My boyfriend spent 9 months in Columbia and he's been missing food "good" Colombian food. I found this gem on Google and figured we'd make the drive to give it a shot. This is a no frills restaurant with a robust clientele of regulars-- and I get why. I love seeing big families getting together eating the food they miss; it reminds me a bunch of my own childhood. Come here and get all the things they bake in house, including the delightful corn cakes and cheese bread. The national dish of Columbia is not to be missed, and you will be full for hours. Went there today and if you are Hispanic fine, but if you only speak English, it will be OBVIOUS that you are NOT welcome! First off, the waitress spoke no English - I tried to give my order and she rudely waved her hand and walked away! then a man came up and said there were NO menus - you order from your smartphone, I do not own a smartphone! You are in America and you speak no English and have no menus to hand someone???!! If they ONLY want Spanish speaking customers then there should be a sign saying that! Also - the waitress NEVER came over - not even once - to ask if I needed anything or was my meal ok. But she went over to the Hispanic people several times! This is inexcusable!! I will NOT be back! I've heard good things about Cuquita, but sadly my experience was subpar. I along with my family decided to dine here in celebration of my mom's birthday. We were seated quickly, but waited what seemed like an eternity for everything else. It took about 25 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order (after my dad stared down the waitress mind you). When we finally got our drinks we had to wait another 40-45 mins to get our food. Honestly, had I not been with my family I would've paid for my drink and left. I have to note, the food was delicious, but I sadly will not return due to the lack of attention and service. Came here for lunch with the family. It is a small homie restaurant. We asked for chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas. They were all amazing. We ordered the whole fried tilapia which comes with white rice, fried green plantain, and salad. It was delicious!!! We also had the "bandeja paisa" which is steak, white rice, red beans, sweet plantain, pork rinds, chorizo, and avocado. It was amazing!!! We also had the Coquita parrillada, it has grilled steak, chicken, pork, chorizo, pork rinds, and two sides,m. ALSO AMAZING! The prices are low and the food is amazing. The wait is a little long so order yourself some empanadas to wait for your main dish. Definitely worth the wait. Buen apetito! read more

The food here was pretty good but I am no judge of Colombian cuisine. This was my first experience with this particular flavor of ethnic food but from what I can tell it seemed to be authentic, judging by the other customers in the restaurant. I ordered the bandeja paisa, which was a platter of eggs, steak, rice and beans, fried plantains, fried pork, some kind of cornmeal cake, and avocado slices. For $10 it was really filling. The price is certainly good. I ordered some type of turnover from their baked goods display and it was also excellent. Some kind of fruit and cheese filling. Excellent Colombian food hidden in Lehigh Valley! The service could be a little better as it doesn't seem like many of the wait staff speaks English. I love this place and have been going here for years. You can get a great amount of food for the price. I always leave full! My favorite things to order are the Patacones con Todo and empanadas. Lots of great flavors on one plate! For a nice treat, try the arepa de choclo con queso..it is a sweet, soft corn cake topped with a slice of soft white cheese. The flavor combination is very good. Everything I have had here has been delicious and fresh. I have never had a bad experience here...lunch or dinner! The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Go here! Horrible service, I've been to this place many times in the past and the food has never disappointed, but this last time the 3 waitresses that were there kept standing in the front on their phones the whole time. We ordered la bandeja paisa and the steak was extremely dry and the chicharron was overly salty. Cuquita in Spanish apparently means "cute". Nestled in Fountain Hill on broadway in a little strip mall, is one of Bethlehem's culinary secrets. Cuquita serves Columbian food. It looks very unassuming and "cute" from the outside. Inside you will be surprised by the quaint, clean, nuevo-aztec ambience. There is plenty of seating space to eat in and the in house service is quite good. Ok, now for the most important part, the food! It is positively yummy! You can start of with the traditional Ajiaco (columbian chicken soup with potatoes, capers, sour cream and avocados), which is very tasty and will tickle your tastebuds for your main course. You can also have their empanadas, which are absolutely lip smacking. Their more traditional sides including Arepas(thick cornmeal pancake) and patacones (thin, fried plaintain pancakes) are very good accompaniments. Or give their Bunuelos (tradtionally a Chritsmas treat in Columbia, they are white cheese fritters)a try. For the main course, you can never go wrong with the Bandeja Paisa (Iconic Columbian dish consisting of rice, beans, fried pork, Columbian sausage, round steak, fried plaintains and a fried egg). You can also give their barbeque and creole items a go, they are pretty flavorful and distinctive. I have tried their paella once, delicious! Served on fried plaintains, generous servings of mussels and shrimp. They actually have a very extensive menu, so be adventurous, try out stuff. I think you will be pleasantly surprised just like I have always been. Oh, and did I mention that their desserts and drinks (tropical fruits like papaya etc) are delish!
