What a wonderful store of odd, vintage items. There's a good amount of creepy stuff to tickle my fancy. I will say its a bit pricey, but I think of it more as a museum than as a store. I love how they have filthy farm girl soap in large quantities. The owners seem nice, but they definitely are busy with phone calls, online orders, and talking shop with customers. If I was rich, I would probably spend a buckets of money on the stuff I've seen. My favorite section is the medical area with all the eye diagrams and body part prosthetic. read more

Curiosities is the perfect name for this wonderful antique shop brimming with art, clothing, posters, linen, toys, furniture and jewelery. I purchased a 1950s stuffed cheetah pillow here recently that looks adorable on a sofa in my office. I love it and my office cat loves it too! Through the years, this cute shop has been a source of nostalgia and awe and we try to stop in when we have time during Dallas visits. I have a passion for turquoise jewelry and black pottery so the Native American items always woo me. Perhaps I was Pocahontas in a past life. Enter as though you are in a museum because you are. Wow, this place was an extremely fun place to be in. Everything they have is either insanely cool, cool, or just insane. Most of the stuff they had I had never seen before, which is the best part. Their vintage selection is amazing, with some of the original daguerreotype cameras, vintage garden tools, postcards, war propaganda and wooden carvings. This is going to be my goto place for a lot of my home decor, because I LOVE cool, weird stuff! The reason is say "going to" is some of the stuff is a tad pricey. But it is all rare and unusual so that's not to say its not worth it. I especially loved their alligator heads, Asian figurines doing the horizontal mambo, their sparkly gem rocks, the chinese coat (too small for me darn! ), rotary phones, mosaic magic lamp light, indian blankets and pillow covers and tons more. Oh well hello there Star Wars Lunch box circa 1980, Oh well hello there plastic neon yard gnome from 1954, oh well hello there adorable little tea set from 1930. I walk into this place and get sensory overload. AHHH - too many things to look at and touch. I WANT IT ALL. It makes you want to go home on a creative frenzy and redecorate your apartment with all the new, kitschy gadgets you just bought. Maybe I am a hoarder and I didn't even know it. I am scaring myself here. What I love most about Curiosities are the little, subtle pockets in the store where you find the best stuff. Seriously, this store is overflowing with antiques. Similar to Disney World, you can't fit it all in one day. There is simply too much. As any Antique store goes, they can be kinda pricey. But awesome objects only increase in value and having a lamp from 1925 that costs $80 in your possession could land you on the Antique Road Show and a pocket full of mula. I am going back soon! My friend and I walked as obnoxiously as customers can get - giggling uncontrollably, wielding cameras, and looking like we weren't going to spend any money. But the employees welcomed us very kindly and let us take as many photos as we wanted. I've been dragged along to many antique stores by my mom. But this was a bit different, as the other reviews say. Don't come here expecting to buy whole dusty furniture sets. Rather the store lives up to its name and is filled with "curiosities". We could have spent hours turning over each and every object. When I left I ended up buying a pack of photographs and a Charlie Brown style mini piano. Any other photograph enthusiasts out there? Curiosities has an entire dresser of drawers filled with old family pictures, postcards, etc. The price goes from 50 cents to 15 bucks depending on size and quality. Boots and clothing were really cute too. I was tempted to buy a vintage Neiman Marcus hunting vest. Everyone definitely needs to visit this store. read more

What was curious about Curiosities, isn't any longer. With my recent visit I learned something new, there are antique shops in existence that are geared towards non AARP members! I do enjoy exploring antique malls in search of 'that one thing' that you didn't know existed nor that you really, really wanted. Unfortunately this journey is typically a disappointing one due to overwhelming amounts of grandma's linens or grandpa's John Wayne plate collection but that is not the case at Curiosities. 'That one thing' that you've been searching for seems to be around every corner here. While my wallet walked out with the same amount that it walked in with, I saw plenty that left my self control fighting against a greed beast. A lot of the prices are reasonable while some are a tad high... But then again I don't know how you would keep some of the unique finds here if you were to have cheaper prices. Next time I hit Dallas, I can already hear this local hero calling my name. read more

Jason Cohen the owner is a master junkster and has an amazing eye for the fun, funky and fashionable. You can find some great stuff at his shop but a bit expensive. When the shop first started you could find better deals than nowadays. There are great finds and if your willing to pay top dollar you'll enjoy the pickings. There are still chances to find cool picks at local garage sales or estate sales but this shop can provide quick access to retro antiques that you might not have time to source out yourself. I love this store! Every time I go here I buy something I never knew I needed. From a hand-tinted black and white photo, to a beautiful and unique mannequin, to a pinup print, they always have what I need. It's a true oddity shop, as there is plenty of taxidermy, bones, teeth, broken dolls, and macabre pieces. To top it off, they are really helpful and engaging when you are looking for something specific. You've gotta go here if you enjoy old, interesting things. read more

Absolutely LOVE browsing curiosities. It has become one of our favorite weekend activities. There are so many amazing antiques and collectibles at every turn! I love rummaging through the jewelry drawers and finding neat vintage pieces that can be transformed into beautiful modern jewelry. Some items are pricey, but they are reasonable and willing to negotiate. They even gave me a free pair of vintage earrings when my fiancé helped them reboot their computer/electricity when a storm blew the power! Great owners! read more

This place is tucked away in a little strip center across the street from a Whole Foods. If you weren't looking for it, you'd probably miss it. It's set up like a lot of antique malls. Different people have their little sections where they sell their items. There's a ton of found antiques and some local crafted items. I love how funky this place is. It's like walking into a museum that you can spend at least an hour wondering around and looking at things. There are a few people with sections that have a lot of old photographs that are fun to look through. The ladies I've seen at the front desk are also always pleasant. read more

