Catrins we took a chance and booked three different barbers at the same time. Somehow we went 3-for-3. Lance, Rebekah and Cass have all been awesome. They take the time to listen to what we want, they're great with my boys, and they've created a shop where everyone feels part of the conversation. A lot of times it turns into one big conversation across the whole shop instead of three separate haircuts, and my kids dig it. It's relaxed, funny, welcoming, and still easy to get in and out without turning a haircut into a two-hour event. Most importantly, they're really good at what they do. They've learned my boys' hair and consistently get their cuts right. I even brought Grandpa in when he was visiting and he walked out completely happy too, so apparently they've got every generation covered. Great barbers, great culture, and exactly the kind of place I was hoping to find.

I sent him a couple ideas of what I wanted and he said no problem. He took amazing care of me and when he finally said are you ready to check it out, he turned me around to the mirror and man was I HAPPY with what he did. My husband's wirey gray hair and beard were looking dated and shaggy so I told him he needed to find a better barber. When he started going to G he began getting compliments on his hair from both men and women, I'm talking everywhere we'd go! Seriously can't keep my hands off my man when he gets a fresh trim cause he always looks so groomed up and handsome! One of them looked up and told me to "just hang out," so I waited, patiently, assuming it wouldn't be long. After more than 30 minutes of sitting there while they chatted and scrolled on their phones, no one even bothered to check in, give an update, or offer to start my haircut. At that point, I just walked out. I've honestly never been more annoyed with a business that seemed so uninterested in taking my money. It wasn't busy, there was no excuse, just a complete lack of customer service and professionalism. I try to support local barbers, but this experience made it clear that I'll be going somewhere else that actually values new customers.
