Fill a Stanley day + ice cream cups on counter
    Sarah S.

We LOVE the Ligonier Creamery. It has become one of our favorite ice cream spots. We are located in Latrobe but frequent Ligonier for the food and shops. So happy it has extended hours throughout the year. Sometimes you just want ice cream, even if it's a cold winter day! They always have a variety of hard, house-made flavors available. They do free samples which is a plus! My daughter and I love to sample new flavors! The staff is always super nice and accommodating. They have a spacious seating area inside (tables, booths, and bar seating) and there are benches outside as well. We did their "Fill a Stanley" sale on their last day of operation before a short period of being closed until Spring and it was so worth it to stock up a bit and have some ice cream at home on hand.

Everyone loves ice cream. I got the butter pecan and it was good. I asked about a pup cup but they didn't have any. We just gave the pup a little of our ice cream in a bowl that we had in the car. I can't say the ice cream was spectacular but it was nice to sit on the benches outside while we enjoyed the ice cream.

Great idea to sell these with the ice cream

Lots of selection of ice cream here! Prices were great too. I was in Ligioner visiting from California and the family decided to stop in and get something sweet. The girls working the shop were nice and hard working so the line moved quickly. The ice cream was delicious and so were the toppings. I got a vanilla sundae with bananas, strawberries, chocolate, nuts and whip cream. Great portion for the price. Inside the place was nice and cool. I loved the decorations and the small town feel.

We had the "Razzles", Chocolate Covered Cherry & Brownie Fudge. The business is located right in the main circle. A quaint little place with an old time feel. The service was quick and the people very friendly. The DQ Blizzard copies were extremely good.

There are a variety of flavors and sizes that should satisfy anyone. My husband's favorite is their banana split. I like the milkshakes and sundaes. They offer homemade waffle cones as well as the regular cake cones. I noticed a few other reviewers mentioned the service. The most recent time I was here there were two women working the counter. One was very friendly, the other not so much. The Creamery is located on the Diamond in part of a restored building that used to be the GC Murphy's 5 & 10. Quite nostalgic for me as my first job was working there back in the late 1960s. It is nice that the original creaking, wooden flooring was still there. There is a boutique and Mexican restaurant in the same building.

Although situated on The Diamond in the middle of Ligonier, Pa., and looking like a 1960's ice cream parlor with wood floors, knotty pine paneling and huge wall hung menu, the bottom line is always the quality of the main product - the ice cream. We ordered a small cup with two scoops of their coolies, the Cherry Vanilla and Butter Pecan. Also, had a sample of the Grape, which was too sweetly grape; more like a Kool-Aid flavor, than what I expected from ice cream. We found the Cherry Vanilla to be lacking strong vanilla taste, while the Maraschino Cherries were also too sweet and too few to really capture our tongues. The Butter Pecan was better, with a pleasant nuttiness, but not blessed with many chunkies. Glad we didn't order more. The atmosphere was nice enough, and the young women behind the counter, attentive and helpful. But, in the end, if the ice cream is not superlative, there is no real reason to return.

Never saw so many different ice cream choices. Right in the middle of downtown Lingonier. They even have doggie ice cream.

Cool that we can be entertained watching food being prepared. Our server, Essense, took our drink orders and gave us a couple minutes to peruse the menu. Salads with homemade ranch dressing arrived soon. Our server was terrific at keeping our dinner at a relaxed pace. Soon our entrees arrived. One blackened Mahi-Mahi and one beef short rib. Nice portions for both dinners. We didn't save room for desserts but, we ordered a couple coffee drinks for our ride home. The golden latte and toasted almond chai latte were a great finish during our drive home.

On the outside, you're greeted with plenty of outdoor patio seating in front of the restaurant and live music from an artist playing tunes. Inside is a spacious bar, lounge and woodsy interior with another room with tables and larger party seating. Since we had a little one with us, we thought more fitting to sit outside, watch the horses and carriages pass and enjoy the fresh air. We were told by the hosts that the seating in the front, though unoccupied, wasn't available, but the tables on the side (which I thought were for storage as they weren't set, cleaned or too presentable looking) were. Although a bit confused by that note, we decided to sit outside. It seemed that there was only one server working the outside area as we saw her hastily going back and forth. We were sat at 5:35pm or so. After about 10 minutes, she took our drink orders and 10 minutes later we then ordered our food. We got the drink we ordered then patiently awaited our food. A little after 6:05p, it started to sprinkle with rain outside. If you know PA, the rain can come down hard and heavy, quick. We asked our server if they had other seating available who went to check. As we were sitting on the side of the building - in an uncovered area - we went inside around 6:15p to ask if there was other seating available. Surely a rain soaked toddler and water ruined food isn't the best look for a restaurant serving its guests.. Both the younger lady hosts and a man (not sure his relation to this restaurant), John, seemed a bit perplexed by our request. He then proceeded to advise that the umbrella-covered seating in the front of the restaurant wasn't available, pulls his phone out to check the weather, notes that it doesn't say it's raining, but instead says "yeah, I don't know what that is, maybe it's a neighbor spraying a hose nearby" (while another employee says "I see the rain on the window in front of us") and doesn't really provide any solution for us to sit so we go back outside. Very confused by that interaction, when we saw our server next, we told her that we would be leaving and we'll pay the check for the one drink we ordered. Another girl came out and apologized, saying she wasn't sure why they wouldn't let us sit inside or anywhere else and proceeded to take us to a table inside. Our now hangry and somewhat sprinkled on toddler got her food, noodles with butter, at 6:20p and we got our dishes at 6:30p. The food looked decent though I can't comment on its flavor and taste of our meals as I had no appetite then. I don't know who would want to enjoy a meal there after that interaction. No apology or conversation from a manager was ever had, no items removed from the bill or a complimentary item provided to make up for the poor experience. We didn't eat much as we were quite off put but paid the bill in full. I still have no idea who the "John" guy is and what purpose he may serve there aside from the blatant disregard of guest's concerns and a poor example set in front of the younger employees. Our server and some of the other runner girls were kind, so I don't think customer service and general decency as a human is lacking from this town but this experience and this specific restaurant left that unfortunate impression. If he or they didn't want us there, I surely would have appreciated the honesty so we could spend our money and celebrate Father's Day weekend elsewhere. I don't plan on coming back and only Yelp members don't visit either. If I could tell you to avoid this restaurant at all costs, I would.

But when I looked up ice cream places in the area on Yelp, I saw a picture of a wildly large cone from here and this had to be the place. It turns out it was only a mile or two from where I was, and I can't believe I haven't found it sooner! I pulled in promptly when they were opening at 11:30 and the server was helpful and fast. I asked if that enormous cone was a size large and she said yes, so I ordered that in the rotating twist flavors of coconut and blueberry and also got a baby cup of vanilla soft serve for my dog, which for a baby cup was enormous. Together they were under $5. So fair! We went to sit in a nice covered patio area. There's a lot of outdoor seating space! While we were sitting, the place started to get busy with people coming for lunch as well as ice cream. They were ordering things like burgers and quesadillas from what looked like nice grill menu. At the prices here, I'm not surprised that I saw a couple of large families come to eat. I mentioned this to a friend who lives in the area and she never realized they have food. Maybe they don't publicize that on their socials enough and they should, everything very good. My ice cream was creamy and delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. This will probably become a go-to stop for me on this frequent trip !
