I came here with a co-worker late at night and this place was still busy! After having one dish I can see why. The family operated restaurant has some great authentic dishes and the flavors are spot on. The staff is super friendly and they speak Spanish. I had the Shredded beef rice bowl with beans and sweat plantains. They asked me if I wanted cheese on my dish, but because I'm Puerto Rican and you never put cheese on Rice and Beans I said no thanks. But I will say that as a Latino this place took me home in a bowl. The beans were just like my wife makes, accept it's a different bean. The shredded beef had some much of that hispanic flavor I love so much. The beef was super tender and the plantains were fried to perfection. Now I know this is an Arepa bar and I should have had an Arepa but I am not a fan of Arepa's. It's a texture thing for me, but I love the items that go inside of them. As for my co-worker, He had two Arepas and a sugarcane lemonade drink and a cheese stick. He loved every bite! So Arepas are a must buy here along with a rice bowl like I had. Side note: you got to try their sauces! Their hot sauce is called Picante and is made with Habanero peppers. Look out for that one it's super hot! The garlic Sauce and the cilantro sauce taste great but the colors will confuse you. I bet when you see the sauces you'll guess the wrong color with the flavor. Been wanting to stop at this place for quite some time and I finally made it in and was excited to finally make it in. Let me start by saying that it's a really nice place. The lady was very sweet. The service is slow. The food was ok. The base price for one arepa was $12 dollars and an additional charge for each ingredient you add to the arepa. We bought 3 arepas and bottle of water and a can of ginger ale and it was $50. That's insane. I don't mind spending the money on delicious food but this food wasn't anything special it was just ok. I do not have a problem spending the money on quality food but this was def a let down. Would I recommend this place? Sure only because people shouldn't be discouraged based on my opinion and should try it out. read more

Staff were friendly and helpful when I was ordering, since it's my first time there. We got the shredded beef and avocado chicken arepa. They write down your order on the eco-friendly container and when the arepas are ready, they're start making it. We came in at the right time, beat the crowd! My favorite food ever. The arepas are always flavorful and perfectly cooked, with the amazing cheese melting into the savory meat. The plantains are my favorite part, sweet and savory and adding perfect balance. I love the garlic and picante sauces, warning the picante is pretty hot! I ordered the Veggie Bowl today (5/16/22) and it was white rice, black beans and plantains. The flavor was fine, not super flavorful. I wish there had been other veggies (onion, tomato, peppers...anything); the bowl was very basic. Additionally, it took a very long time to get the food to our hotel, even though the food is in containers out front at the counter. Imagine Chipotle, but with less seasoning and a way longer wait. Granted, I lived in Mérida for 4 months and Venezuela is not known for their delicious, flavorful cuisine; if you want to taste authentic Venezuelan food this is not a horrible option. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the meat choices they offer, don't sleep on the avocado chicken! Empanada's are also a must get, a different kind of flakiness than I'm used to. The cachapas may be the best thing on the whole menu that not enough people talk about. Everything I've tried is delicious. And all their sauces are AMAZING. My wife loves it, too, but although we share many characteristics, my obsession of wanting to eat everything off a menu from a great restaurant quickly is not one of them. What I have eaten: The Chicken Avocado Arepa, which is served cold, but thank god, because hot guacamole?? The shredded chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and there's so dang much of it that pieces of it will inevitably fall out of the arepa and onto the jeans you JUST washed, but you honestly won't care and you will pick up that fallen chicken piece and eat it with a big smile on your face, you messy-jean-wearing fool. The Mechada Arepa, which is a wonderfully beefy and garlicky experience that you can even further elevate by adding a cheese of your choice. The texture of the shredded meat does this thing with the crisp-soft dough of the arepa that is magical and even slightly sensual, so fair warning there if you're eating this thing in public. I've also had bites of my wife's Chorizo Arepa, and maaaaybe her Molido Arepa (that one has ground beef, not shredded beef), but the other thing she also doesn't share with me is her ability to share her food with me. Got their cachapa w/ beef & mozzarella very nice flavor, balance of sweetness from corn pancake, saltiness from pulled beef, and mildness of the cheese.
