I showed up today for a scheduled tee time at Willow Run Golf Course and was told the course was…read moreclosed due to wet conditions from the recent rain. While portions of the course were clearly wet, the rain and thunderstorms had already passed and the rest of the day was expected to be clear. We ultimately drove less than 10 minutes down the road and played another course without issue. I was not upset that Willow Run made the decision to close. Courses have to make judgment calls to protect playing conditions. What was unacceptable was how the situation was handled. When I walked into the pro shop, the first thing the employee behind the counter said to me was, "You think you would have called." When I asked why, he said I could have saved myself the gas. I explained that I had a reservation and that, if the course was closed, the course could have contacted golfers with tee times to let them know. Instead of acknowledging that, he continued insisting that I should have called before coming. I told him that starting the conversation by blaming a customer who had a reservation was unnecessary and unprofessional. I then asked whether the course was definitely closed even though the weather had passed, and he confirmed that the issue was standing water on the course. I left, but as the door was closing, I heard him make another comment under his breath while another customer was apparently dealing with the same situation. I went back inside and asked him to repeat what he had said. At that point, the interaction became completely unacceptable. He grabbed a golf club, came around the counter, called me a "chump," and said, "Let's go," in a manner I understood as challenging me to fight. The other customer actually began trying to calm him down. I asked the employee for his name, which he provided...it's "Dickey", which he is appropriately named. Again, I have no issue with a golf course closing because conditions are too wet. I do have an issue with a customer being blamed for arriving for a reservation, being spoken to disrespectfully, and most importantly, having an employee escalate a disagreement into what appeared to be a physical challenge while holding a golf club. That is not how any customer should be treated, and management should take this incident seriously.

St Albans is the first golf course where I ever played 18 holes of golf when I first started…read moreplaying golf. As such, I have fond memories of St Albans and it's still one of my favorite courses. St Albans has some challenging holes (#10 - a long downhill, #15 - a short par 3 and #17 which goes forever) but, overall, it's a very friendly course and is not too intimidating for those of us who don't usually break 100. The course is scenic; it has some hilly holes and some relatively flat holes; there's plenty of water and not much in the way of sand traps or bunkers. The staff in the clubhouse is great - friendly and efficeint. And, the cost of 18 holes is pretty reasonable.

We were just a twosome and was simply trying to golf the back nine. We were crossing over at 6:40 in august were sunset isn't till 8:48 and the clubhouse was only letting walkers out. Didn't make any sense from a business aspect. Just lost $50 for the evening and sure won't be rushing to come play here. Good thing there is another course right down the road that we are able to keep on playing.

Terrible! Very rude staff. Called and booked a T time for 9 holes. When I got to the course and…read morepaid they charged me for 18 and said the 9 hole rate only starts an hour after our T time and they do not give refunds. They booked the time for me! And refused that they had made a mistake. They gave me a rain check that only covers half of the 9 hole fee. Besides that the course was awful. Felt like I was golfing in a farm field. The cart paths were terrible too. Definitely will not be golfing here again.

This place is managed horribly. It's a gamble on if they will be open or not. There really isn't much to aim for except sand since most of their distance flags are knocked over. They have so much potential here since there aren't too many driving ranges near it. The other perk is the beautiful view of downtown. Find some investors and build a huge 2 story driving range where the whole thing is covered and heated. Collaborate with the brewery next door and find a way to implement alcohol.

We've been playing here for a number of years and, while it's still in pretty decent shape, the…read morecondition of the course is not as good as in years past. It may be a combination of this summer's extremely hot tempatures in July, an overabundance of rain or that fact that the course is "for sale". The course itself is in OK condition but has looked better in past years. The owners are trying to sell the course - the for sale sign doesn't specify that the golf course is being sold as a golf course or if it's being sold for development. In any event, I think that the owners aren't putting a lot of money into the course at this point and are generally doing just the basic maintenance and upkeep. But, as I said, it's generally in OK - just not great - condition. This course has its share of hills but is still a very walkable course (the group I golf with generally likes to walk). The course is challenging but not overly difficult and is a fun course to play. Golf is a good sport during this pandemic and can be played safely while maintaining proper social distancing. On the flip side, however, also due to the pandemic, most of the golf courses are busier this summer than in past summers. Good course for a fun round of golf.
