    Cheeseburger the right way
    King V.

I've been a long time customer of lefties cheesesteak at the original location on 6 mile and metal belt. In my opinion, their cheesesteaks are top-notch. Up until today I have never had a complaint. In fact, I often tell people about how good they are and recommend them. Now I've only had the cheesesteaks, the chickens, cheesesteaks, corn, beef, egg rolls, and corn beef sandwich, which is all top-notch. The employees are the only reason that this review did not get a one star. I've never had any other hamburgers, but the reviews and employees were all positive so curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a cheeseburger yesterday. You'll see from the photos why I didn't eat it. Customer service across all industries are at our all-time low. So I'm not sure why owners and management don't try to make a better effort to ensure repeat business. I asked for my burger to have grilled onions, I ordered at the store and waited for my order now when I opened up the box as you can tell from the pictures, the cheese wasn't melted and when I lifted the cheese from the burger burnt grilled onions were hidden underneath. The mayo was squeezed out of one side. I was hesitant about a $9 burger but if your business model is not to get me to but another one, then Lefty's surely accomplished that mission with flying colors. I lifted up the tomatoes on the bottom and they were shredded lettuce that obviously comes out of a bag and was not very appetizing at all, but what caught my eye was that there were no condiments actually on the burger except on the side from the pictures. I live in Detroit and I did not know the burger was constructed with so little care. So I didn't eat it. I wanted to show the restaurant exactly what they were handing out and I didn't wanna appear like I was trying to get a refund or read free food. I do business, seminars and business consulting, and although Lefyt's is successful businessman, he lacks the finesse to maintain a smidgette of customer loyalty. I return to the store today and I was only offered to remake the burger. I was watching the NFL playoffs so the store was closed. Now I drove to the store, ordered & paid for my food. Drove back home; food wasn't right and store closed before I made it back. So I drive back to store and was told that the owner doesn't allow refunds. I didn't ask for refund but I did want a little consideration for my inconvenience. I've spoken with manger many times and he's a super nice & friendly person, very knowledgeable & respectful. My problem wasn't with him, it was with the owner. Making a burger over that was ordered & paid for almost 24 hours ago isn't even doing the bare minimum of an apology for my inconvenience. They (staff) can't even give an extra sandwich or drink. Message to the owner, you can't impose your will on customers when you haven't met quality standards and expect them to be happy with remaking a product that was rightfully theirs to begin with. I know you won't respond to this review because it probably will force you to lie. My question to the owner is 2-part: 1st, from pics, would you eat it and say your expectations were met? 2nd, would you go to a food establishment under these circumstances and say, "They're doing a great job with customer service?" This review isn't all bad, the burger was actually a good burger, not a great burger but it was very good. You do have a great manager in Jonah because if not for him this would be a 1 star review without the possibility of ever returning. You don't care about your customers inconveniences but I hope you appreciate the great job he's doing. THE CUSTOMER YOU TREAT POORLY TODAY, MAYBE THE CUSTOMER YOU NEED TOMORROW. STOP TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THERE'S NOT SEVERAL RESTAURANTS IN YOUR AREA SELLING BURGERS!!!!

Fries stayed nice and crispy for the trip home.

It has been a while since I last visited Lefty's, certainly prior to its fresh coat of paint and digital screens. Of course, I had to have the cheesesteak, even though they have a robust menu, including burgers, corned beef sandwiches, wings, and loaded fries. I went with the original, large, which included thinly-sliced ribeye steak, grilled onions, and cheese sauce, on a soft hoagie roll. The sandwich was huge so I was only able to have half. I found the cheese sauce to be overly salty. The customer in line after me ordered hers with extra cheese sauce - so maybe it's just me. This was not the only cheesesteak sandwich available: the Southpaw, with Cheetos (a personal weakness) and the Winfrey, looked particularly interesting. I was also intrigued by the loaded fries - I saw the huge sign well after I ordered my plain fries. Incidentally, the fries remained crunchy despite being packed in styrofoam. I plan to have those the next time around and the onion rings, the cheesesteak egg rolls, the custard-based shakes... Service was a-okay.

Amazing food and service. The Big Poppa was huge. The meat was tender and flavorful. The lettuce was fresh and in proper proportion with the Thousand Island dressing. The Lefty's Cheesesteak was equally as delicious. Online ordering made it easy. The communication on my order was excellent. It was made faster than expected. The employees were efficient and polite. Lefty was there. (Nice Benz!)

I'm a fan of cheesesteak subs, and fries, and tots, and corned beef, and fried chicken sandwiches and flaming hot Cheetos and left handed people...haha In all seriousness if you're looking for a gooey & meaty sub (not un-chewable meat) tender minced meat!...then this is your spot. I'm a sucker for supporting small businesses, especially when the service is so friendly and the food is so good.

Smh! Just spend your money some place else. Food order was wrong and then argued about what was ordered.

I ordered the Italiano - Genoa salami, fire roasted ham, pistachio mortadella, capicola, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, on fresh focaccia bread. I liked how the sandwiches are not too thin and not too absurdly large. It's great value and just enough food to keep you over until dinner time. They have a menu board with multiple options listed. You order at the stand at the back of the store, and then our food was brought out to us even though we had ordered it to go. I am not sure if that is always the process- I was expecting to go to the counter to pick it up myself so that was a nice surprise! We ordered our sandwiches to go even though we were dining in as we knew we would be taking home leftovers. The seating area inside is no frills. They have less than 10 tables inside, and when we were leaving all of them were full with people waiting for seats. They did appear to have 2 tables outside but they were not being used as it was raining. They did have a carafe full of ice water that was self serve by the door, and they had large cups available which I appreciated! My eyes were immediately drawn to the Spicy Chicken Caesar and the Napa Club. Since this was my first time I ordered both and planned to share half of each sandwich. When I opened the Spicy Chicken Caesar I was surprised by the appearance of it. I had expected a lot more lettuce inside. It looked more like chicken salad rather than salad with chicken. The flavor was good and it was not too spicy! The focaccia was very soft. The Napa Club had great flavor to it, but when I was eating it I could really tell that there was avocado inside of it. The predominant flavor was the garlic and herb aioli. I did feel the chicken was a touch on the dry side. Overall, my experience and food were good; however, I am not sure I agree with the rave reviews. I would return in the future and would love to try some of their other meats aside from chicken, and their pasta salad also looked nice. The service was friendly and I feel like the price was fair. It's a nice addition to downtown Farmington!

This time, I went with the BB Special, thinly sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce on an onion roll. There is also Russian dressing on the sandwich, but there was so little of it, that it was barely discernable. That might explain why there were so many orders before mine that included Russian dressing on the side. The corned beef was delicious, piled high, and well supported with the onion roll (instead of rye, for example). It was excellent with the Faygo grape soda that was truly a treat. The sandwich was so huge that I only needed to have half, saving the other part for the next day. I loved the well-spiced meat and felt that the onion roll was perfect to hold up to the large portion of meat. The only drawback is the sandwich pick-up process. Customers who place their order in person have to wait elsewhere (outside, car) to see when their order is placed at the window before re-entering the restaurant to pick up their order. Otherwise, there would be too many customers in the tiny, enclosed space given that the restaurant is closed for dine-in. Service was fine.

The restaurant itself was clean, calm, and welcoming, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked really good. They do offer gluten-free buns, which was exciting to see at first. I did appreciate how straightforward and accommodating the staff were about it. They answered my questions without hesitation, which is always helpful when navigating gluten-free dining.
