My husband called Saturday morning to see what kind of gluten free options they had. He was given six options. When he got there (literally three minutes later) there were only two options. He went ahead and bought them and we were so disappointed! They tasted as if they had been sitting in the case a few days. Both cakes (one was red velvet, one was vanilla) were extremely dry. My friend and I buy cupcakes here as often as we can. We have never been disappointed with cupcakes. They have been amazing....ALL of them. However we do have one BIG complaint. This place is always in a hurry to close early on Saturday. At least 4 times in the last year we would arrive around 20 minutes prior to scheduled closing and this place will already be closed because it "sold out" of cupcakes. Once we did arrive about 30 minutes before closing and it was open. The teenagers behind the counter then offered us a dozen cupcakes for $5. We couldn't pass that up!! If Cupcrazed offered those cupcakes at a reduced price on Monday and stayed open until it's scheduled time on Saturday, I think it would have more satisfied customers. read more

I go here most Tuesdays for $2 cupcakes, and it truly never gets old. Each time I've been, there's at least two new flavors I've never seen, and I can always trust that which ever I choose will be promisingly delicious. It's a really adorable shop and there's a good amount of seating considering the space. They keep it interesting and colorful with all their cupcake flavors, cake pops, and decorative cookies. Also, if you want to take some of the cupcake home, you can depend on it being good for at least a couple days (I like to make them last; the last bite is very bitter sweet ;)). As many times as I've binged on cupcakes here, I've gotta give a shout out to this place. Cupcrazed is literally the best cupcake shop I've ever found - and believe me, I've familiarized myself with many! ;). My husband and I always brag on it, and whenever we bring guests here, they always agree. I love the extensively creative varieties offered, the large size of the cupcakes, the generous frosting and fillings...it all adds up to make these a step above. Even the few that I've tasted that weren't on par (drier texture or not as much filling as preferred) were still better than cupcakes I've tried at other well renowned shops. I appreciate that the cupcakes not only look beautiful, but - most importantly - their taste is absolutely delicious as well. This is a super cute little bakery with some wonderful cupcakes! I have been there about 10-15 times. I love the decor, and they have an amazingly friendly staff! 99% of the cupcakes I have had are awesome, with just 1 or 2 not being my favorites, but they would be good if people had different tastes than me. For example, I had a Twix cupcake the other day, and it was just WAY too chocolatey for me, however, I do not like a super chocolate cake. I have never had one that didn't taste good, just ones that weren't my taste. However, their chocolate with buttercream won me over even with chocolate cake not being my favorite cake flavor! The red velvet is awesome (not bright red like the food color packed ones at other places) and the Coconut Macaroon is my absolute favorite. Their variety is unmatched, and they are always willing to try new things (you can see when they have suggestions on their Facebook, and within a few weeks, that cupcake shows up in the store). I love cupcakes, it is the best sweet thing to eat without feeling too guilty. Many places overprice their cupcakes at $3.00 or more, Cupcrazed Cakery is no exception. I went there on a Tuesday so I paid $2.00. I had a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, the cake portion was a little dry so the taste was not the greatest. However, the frosting was great, it made the cupcake. The frosting wasn't too much or too sweet, it was just right. I've been a fan of cupcraze since they opened. Some cupcakes have been hit or miss. But more hits than missed which is good especially over the span of years. There may have been new staff that needed a little time to know that exact amount of love to put in each cupcake... but hey! They figured it out. They captured the essence of "day of the dead" the cupcakes were so dry and disgusting it would have killed you! I was there for Halloween, the candy corn cupcake was so dry and nasty even my 1 yr old and 9 year old threw the away and the red velvet taste like flour.... What's going on people! I've been a fan since Day 1 and they have never disappointed. The flavors are plentiful and deliciously creative, we are lucky to have such talent in our area! Not only is the product great, but customer service is just as wonderful. A few months ago, I bought a couple dozen and vastly underestimated the bag size that I brought to carry the boxes back to my car. To add to the fun, I also had a 30 pound toddler in my arms that decided it was nap time...but without hesitation, the girl helping me offered to hand carry the boxes to my car parked in the back lot. We would have gladly paid .20 cents for a cup but not $2.00 for a water! 