The reason for 1 star is because we were told that delivery meant putting it in place, not dropping it off in the middle of our driveway! But guess where it was left?! And to make matters worse, the day they were supposed to deliver it, my husband had to call, only for them to claim we weren't on the schedule! "Luckily," they had a light delivery schedule for the rest of that day and could fit us in. Imagine if you'd taken the day off work for this, only to have the manager tell you that it wasn't on the schedule! Then, my husband and I had to lift a vanity that weighed a good few hundred pounds into the house ourselves! I don't know about you, but I don't lift weights regularly, so expecting me to do this was ridiculous! I'm not ashamed to admit that when moving the bottom piece without the counter top, it was so heavy and hard to handle, that I cried getting it past our front door. If we had known, we would have made arrangements in advance for help! Maybe most people in the market for a vanity have a contractor who will do the heavy lifting, but isn't part of good customer service at least asking every customer the question?! Good deal or not, it wasn't worth the physical pain and emotional suffering. Never again Frank Webb!

Overall they did a great job. The patio and retaining wall look great. The project took longer than expected, but those delays were all on our side. We took longer than we should have to make various decisions about light fixtures, etc. We also changed the scope of the project a few times, adding more areas of walkways that we decided needed to be refinished with the stamped concrete. We would recommend KBR for any project that you might have. Karen was great to work with and even when we were not following through with things on our end, she never lost her cool with us and was very patient waiting for us to come to decisions on things. I was also really impressed with the amount of products they had on display at their various stores. Kohler seems to be the favorite but they do carry my personal favorite Rohl/Riobel :) The first time I picked up a faucet I nearly dropped it as i was expecting it to be a pound or two like the ones at Home Depot, but it was closer to 10 or more pounds and i was informed that they are all brass not mixed metal or plastic. I worked at the uxbridge location for about 5 months and left on great terms as they are all great people. Slightly understaffed but not more than industry norm they definitely took great care of me as an employee and as it would be nice if they were paying me to say good things but I wouldn't take it even if that was offered but genuinely they are good people and seem to have something for everyone and a level of service for anyone. The prices are more than Home Depot but you won't be back to replace you faucet in a year unless there's some factory defect. I would say it's a fantastic opportunity for just about anyone. I just wasn't a great fit but more me problem than them and they treated with respect and care, which I greatly appreciate. The benefits were pretty awesome compared to job's previous and the other staff was closer to a family environment than a corporate nightmare. The closest comparison I have is Dunder Mifflin from the office. If you need plumbing products or even flooring they appear to have just about everything to do your bathroom over other than the drywall but tile they got if you're feeling that boujee. They gave him the run around about special orders and blamed Anderson. So I called spoke to Dave who said a manager will call me back. 3 days later no call back. So I emailed the owner Steve Carlino. The return was 2k on 50k orders AND I probably KT would have done my kitchen and floors with them for the house we are building. He instantly read my email. He forwarded my email to his GM (gotta love email tracking tools). 3 days later STILL not a peep. I call back "o yes the owner got your email he will be reaching out to you". 2 days later STILL no reply . One more call, one more left message. Finally, Steve gets back to me with a BS answer same as his team gave my builder. BUT he did offer that if I spent another 75k (do my kitchen or floors with them) he'd give me a 2k credit. And then I could sell the windows on Craigslist. So I replied ...... and as expected received no reply. Hello Steven, I'm sorry to bother you on vacation and I hope the weather in Florida is as good as we had in Juno beach a few weeks ago. I tried contacting the management at Douglas and when I spoke with someone (Dave?) he was going to call me back and never did. I then took it upon myself to reach out to you directly over the weekend. A few more calls (3 to be exact) with the same results this week until your email now. The customer service experience so far has been lack luster to say the least. I'm pretty firm with our return policies too and sometimes we go over and above the polices when it makes sense to satisfy a customer, especially a new customer. It's pretty disappointing to hear the solution is: spend another 50k with Douglas then we will credit $2,000, which is something I'd likely get the sales rep to give me anyways in normal negotiations and "builder" discounts and so forth. Also I'll strap these windows to my roof, drive them home, and as you said go sell the two windows on Craiglist to a stranger. Maybe I'll invite him him to meet the kids and play with the dog. If it is your final decision to not put the product on your "Boneyard" Close-Out & Discontinued Items section and not refund or credit my builder or me the $2,500 for the two standard double hung santone windows then so be it. I will share my unpleasant experience with Douglas Lumber with our community and social media to let people know how my customer experience has been. Maybe me being a customer is insignificant to you (seems the way it is) and while margins are low as you say, they aren't that low. Even at a low 20% margin, which I am sure you make north of that, you still make 10k and minus 2.5k still leaves 7.5k on the bone, makes a customer happy, and likely would get repeat business for flooring and our kitchen. Don't bother setting up a store credit as we likely won't be purchasing anything else from Douglas Lumber. There are so many other companies who provide the same or similar products, the real differentiator for any non-OEM is customer service. Enjoy the rest of the vacation time.

