Started to use it late fall 2025 and still happened. We had another company come out for cleaning bricks and they said insulation was missing and the liner was not to code. Contacted Mitchell who came out and said the insulation must have fallen out and we need a smoke guard. He never could be contacted again. We brought in 2 other companies for inspection - both said the liner was not to code and the insulation not properly installed (just can't fall out). And more so, I paid for a 10 inch liner (14 is code) but actually when we pulled it out it was 8". Gave Mitchell Mullen opportunity to make this right by refunding my money and have not heard from him (I sent him 2 inspection reports). Contact attempted by both email and voice mall. Hoping small claims court will make this right.... BTW, i learned after the fact that he is not licensed. Should have checked that. However, the company as a whole seems to put their technicians in an unfair position, using outdated upselling tactics and presenting customers with excessive prices, unfair policies, and unlawful charges. I truly hope these technicians find employment with a better company. The service was supposed to include inspection and sweeping/cleaning. However, they claimed they couldn't perform the sweeping/cleaning due to a blockage and wanted to charge $295 per hour to "unblock" the chimney--without providing any estimate of how long it would take. Isn't clearing blockages part of the sweeping/cleaning service? Naturally, we declined. What's worse is the company then tried to charge us for services they didn't complete, citing transportation costs (a 20-minute drive from Pataskala to Gahanna). Let me be clear: I never agreed to pay for transportation, and I will not pay for services that were not performed. They could not provide any evidence of me agreeing to these additional charges. It seems they rely on customers not knowing their rights. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. Save your money and find a deal on Groupon instead!
