You're welcomed by a lovely paper tree and library when you walk in. There's an infant room, a 1 year old class, and a room for the bigger kids too. And they have a beautiful playground filled with toys the kids can enjoy as soon as they're mobile enough! Heidy (the owner) is incredible. She's picked a staff of women who just love kids. They are all so kind and caring. And it's such a bonus that they're all Spanish speakers- my daughter learned so much Spanish from them! I was so nervous to bring my daughter anywhere when she was 3 months old- but now I can't imagine her being anywhere else. From the second I walked in the door, Heidy and her staff set my mind at ease. The communication and photo updates throughout the day kept me in the loop. I was a nervous first time daycare mom, and Heidy eased all those fears. All too soon, my daughter started reaching for the daycare workers when we got there. They listened and they were very prompt in action and because of that I was able to swiftly transition my LO to a safer environment, where the healing process could begin. They were patient during my untold amount of questions and follow up questions about, nap time, drop off, pick up, curriculum, food time, etc. And though we may not be as established, as are their other families, I see my LO's personality starting to come back out and that only happens when a child feels safe. The boisterous outgoing social butterfly that had reverted back to their chrysalis and then to caterpillar before starting this program, has started the cycle over. Being supported and included by the staff and teachers, I suspect the reemergence to be even more beautiful than before. All learned behaviors created by the previous experience can be worked as time go on, until then I know my child is safe, seems happy and enjoys the time spent there.

I truly wanted this school to be a place where my children could learn, grow, and feel accepted. However, I often felt that there was a lack of understanding, knowledge, and appropriate support when it came to my child's individual needs. Instead of feeling like we had a team working alongside us, I felt like I was constantly having to advocate for basic understanding and accommodations. Eventually, I felt that I had no choice but to discontinue my children's education at the school because I did not feel confident that their needs were being adequately understood or supported. What is especially frustrating is seeing resources and effort being put into things like a coffee cart and taking yoga classes while families of children with additional needs are struggling to receive the education, training, and support they deserve. There is absolutely nothing wrong with creating something nice for staff and families, but I believe the school should also prioritize investing in staff training, autism awareness, individualized support, and resources for children with special needs. Children on the spectrum should not be viewed simply as difficult or disruptive when they need additional support. They deserve educators who are knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and willing to understand their differences. I sincerely hope St. Vincent Ferrer takes feedback from families like mine seriously and makes meaningful changes. Our children deserve to be supported, understood, and given the same opportunity to succeed as every other child.

I prayed that we would find the right place for our Son, where he can be safe, nurtured, and learn social skills. After our first interview with Rose Thomas, we knew we had found that place! Our Son's social and mental development progressed so fast within the first couple of weeks! He has been there for over a year now and has grown so much! He absolutely loves his teachers, Mrs. Connie the most! Proper nourishment is very important to me and I've been pleased with the healthy food choices they provide to the children. They are very adaptable to specific food needs and or allergies as well. The center provides a monthly calendar of the menu and if for any reason you decide that your child would want something else that day, they allow you to bring a lunch for your child. I've been very pleased with the staff and the systems they have in place to ensure the growth and care of my Son. I have recommended Circle of Friends to a number of my colleagues and friends in the area and would continue to do so.

We finally made it to submitting our pay stubs and as soon as we did, Kay ghosted us and we did not hear back from them for at least a month. We randomly get a call from Kay saying that the class was full and they were not accepting any more children. Two months pass and we receive a call from Circle of Friends stating that Kay Fleming no longer works there and they would love to pick up where we left in getting our daughter enrolled. They mentioned that they had our previous application but said it would be best to resubmit a new one. So we did. After a few days Lili (the young lady helping) calls me to inform me that we do not qualify for the subsidy price and that we would have to pay the $325 weekly. Not a big issue for us, but as I was breaking down the price to my partner as we considered our options, Lili sends me a text saying "we apologize for the inconvenience but we are only prioritizing families that qualify for subsidy and your daughter is no longer in consideration." Let me be clear - we were not checking for Circle of Friends after the experience with Kay Fleming. I honestly believe there was some financial discrimination involved that I assumed was a reflection of Kay, but after having a similar experience with Lili, it is clear this is an organizational issue that has waisted our time. She was 4 years old when she started and was very, very shy and was nervous. But it did not take her long to warm up and get comfortable with her super sweet classmates and the wonderful staff. The following year she continued onto TK and flourished into this bright intelligent little girl. The teachers at Mustard Seed did such an amazing job teaching the all the students and preparing them for Kindergarten. My daughter is currently in 2nd grade and is reading at the 6th grade level and I can't imagine her advancing to this level of education if it weren't for Mustard Seed. Fast forward - I needed child care for my youngest son as I prepared to go back to work and so thankful they have a toddler program I was able to enroll my son in at 18 months old. They love and care for all the children like it were their own and this gives us parents a peace of mind. He is now 3 1/2 years old and graduated to the preschool room where he absolutely loves to learn and play with his classmates that he calls, his best friends.
