When I saw that a new waxing salon was opening on Richmond Row, I decided to make a change. I wanted someone who specialized in waxing and could achieve the look I was going for. Right away I was impressed by their online booking system. You can go on the website and choose a service and then select the time you want. As a child of the internet, I would much rather book online than use a phone and I'm sure anyone can appreciate the discreetness when booking an appointment for something a bit more personal. The salon is fresh and clean with a few products to purchase. The women working at this salon are always very friendly, never fake. On my first visit, I was taken back to the waxing room within a few short minutes. I was given a background on the products they use and how the high quality leaves you less red and is a more comfortable experience. As someone with fair skin, I was happy with that! Their claims were true. While I was still a bit pink in the end, I was not as red as I normally get. In the couple times i have been to Smooth, they have switched to a wax that doesn't require the strips. I felt it was much less pain overall with the same result in the end, beautiful brows. These girls know what they are doing. Never again will I risk getting my brows done at a regular salon. Too many times I would leave with extremely skinny brows or bruised eyes (ouch!). For those who want a bit more grooming and choose the waxing way of life, Smooth has many options for memberships from brows to bikini's. If you purchase the membership it ends up being a bit cheaper in the end. And gentlemen, there is a whole menu of services you can get as well. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is new to waxing or has been doing it a while, very low ouch-factor with high quality results, PLUS it is locally owned and in the heart of Richmond Row!

The place was well-designed, with manicures set up near the door, and a wall for privacy for people getting their hair done. The hair-washing bowls looked far more comfortable than the standard ones (being tall, I loathe scrunching down to fit in most of them), and there were private rooms to the back of the shop for spa treatments. Elena (I'm sorry if I got this wrong, I am terrible with names!) was a lot of fun to talk to, as well; it seems the art of conversation is something a lot of stylists have lost, but not her. She also gave me some good tips on how to manage my hair in future, things easily done at home. When I need a haircut or a style again, I am definitely going here.

I had gone to another cheaper nail salon and mentioned my ankle and they just ignored it entirely. The ladies at Chic are professional and accommodating. They take a lot of care to make sure you're comfortable and they do a great job. I haven't had hair services here, I mainly have gone for the Aveda Mani/Pedis, they are AMAZING (Lindsay & Meghan are awesome!), I've done the express mani/pedi as well, also great. I've had my brows waxed and a number of elemental facials, all fantastic experiences. The only thing I would say negatively, is that when you're in the back room for a facial, you can hear a lot going on in the salon, so it's not super 'peaceful', but it's still great! I would recommend this salon and spa (and have) to all my family and friends. (I do believe they accept walk-ins, but I always book in advance) - little tip - if you're interested in a Mani/Pedi go to the "Packages" tab on the website and book a "Basics" package, it's an extra couple bucks, but you get an eyebrow wax included. **Update** I have since had my hair styled here for my brothers wedding, they did a great job! I also had my makeup done, and it was done beautifully.

I had never heard of It's All About Me but managed to get a same day appointment and gave it a try. I have heard horror stories about shellac removal and normally opt for regular polish but I was very happy with the service here. I couldn't remember what brand of shellac I had on (apparently some brands are easier to remove than others) so it took about 30 minutes, which apparently is longer than usual. But, that's because she didn't just scrape it off and ruin my nails. The woman who helped me took her time and was very patient and gentle. I would definitely go back for a regular manicure because of the good service. The prices are very reasonable for a downtown spa too.

I really wanted to love Skintreet. This review is based off of an experience with a single…read moreesthetician and doesn't necessarily reflect the entire salon. As a specialist in Brazillian waxing, I expected a high level of professionalism and cleanliness. My biggest concern was with the fact that the wax was not sanitary. I studied at an esthetics school in Montreal and the first rule of waxing was NEVER double dip your spatula, etc. Unless policy at Skintreet is to use a fresh pot of wax for each client (which I doubt) the esthetician was not following this golden rule. The method was: bare hands, into wax pot, onto skin, wax area, hands back in wax pot. In comparison, I have never been to a SINGLE salon or spa that does this. The estheticians wear gloves or at least ALWAYS use fresh spatulas EACH time they access the wax. I've had several Brazillians since, and all were less painful - which is less of a concern to me than the cleanliness issue. The price ended up being around $70. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just plain dangerous. It's possible this esthetician is no longer with the salon, but it was enough to make me not consider going back. I *doubt* such a high end salon doesn't follow sanitation policy, and it was likely just a rogue case, but it'd be worth asking about if you make an appointment.

I wanted to give a better review to this spa as I have been to Spa Asiana before to get my eyebrows…read morethreaded and found they did a great job. So when I saw they did pedicures (and I get them every 6 weeks generally) and had a spot open on Saturday, I booked it! The online booking is easy to use which is great. Once I actually got to the salon however things did not go so well. There was no friendly welcome and instead an awkward smile with no real greeting. Once I stated why I was there, they got the chair ready for me and I got to pick my colour. Whenever I've gone to a Spa and paid more then 35 dollars for a pedicure, I've always been offered refreshments so I found it a little odd when this spa did not, however that is not a reason I would give them a lower review. As the pedicure continues things got a bit worse. When my feet were being scrubbed, I found that the esthetician went too hard and I wasn't able to put pressure on my heels making it difficult to walk. I've never had a lot of dead skin on the heels of my feet so I was surprised she was going harder on it but I figured they can see me more then myself. However I was wrong as I was in a lot of pain after trying to walk the rest of the day and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. There were also one of the workers kids there. Normally I do not have a problem with kids being in a spa especially as I understand child care can be difficult to find or things come up. But once again as the pedicure continued, it got less enjoyable. The kids were running around and making lots of noise, which normally I wouldn't be bothered by but when I'm paying 50 dollars plus tip for a pedicure, it should be relaxing. The child also started to bother the esthetician working on me (who I think may have been her mother) which made it hard to not mess up on my pedicure and really pay attention to what she was doing. I felt her time was being wasted with me there and she should really be paying attention to the child. The child later also lost the colour of polish that I was to have (it was later found but I had already decided on a different colour). Once again just making things a bit more difficult and making me feel as though I should have not come in. I'd like to state that I was the only person in the salon at that time. Once the esthetician removed my toe separators she screwed up the big toe. So she tried to redo it a couple of times but it didn't turn out okay at all. At this point, I didn't want to say anything as she tried a few times and I really felt they were trying to rush through me so they could close and leave. I am unfortunately disappointed at the outcome especially as 50 dollars plus tip is a lot to spend on a pedicure that was already ruined before I left the spa. I do not think I would recommend this Spa for pedicures.