Got family members in town who are interested in antique shopping (this was my case), but don't want to blow your brains out at a lame, standard antique mall all day? Curiosities is your place then...this aptly named, nice size store (approx 10,000 sq ft) has an awesome mix of all sorts of, well, random curiosities that should both satisfy any antique shoppers in your family, while holding your own interest for a while if you hate antique shopping as much as I do! Very cool variety of toys, furniture, and endless oddball items and trinkets, mainly from the 20th century. The place seemed to be organized by themes...for example, one little nook had a bunch of medical related stuff, while another corner had a bunch of old consumer packaged goods. Like I said, even though i hate antique shopping, it was fun to walk around this place for a bit and see the random collections. I don't know much about pricing, but all seem reasonable here too. Bonus: very friendly no-pressure staff. Also, this place is in a strip center with a coffee shop and a pizza joint, so you can burn time there while the antique fanatics in your family shop away. read more

This place is pretty packed, and it's rather small, which makes for a very interesting shopping experience. There's a mix of items in good condition, and items in less-than-desirable condition. I have to agree with Scott about some of the prices. Not all the dealers are overpriced though. I got a vintage tiki glass from Braniff for 12 bucks. Not too bad. And my bf got an awesome Mod blazer for 18 bucks. Also picked up some vintage swizzles and got to dig through a basket full of cool matchbooks. There are treasures here...you will just need to be patient and look carefully. Also, be careful when you walk around. the space here is lacking a bit, so if you possess a large handbag (or man-purse), make sure you don't knock something over. Otherwise, shop away! :) read more

Headed back to Curiosities a few more times since and have yet to be disappointed. It has become my one stop shop for racist children's books and toys as well as various Mammy paraphernalia. I also found a wonderful book from the 19th century to teach children about elocution and public speaking as wells as a whole plethora of horrifying cookbooks from the 50's and 60's. This place is pretty close to my house & I drive by it all of the time (coming and going from Whole Foods Lakewood), so I try to stop in every so often just to look around and see if anything has my name all over it (most times I do end up buying something). Parking is easy, and you can either go through the entire store quickly (scanning each booth) or you can take your time and really dig in. They have very unique and interesting items -definitely many one of a kind items (I especially love the vintage & antique pieces). Their prices are very fair compared to the other vintage & antique stores in the DFW area, too. It's also fun to go in, looking, and to get INSPIRED on how to arrange and decorate with things you may have at home + maybe something you buy from the store. Only issue are the not-so-nice employees -every time I go in there, the employees are generally rude & very short with me when I ask questions or make a purchase. (This is why they only got 4 stars, versus 5.) I would probably go in there more often if the people were nicer -I've worked in retail & sales forever, and in my opinion it's unacceptable. BUT, if you don't judge the place by their workers, it's a FUN & INTERESTING place to go shop, get inspired, and find unique items. read more

Much love to this twisted little piece of crazy in the heart of Lakewood. I found the last antique camera that was much needed to complete my decor. I also found of other useless pieces that will have me coming back for the next few weekends while I rearrange my home to make room. It's a tight fit and all over the place which technically adds to its charm. I don't want organized when I'm on a random treasure hunt. I was DRAGGED in here by my girlfriend. She said I'd like it. And to my surprise I did. I assumed this store would be less than manly, but I found a lot of things which interested me. Can't you just see the finely taxidermied cobra, all coiled up and ready to strike, sitting the end table by the sofa. I sure as hell can. I'm going to have to go back and buy stuff. They do have a lot of antiques, but some of them are cool. They had some great vintage men's hats. I do love a good hat. The hats ran about $22 and one was from Sanger Harris, where my mom used to work. Neato. read more

It's been a while since anyone reviewed this place, but it still seems to contain a lot of the same stuff in the previously posted photos. I'd say it's a great place to go if you need old medical equipment/supplies, or perhaps a face with an eye that looks disgusting and bloody (they had quite a few!). The other thing they have a good selection of is old tool chests, which are also reasonably priced ($30-50). Otherwise, I think I have to agree with the prior reviews that the prices are a bit high in general for what you're buying. That doesn't mean the store isn't great for some things - just that you might have to hunt more than you would at say Lula B's. read more

If stuff is your thing, this will feel like a lotto win. I'm a long time shopper, and now frequent their second location (not far away, hit both!) as well. I RARELY leave without some treasure. I love the surprise element here with a nice mix of oddities and traditional antiques. Great treasures with a neat atmosphere but left with nothing because of the extremely high prices. :( Maybe it's just Dallas or that up-scale area, but there is no reason to pay $40-$50 for ONE plate that is not even antique (100 years or older)! I can find these types of treasures for A LOT cheaper in thrift stores or on Etsy.com. I like the store and all of the random, unique items but could never afford them. Happy shopping! :) read more

I hear about this place being for the weird. Me being more dark and collecting bones, organs, and medical stuff I was told I needed to make the drive to curiosities! And even though it was an hour drive it was well worth it! I got a whole bunch of stuff and know I'll be back for more. The owners are mother and son and amazing but the one person who stood out the most of the manager who listened to everything I wanted and showed me more and more items to get. They even cut me a deal for what I was buying. They have layaway too so if you can't afford it its all good you have three payments the first the day then each week another payment but they are so amazing that I'm sure they would work with anyone. So if you want to see dark and "weird" oddities curiosities is the best place in the metroplex for it! I'm going to be an avid shopper for sure! read more

What an appropriate name for this place... I found it to be oddly fun, somewhat comical and totally unusual. I really enjoyed looking around, but it's the kinda place you're not sure you should buy anything. However, if you like odd things or antiques you can really spend some time in this place.
