after after spending almost $45 for two Cod fishdinners and a walled eyedinner it was very disappointing. The codfish was like a basket of soggy grease. It was not done and it was floppy as if they soak it in a basket of Grease and threw it in my Carry-out it may have been a bad day because it was very busy but my expectation is to have the same quality food. My coworker who's from Illinois has been raving about Culvers for a few months now. When we had made our trip to Chicago and I had asked her for recommendations, she highly recommended Culvers. We couldn't make it work with our schedule, but managed to find one relatively close to us in Michigan! As per her recommendations, we tried a butter burger, their chicken tenders, deep fried cheese curds, and frozen custard. I thought the burger was good, but not something I'd make a special trip for. The chicken tenders, though, I would gladly come back for! The chicken was super moist and very tender. The cheese curds were squeaky and just perfect. One thing I like about Culver's is that the employees do seem to be friendlier than most other fast food joints. I can't remember the last time I saw a sourpuss face or some surly teenager who looked like they were being forced by gunpoint to work there. I've only gotten one questionable item at this location and that was back in November when I got the Flavor of the Day custard. It was supposed to be PB custard with chocolate and PB swirls. Turns out they just drizzled a little chocolate and PB on the top. Major disappointment! The custard is really yummy though. Decent service so far, the burgers have been fresh and hot, order were correct, staff was friendly and ordered was prepared as ordered. The drive thru line was a little slow, but i think it was people placing orders that were complicated or they don't know what they wanted. The fries were hot and they included salt and ketchup when requested. The burgers have been under spiced and a little underwhelming, but its a nice safe bet. the patty was thick and juicy and not dried out. MY sons new favorite burger! They do have pretty good burgers. MY son likes the double butter burger. I like the swiss mushroom burger and the prime rib sandwich. I've tried they're salads not bad and they even have good soups. Of course the custard is wonderful but I don't usually get any but the kids sure do love it. This is not your usual burger joint. You place your order, go to get your own drink and sit down. When your food is ready, a server comes out and brings it to you. The dining room is set off from the counter where you place your order. There are TVs around the dining area. Depending upon where you sit, you either get TV programming from satellite, or you get nothing but Culver's commercials. The burgers are definitely not kosher as the meat is cooked with butter, and meat and dairy is not kosher. However, this makes for a really juicy burger which is known for dripping juice. so, I advise eating the burger with it over your basket. That way the juices will drip there instead of on the table or yourself. My wife ordered the butter burger. She reported that it was juicy and flavorful. I ordered the Swiss cheese and mushroom burger. It is very juicy and richly flavorful. The french fries are nice and crisp with nice seasoning. This location is so friendly and honest, I left my purse there by accident, and the next day they had it and no one even touched the cash! That says a lot about the management.
