Next time I stop, I will allow some extra time to sit and enjoy my treats outdoors on the lovely covered porch.

We had the cheese and bacon scone and felt quite impressed with how much it tasted like bacon and cheddar cheese while maintaining the texture of a scone. It was the first time ever that I tried a savory rather than sweet scone and it offered something I didn't expect along with the comforting expectation you get with a scone. The people who work here are super friendly and welcoming and let us sample something they didn't even have on display. They were eager to talk about the history of their bakery and inspiration behind their baked goods and that makes you feel good about supporting their business! The prepared items cover everything from prepared deli salads and cheese to hot sauces and pickles to locally processed meat. I'm not into the butcher aspect, but I appreciate the local and sustainable sourcing. The food is good and well thought out. The space is very nicely designed and well maintained. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated that they were willing to prepare a breakfast sandwich for me and my partner with the ham on the side. Everybody won, with me getting a vegetarian breakfast sandwich and my partner getting some sliced ham to add to her portion. All told, this is an excellent establishment for a low key outing while you're visiting Ligonier. The hours are extensive, so it fills just about any breakfast/lunch/snack type need. It honestly has the feel of an early stage Starbucks with a friendly "enjoy this space with friends" vibe combined with a hip local grocery store.

The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.
