I had an extremely frustrating experience with this mechanic and would not recommend him to anyone…read more My car's water pump failed, so I hired him to replace it. After installation, the new pump immediately leaked all the coolant as it was being poured in. He returned the next day to fix it, but despite promising to arrive in the morning, he didn't show up until around 4 PM. The next day, I drove to work only for the pump to leak again, leaving me stranded with an overheated engine that had to be towed. When he returned, he insisted that the issue was deeper in the engine and refused to do a simple pressure test to confirm where the leak was coming from. Instead, he wanted to start tearing the engine apart. At that point, we decided to get a second opinion. Another mechanic quickly found the real problem--a damaged gasket on the water pump that had been installed incorrectly. When we asked for at least a partial refund, acknowledging that he had put in some effort but ultimately botched the job, things took a turn for the worse. His initially friendly attitude changed completely, and he started calling us to cuss us out and even made threatening remarks. He even called the second mechanic and tried to pick a fight with him. On top of that, his pricing was outrageous--charging $200 for a $50 water pump. I've also since learned that other customers have had similar bad experiences with him. Save yourself the headache and go to a reputable mechanic instead.

So far, so good. I will be back to update after I pick up my Jeep…read more From the get-go Kaitlane has been very helpful; recommended a tow truck to come get my Jeep when it over-heated and stopped running. The communication w Kaitlane has been exemplary. She explained what their inspection found, with clear explanations when I asked questions. I used to take my cars to a shop in Puhi- they were great. I now live in Kapaa and asked friends/neighbors who they recommend. A lot of people (many know cars) said: Professional Automotive in Kapaa. Give Kaitlane a raise!

I can't critique mechanical expertise, so I'll assume it's excellent, which gives the 3 stars…read more Recently, I brought in a 2004 Dodge Ram with a power steering fluid leak. Took 3 weeks, because the shop insisted on OEM parts (? for a 22 year old vehicle?) which they couldn't find (although less expensive aftermarket parts were readily available) and had problems with the non-exact part they eventually found. Did a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle, they said. An additional weirdness on that occasion was their insisting I received messages from them even when I offered my phone to show none were received. Only a short time (few weeks, far less than 100 miles on the truck), the first person who viewed the truck (now for sale) went under, and in about 1 minute said there was a power fluid steering leak from a bushing. So I took it back: it was not the same issue, so not covered under their warranty (prior leak was from the tubing). They charged $185 (hourly charge) for the inspection, PLUS a $20 "shop charge," for a total of $214.66 without providing any benefit. They recommended about $2,000 to repair the bushing leak, a problem they didn't notice previously and had no effect so far on steering, ignoring my inquiry as to whether complete replacement of the rack and pinion system was needed. Price for brake jobs (also recommended) was $1,400, and they offered tires for $1,361.88. Additional weirdness: Julie gave an appointment for Monday at 11:30. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle (declining the service) after a text from them I didn't read fully, as I was on my way "confirming" my appointment, they insisted my appointment was Tuesday at noon, and continued in that vein over my explanation, basically calling me a liar several times. Perhaps I'm old fashioned and this is the new meaning of "professional."