6-6-2018 Updated Review: My husband came in on Tuesday January 23rd to surprise me with cupcakes for my Birthday. We had no clue it was $2 Tuesday & he drove an hour to get these cupcakes because they were my favorite. We ordered 6 total and one was a $4 cheesecake. My daughter normally demolishes her cupcake. Half way through I noticed she had left it because it was burnt about 3/4". So I checked the others and to my surprise the cheesecake was burnt as well. We contacted the store that contacted a manager that refused a refund so we emailed the owner. My husband explained that these were Birthday cupcakes. Normally he would overlook it but this was a special occasion. The owner emailed us back stating we could drive to get two FREE cupcakes but that Tuesday was $2 Tuesday. What does this have to do with ANYTHING? On a typical $4 day ( which we did pay $4 for the cheesecake ) would it have been different ? These cupcakes aren't cheap and any other place would have fixed this. If you burn a product and someone is driving an hour for your service, you need to refund them the money. If this isn't resolved I will be resorting to other sources. 1-23-18 (This was my review one year ago) These have to be the best cupcakes in the area. I do feel that they are a bit overpriced because they are located in Baxter Village, but they always seem to be my families favorite when we have a sweet tooth. I prefer Cupcrazed Cakery to SAS every time for innovative flavors. That said, I agree with the reviewer who stated that when they are "on", their cupcakes are AMAZING, but sometimes the are just okay. I have been to the shop 10+ times. My favorites to date have been the Smores and the Sweet Tea cupcake. However, I've only had those flavors once because the special flavors rotate significantly. I have also been to the shop on a Saturday at 2pm and all they had left was vanilla/vanilla and chocolate/chocolate. When I get a cupcake I want something special/different. I didn't buy any cupcakes that day. I've also noticed that many of the daily special flavors revolve around chocolate. This past weekend some of the special flavors were Oreo, Inside out Peanut Butter Cup, Salted Caramel and Malted milk ball - all chocolate cake based. I would like to see more non chocolate cake options. (And more filling in all cakes). Regarding the rewards card - I wish that the # of stamps you get varied with the # of cupcakes you bought. You get one stamp per visit - regardless of whether you buy 1 cupcake or 6 cupcakes. Note: This weekend all of the cupcakes were nice and moist. Sometimes they are not. The chocolate cakes do tend to be the more moist cupcakes - perhaps that is why there are so many of them? I highly recommend visiting their website to see what flavors are made that day. The service is hit and miss. This weekend the girl who served us did not know what was in their cupcakes. This should be a must. Also, the teens often do not seem excited to be working there. Just came in to get a birthday cake for my boss and a little treat for myself. I got triple nutila for myself, and was so disappointed. The cake is so dry and flakey doesn't have a good consistency of a cake. Oh...I hope the funfitte I chosen for my boss is good. Otherwise I might get fired. In the mid-to late 2000's there was an explosion of cupcake shops around Charlotte. I made a bet with my friend that in 5 years few of them, if any, would still be standing. It was such a niche market. I was mostly right. Charlotte has now moved on to donuts. However, even in my skepticism I kept hearing rave reviews about this place. It got more attention after being featured on several shows and the owner won a few baking contests. Still, it was in Fort Mill. Sooooo far from Charlotte (insert sarcasm here because it takes longer for me to get to some places in CLT than it does to get to Fort Mill). But, I did use it as my excuse. Until this year. A friend brought by an assortment of cupcakes that I've only seen in pictures. And good grief was it was it terrifying. I suddenly realized my years of cupcake cynicism had kept me from seven years of delicious deserts. I started to evaluate my life and try to figure out what else I had been missing out on. I would consider a three month journey to a Tibetan temple for some deep soul searching, but that would be 3 months I wouldn't have access to these delicious sugar bombs. So let me spare you some of the tough life decisions I've suddenly had to make. Come here at your earliest convenience. Bring friends. Get at least a dozen (because it will spare you some of the pain of making "Sophie's Choice" cupcake decisions), check in on the Yelp app to get $5 off your newly acquired wisdom, then grab a fork. These aren't your cheap "twist off the bottom so you can put it on top of the icing and make a cute lil cupcake sandwich" cupcakes. These are miniature delectably rich cakes. I was extremely disappointed. After following the cakery on Facebook and reading about all their flavors I had to try them out. I ordered carrot, vanilla with vanilla, vanilla with chocolate, chocolate with chocolate and strawberry. The carrot ones were the best but all were dry and too dense for me. I prefer a fluffier cake. In one of the carrot cupcakes there was a big piece of carrot that didn't get chopped up. Also wasn't a fan of the filling in the strawberry one. I may try them again if I'm in the area but won't be special ordering any more. Will definitely ask which ones are freshest before placing my order. read more

