I had trust in this veterinary service for over 30 years. That trust has plummeted in the last…read moreseveral years. Their service has deteriorated since the hospital was bought out by an overseas veterinarian conglomerate. In November we took our female poodle for an examination, concerned over her sudden constant coughing. We were informed she was fine, just a low-to-moderate heart murmur. Coughing persisted, two weeks later she collapsed with congestive heart failure and the emergency vet hospital we took her to could do nothing to save her. On January 19 having agreed to an electrocardiogram for her brother, we awaited promised results to take a week. We are still waiting for a response from the procedure. A telephoned request for the results two weeks ago was never responded to. A subsequent emailed request for results was also ignored to this date. I would no longer recommend this establishment to anyone who loves their companion pet.

I have been a client of the Orleans Vet Hospital for over 30 years and based on my recent…read moreexperiences I can tell you, this is no longer a quality organization. My dog was recently put on a course of treatment by one of the vets at this hospital, and this treatment was not successful. We tried for days to contact the vet for follow up action, but we received no response. We ended up having to take our dog to another vet for alternate treatment. Do not bother doing business with this organization, they no longer provide quality treatment. There are better vets in Orleans that cost less.

Following the technician's review, she said to the doctor it was just "nausea". She had no empathy for my cat. He vomited while we were there and had diarrhea and did not even offer to clean up and instead made a joke of it. The doctor ran many tests and had to sedate my cat first (keep in mind my cat could hardly move), blood tests, X-rays, etc ($1,600) just to say that either it was 1) poisoning, but did not treat him for poisoning or suggest calling poison control or 2) something else he is not sure and gave him meds for liver and nausea. My cat passed 4 hours later. I went to this hospital out of desperation as the others were full, and I wish I had not. I brought my other cat to our usual vet a week later for a check up and to discuss my passed cat's symptoms, and the vet there (Westboro Animal Hospital - which is amazing) said that based on the symptoms it sounds like it was a heart blood clot and should have been euthanized. If anyone needs an emergency vet, Capital City is highly recommended and OAESH on Lola street seemed nice (where I brought the body for cremation). The lack of empathy and care at 10th line animal hospital made a horrible situation so much worse. They are just in it for the money, avoid here if your pet has anything serious.

When Bodhi came in for his appointment we were greeted by the receptionist who already had an idea of who Bodhi was. It was really nice to know that even after a phone conversation the staff seemed to take an interest in getting to know my puppy. We only waited a minute or two until we were showed the fairly sized examination room. The room is very plain with benches and a metal examination table. Bodhi saw Dr. McLaren. Dr. McLaren is very knowledgable. She told me what to expect from the breed (Bodhi is a chihuahua) and gave me basic information about how to address them. It was good to get this kind of advice on the first consultation. Dr. McLaren went over shots, medication and future appointments that Bodhi will need. It seemed like a lot of information but she assured me that if I had any question or needed any help that I could call and they would be happy to help. Bodhi seemed to have had a great time at the vet. He discovered he was a healthy puppy, that people are gentle and can be trusted and most importantly to him, Bodhi discovered his love for treats as the vet gave him several of them and he could not get enough.

I have been using them for years (more then 10) for shots and things, they put down 2 of my dogs…read moreover the years, one for Cancer and one for Old Age, but I never really NEEDED them, until last Saturday, July 27 2019. They had met my new male cat about 3 months previous for his rabies and Distemper first shots. Had him checked over and he is in excellent health. I got him to keep Maggy, my miniature Dachshund company. Her friend and my main dog had passed away at 15 years old, Chloe. Maggy had started barking non-stop if I went out and left her alone after Chloe died. So I knew someone and I got buddy and the barking stopped and they got along great. March 2019 was his 1 year birthday. Then around july 10 2019 Maggy passed away right here at home. She was also 15 years old. Buddy seemed to take it hard looking for maggy for about a week then he started to come around. Then on the 25 of July around 11pm Buddy started acting strange meowing a lot and he peed in the Tub and the Kitchen sink, which was weird? Then Friday afternoon he started throwing up. And he was making these painful screeching sounds. Then it all stopped for a while but he would not eat and he was not drinking. Then around 12am he started drinking and by 1 am he was peeing and squeaking in pain. I felt so bad for him and now he was peeing pure blood!! I was afraid of the blood loss also. So at 9am Saturday morning I walked into the vets office to make sure they were open then ran back and got buddy. I came in and told you it was an emergency and he was bleeding and lost a lot of blood! He was so weak he couldn't walk. Do you remember your answer to me after you looked at the other girl and the monitor? "Come back at 9:45" I was shocked and I said I don't know if he will make it another hour ! then you said "well sir we have other customers" as I looked around seeing I was the only one there. I said I am a customer and I have been a customer a long time and I need you to help my cat!! And you told me to come back at 9:45 I could not believe how heartless you bunch are to refuse to look at a one year old cat who has lost blood and still bleeding and in bad shape. I left and went to another vet that I have never been to before and when they saw the cat they took him from me right away no questions asked. They had him hooked on Intravenous within a minute to help his pain and more. Buddy didn't make it and I am sure your delaying his treatment didn't help. BTW, you sent me a card when Maggy past a couple of weeks ago. Maggy was a Dog and you sent me a photo of a cat? I won't need your services anymore, I would never bring another animal to put in your care in fear of what may happen should you fall behind schedule a few minutes. When I walked out of your office on Saturday with my half dead cat bleeding from his penis, I was disgusted with the way the situation was handled. Your business is all about money and nothing about the love of animals. And money was not even a question at the time. I probably ended up paying a lot more at a strange vet when they were swamped and there was no one in your offices when I left. I would not recommend these people to anyone.

I know a lot of people (friends, family, and co-workers) have been coming here for over 10 years and have never had an issue. My dog had to have a large orthopedic surgery performed, and the doctor was so amazing, my dog is now able to live a normal, pain free life. Its disgusting how people feel the need to rant and make this clinic look bad when they are actually amazing staff. Its unfortunate that you had a bad experience, but you really went above and beyond to try and make them look bad. I'm sure your dog is fine.
