Tasty, fun and a great variety of options! I had heard great things about this spot but it is fairly out of the way for us unless we are in the area for another reason. I was picking up my son from a summer camp and finally decided to make a stop. We were all so glad that we did! (and honestly, even if it is out of the way is worth a stop). The shop is very cutely decorated. Tons of great photo opps if you are in to that sort of thing. But even if you aren't, it is just fun to eat your treats in such colorful and fun surroundings. There are a variety of tasty ice cream flavors to choose from (and they will let you sample them). You can order just ice cream in a bowl or cone, but they also have a nice variety of sundaes and treats to choose from as well. The staff is more than willing to give you samples to help you make up your mind and is great at giving suggestions when you have decision paralysis. The neon light greenery wall is a great touch for those looking for photo ops for the internet. Everyone scooping was extremely helpful, patient, and kind. We LOVE the Ligonier Creamery. It has become one of our favorite ice cream spots. We are located in Latrobe but frequent Ligonier for the food and shops. So happy it has extended hours throughout the year. Sometimes you just want ice cream, even if it's a cold winter day! They always have a variety of hard, house-made flavors available. They do free samples which is a plus! My daughter and I love to sample new flavors! The staff is always super nice and accommodating. They have a spacious seating area inside (tables, booths, and bar seating) and there are benches outside as well. We did their "Fill a Stanley" sale on their last day of operation before a short period of being closed until Spring and it was so worth it to stock up a bit and have some ice cream at home on hand. read more

We love going here. It's been a great addition to town. We love going in and getting something refreshing. My go to is the m&m razzle. There's a cooler with different treats in it as well as an ever changing thing of ice cream flavors and menu with all that you could imagine. You can also get ice cream coins/chips for future delicious fun. It's usually pretty packed and loud in there as it has the nice wooden floor from the building G.C. Murphy days. There's even a sign there from those days. You can take your treats outside and enjoy on a bench out front or on the diamond. read more

Everyone loves ice cream. I got the butter pecan and it was good. I asked about a pup cup but they didn't have any. We just gave the pup a little of our ice cream in a bowl that we had in the car. I can't say the ice cream was spectacular but it was nice to sit on the benches outside while we enjoyed the ice cream. read more

Lots of selection of ice cream here! Prices were great too. I was in Ligioner visiting from California and the family decided to stop in and get something sweet. The girls working the shop were nice and hard working so the line moved quickly. The ice cream was delicious and so were the toppings. I got a vanilla sundae with bananas, strawberries, chocolate, nuts and whip cream. Great portion for the price. Inside the place was nice and cool. There are a variety of flavors and sizes that should satisfy anyone. My husband's favorite is their banana split. I like the milkshakes and sundaes. They offer homemade waffle cones as well as the regular cake cones. I noticed a few other reviewers mentioned the service. The most recent time I was here there were two women working the counter. One was very friendly, the other not so much. The Creamery is located on the Diamond in part of a restored building that used to be the GC Murphy's 5 & 10. Quite nostalgic for me as my first job was working there back in the late 1960s. It is nice that the original creaking, wooden flooring was still there. Ice cream was really good, but the service was absolutely awful. Everyone was rude. We asked if they could make an affogato and they acted as if we were asking for some big thing. They didn't know what it was and made a huge deal out of it. Then we explained how to make one which it's just a scoop of ice cream with coffee. Then they kept rolling their eyes and looking at us the entire time even when we left the store. It was one of the most unnecessarily, rude encounters we have ever had. read more

We stumbled upon this place during a road trip while looking for a place to use the restroom. What a find! Not only were the restrooms clean and imminently usable, but the ice cream was out of this world! Probably the creamiest and most delicious ice cream I've had in several years, at least. I tried the butter pecan and apple pie flavors, while my daughter had the chocolate chocolate chip. The apple pie ice cream had homemade (I think they said) apple pie chunks in it! My wife can also vouch for their chocolate milkshakes as being amazing. When we finally arrived at our destination in Pittsburgh, I mentioned the place to the first friends we visited, and they immediately knew what I was talking about. Although situated on The Diamond in the middle of Ligonier, Pa., and looking like a 1960's ice cream parlor with wood floors, knotty pine paneling and huge wall hung menu, the bottom line is always the quality of the main product - the ice cream. We ordered a small cup with two scoops of their coolies, the Cherry Vanilla and Butter Pecan. Also, had a sample of the Grape, which was too sweetly grape; more like a Kool-Aid flavor, than what I expected from ice cream. We found the Cherry Vanilla to be lacking strong vanilla taste, while the Maraschino Cherries were also too sweet and too few to really capture our tongues. The Butter Pecan was better, with a pleasant nuttiness, but not blessed with many chunkies. Glad we didn't order more. The atmosphere was nice enough, and the young women behind the counter, attentive and helpful. But, in the end, if the ice cream is not superlative, there is no real reason to return. read more

Never saw so many different ice cream choices. Right in the middle of downtown Lingonier. They even have doggie ice cream.

What a wonderful ice cream shop. Spacious, well lit, very clean, but what was most impressive was the ice cream itself. They had a good selection of soft serve. Normally all you can find is chocolate or vanilla, but here, on this day they had Marshmellow and Creme Brûlée - a very nice surprise since I favor soft Steve over the packed stuff. Now, speaking of the packed stuff, they had plenty to choose from. They had the son stays such as Butter Pecan, to more exotic choices such as Chocolate Brownie. As a tourist to Ligonier, I loved this very quaint and charming ice cream shop. With such a nice atmosphere I thought the food must be authentic. My wife got the butter pecan ice cream and liked it, but I was sorely disappointed to see that the milkshake was not made with their homemade ice cream. My girlfriend, her mother and I stopped by on a whim while we were in the area antique shopping over the weekend (7/1/17) and we were well pleased with our decision. Everything from the service to the food we ordered was fantastic. I had asked the employees if they could recommend somewhere to eat in the area that wasn't a big chain restaurant, and they all had something to input into the conversation, which I guess caught me a little off-guard. Rather than the possible single suggestion I was hoping for, the folks behind the counter took me on a culinary tour of the Ligonier area. Sadly though (only a little sad) the portions we were served at the creamery more than did the trick for us, and we made it back home before stopping for more food crossed any of our minds. I don't know that I've ever been in the area before, and I can't say when I'd make the trip again, but I do know that stopping here will be on the agenda should the chance ever present itself in the future. read more

Instead of 'Oh I'm sorry, would you like to try another flavor" I got, a blank stare.. and then blown off.. NICE. So, then a bunch of people came in and I some how ended up at the end of the line... After waiting a while.. the flavor I wanted was gone and replaced with another.. so, I finally ordered and payed for, another flavor. It was okay, but I think I'll pass on the yogurts of yesterday.. This is such a cute ice cream shop! It really appeals to the small town charm the rest of the diamond in Ligonier does. We stopped in for an ice cream treat with our two toddlers and all four of us were pleased with our selection! I had the butter pecan on a waffle cone which was delicious! The cone was perfect too, other places they become stale, but not here! My son had a scoop of chocolate and my daughter had a scoop of blackberry chip, both were very good and good portion sizes for them. My husband had a chocolate shake which was delicious...thick and creamy. The girl behind the counter was very polite. She and the owner chatted with us about the area. They have so many frozen dessert choices, you'll definitely find something for everyone here. Added bonus if you have a member of your party who is glutten and/or dairy intolerant they serve slushies. Only downside (hense 4 stars) is they dont take credit cards.