Get there early! The fella and I were having post-dinner drinks down the street, and I decided to walk to Cupcrazed for a sweet treat around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday. They had been cleaned out of everything except variations of chocolate/white cake and chocolate/vanilla icing. At least I wasn't overwhelmed by too many options! Inside was super cute and whimsically decorated with a few tables in case you wanted to eat there. I settled on a chocolate cake with vanilla icing and a cake pop and walked back to the fella to eat them. It had been a loooong time since I'd had a really good cupcake, so perhaps my memory failed me, but this was deeeelicious. The cupcake was SO moist (even though I hate that word), and the vanilla icing was sugary but not artificial. The cake pop was even denser and richer with a hard, chocolate shell. Heaven. WOW, I love this bakery, I'm a red velvet snob but I tried the red velvet at cupcrazed it was perfecttttt :) Their cupcakes are not only fun flavors but fit for any child or adult lol I've had the Reese's and Health cupcake their icing isnt sugary like most bakeries. The reason I give them 3 stars and not higher is due to the arrogance on their website "And if you don't like our prices, that's fine. Walmart is 2 miles up the road to the left." I mean really? We get it, you're not Walmart and those who would expect walmart prices have clearly never purchased from a bakery (always higher then chain stores for good reason) but to word it like that is well, tacky and poor business practice and shows their obvious anger to lost business over their prices. I travel frequently and always seek out small Cupcake shops in the cities I go to...I've sampled A LOT of cupcakes from major players like Crumbs to small start up shops in small cities. I love that cupcake shops have exploded...you can find them anywhere. What I have learned though, is that not just anyone should open a cupcake shop...only a select few have any buisness selling their cupcakes. And I am happy to say that Cupcrazed is in that elite group. The store itself is adorable...that perfect blend of kitch and attitude...you want to grab a cupcake, grab a coffee and stay awhile. Once you taste your cupcake, you'll want to stay a lot longer than a while...you will want to eat your way through the store! Cupcrazed offers a different variety of flavors each day, along with some everyday offerings such as reses peanut butter cup, 24 Karat carrot and Red Velvet. I love this aspect of variation in the menu...stopping by after work is exciting...I never know what new flavor awaits inside. Some of my favorites have been Oreo, Hot Fudge Sundae, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Baileys Irish Cream (omg!!!) and Snickers. The cake is moist, the flavors SUPERB...and don't get me started on the icing/garnishes. The cupcakes are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the pallate...I literally can't wait to eat them. I usually find myself asking..."how did they do that"....after I eat one. Wow. Just wow! These are not just your average cupcakes, or just another cupcake shop. These cupcakes are amazing!!! I made a special trip to try this place - first,let me say, the guy who waited on is was fantastic - very friendly, handled a fairly big line without issue and was great at recommendations - (except the red velvet, but more on that in a sec) We brought the cupcakes home right away and the Reese's was downright delicious......but the red velvet truly baffled me. I cut it in half so I could share with my son - what I've never seen before was the "liquid" sitting at the bottom of the red velvet cupcake - seriously, it was soaked for at least 1/4 of an inch .... I couldn't tell if it was oil, or something else but it creeped me out. I mean sopping wet cake - The flavor of the upper part of the cupcake was delicious, the frosting was awesome, but the soppy bottom was weird. I've never seen that and the non refrigerated cupcakes didn't have that problem. (Actually, the refrigerated carrot cake cupcake didn't either).... Anyway, this is shared simply to with others - you're better off sticking with the non-refrigerated selection. I wanted the truffles but there weren't any on a Saturday.