Update 11/8/20: see comments on my personal Facebook page…read more(Maureen Holmes) for comments on Robin Boyce after posting my review there. Unfortunately I am not the only one who has endured a bad experience with her. MH I warn anyone who will listen away from this unethical business and owner Robin Boyce. I had the misfortune to be her client and endure her careless, unprofessional, dishonest and ultimately abusive and vulgar treatment. My "custom kitchen" arrived without the custom elements and with a grossly oversized refrigerator. The kitchen designer blames someone else for a major kitchen error and refuses to fix it! (See photos) I had the exact same experience with the shutters and the custom stair-runner I ordered from her. They were both delivered with errors and missing parts, and Design West has done NOTHING to correct its errors. This is the worst experience I've ever had with another human being, period. I never received an apology on any mistake I swear to God. That's when I realized too late I had hired the wrong person. Robin Boyce/Design Center West scammed me by promising professional results and delivering dirt. Robin Boyce then turned verbally abusive when confronted with her easily disproved lies. (I have all documentation to prove my charges.) This last point deserves special mention. When I expressed my dismay at the errors, delays and lack of accountability, her demeanor shifted immediately from friendly to combative and borderline violent. It was a shock to learn the owner wasn't just a sleaze but mentally unhinged too. When I confronted her in her store after she ignored my contractor's emails and texts, she began screaming profanities at me while hurling insults about my appearance and character, which I presumed was an intimidation tactic. That felt sickening, but it worsened when she came at me with her arm pulled back as if to throw a punch, but thankfully she stopped herself before landing her fist in my face. I feel certain the only thing that stopped her was a possible assault charge. I would feel sorry for Ms Boyce if she wasn't a thief, and if her emotional instability didn't manifest in such an ugly manner. But no mental state excuses her dishonesty, mentally healthy or not. Not a word of this review is hyperbole. I lost thousands of dollars and was blindsided by a venomous verbal assault because I had the temerity to call out Robin Boyce on her mendacity and fraud. I could provide a colorful litany of her actions, but suffice it to say that it involved a lot of obscene finger, hip and hand gestures. Incidentally, her staff just sat there like dummies the entire time and let it all happen. Apparently they don't have an issue working for such a repulsive woman. Prior to my dealings with her, Robin was verbally abusive to my contractor on multiple occasions as well when he asked her about delayed deliverables. Following is an example of one the few correspondences between him and Robin that isn't littered with her F-bombs: "Shut up. Stop talking. Don't tell me what to do. Its not Maureen... its you. I'm surprised guys take your mouth, and the way you talk down to others; I suspect you've been punched a few times." This is the first---and I hope last--bad review I ever had to write. Let this brutally honest review serve as a public service announcement to warn others away from this troublemaker. Do not hire Design Center West. You will pay a premium for sloppy, mediocre results, and the owner will curse you when you express your dissatisfaction. This has been a yearlong nightmare that only ended after I hired someone else to fix all of her mistakes. Caveat emptor!

Any mistakes (Fedex dropped a vanity and it cracked) were handled quickly and replaced at no cost to me. Her attention to detail is incredible. Additionally, she was very focused on saving me money and making sure I was not buying things I did not need. It has been a true pleasure working with Robin and her team again.
