Mikaela fixed my husband's disaster. He got the best haircut and beard trim of his life. I can't thank her enough as my sex life is about to finally improve, due to how great he looks and feels. I showed her a photo for ten seconds and she said, "got it." I didn't know then that she was a magician. Why they are not charging double or triple for this service is beyond me. He could have easily paid three times as much for a worse haircut in Portland, Oregon. We may have to start flying to SLC from our home in Alaska a couple times a year just to get good hair from this skilled artisan. 35$ for the best haircut of your life?! Are you flippin' kidding me?! We left a big tip because she earned it. I hope others are as kind to her. This place is also full of the most hipster-iest lotions and potions for all of men's needs. Come get your March Mullet on with Mikaela. She is the best.

Amazing Barber Shop, but also HUGE variety of the best hair and retro drink ware, mixes, wallets, and barber accessories.

Hands down the BEST of the BEST here. Very well-respected staff here and they really know their stuff. Amazing staff of fantastic barbers that don't just cut hair... they are precision with every clip and make fine use of the straight blade! Absolute works of art. They are artists and they are at the top of their craft. This shop has turned into something much larger than a standard Barber Shop, too. They offer very obscure items here, including hand-crafted wallets, knives, Bartender items, AMAZING Bloody Mary mixes with unique flavors, cocktail mixers (all of which I have not been able to find anywhere!), top notch shaving gear, toothpastes... the list goes on. I have been coming here for years and have also brought my son here for his cuts. The management makes you feel like family. Chad and Jess are just about the sweetest people you will encounter. They have new items coming in often and always cater the products to the season. This shop is run PERFECTLY... other companies should take note!

Some of my out-of-town family members now have it on their list to visit H&A whenever they're in town, we all love it so much. I was so sad that Cece and Moses (the owners) had to move out of their old location on 700 East - it was such a beautiful space that they worked so hard on. Their new location is definitely worth a visit too though. You'll find the same attention to beautiful design and amazing curation here. Cece's taste is second to none! Their family and employees are so friendly too and I'm amazed at how well Cece knows the store if you're looking for something specific. The prices are fair and not stupid overpriced like some secondhand areas have become. Such good clothes, furniture, accessories, gifts. There is parking in front of the store and it's easy to find.

You can consign items here yourself, but they do take a large cut of the sale price. Their hours are limited, so check before you head over. This cute shop has big plans for the future. It's a great antiques store that's been open about a year and a half, run by an owner who is interested and passionate about the industry of antiques and collectibles. The store is packed full of rusty collectibles like farm equipment, old signs, some housewares and a small rack of vintage clothing, but mostly patina and rust, as the store name suggests, but all mostly clean and very nicely organized which made it easy to browse and look through (i.e. you're not scared of something toppling over when you're trying to look at something behind it). I loved the collection of vintage saddle blankets, antique French wire laundry baskets, vintage and homemade light fixtures, and old ladders. The store feels more masculine than some antique stores, and doesn't have a ton of housewares, which makes it fresh and interesting. There are large items out in the parking lot too. Owner Matt Binyon was in the store when I visited - he's friendly and interested in helping you find what you're looking for. He said some of the items in the store are booth rentals from other collectors and recommended some places I could look for bigger furniture pieces. He also owns American Rust & Patina in Layton, which has more furniture and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and I need to check out. This is a great asset to Sugarhouse! So glad it's here.

I also heard that they do offer food composting for 60 cents a gallon out back which was a godsend since my new 'hood doesn't do composting (and it's too early in the season to use for planting). The shop is super cute, clean and organized. Parking is very easy out front (no payment required). The vibrant woman working there was ultra helpful and friendly (she even remembered to text me when one of the products I asked about came in). She showed us around and let us know how things worked. I ended buying a lot more than I planned (including their kombucha! cinnamon apple -- yum!), and I am happy with all of their products so far. The rose deodorant is amazing. I have yet to try the epsom salts, but am excited to. The shop overall is a little bit expensive, but I'd much rather pay more to live responsibly. Composting price is a steal though -- definitely my go-to now.

Animalia is an adorable and charming store offering most everything required to be the hip, cool,…read moremore earth friendly version of myself that I wish I was. As I entered the shop on a Friday afternoon, two girls bearing the same wavy blond bob, glasses, and even exhibiting similar mannerisms greeted me! I asked if they were twins, and we all had a good giggle as they explained no, they just sort of merged into the same person after spending so much time working together. Isn't it funny how that sometimes happens? They were both friendly and helpful, explaining how to dispense the bulk products, and happily answering questions. A small thing that is such a helpful idea, is that they accept donated reusable containers, so if you forget your own, or, like me, happen upon the shop without having previously planned on stopping by, you are free to use any of these bottles! The bulk goods consist of body, beauty, and home products. Featured brands are recognizably good ones: EO, Biokleen, Mountain Rose Herbs, and Meow Meow Tweet (you can even grab a bit of their well-reviewed natural deodorant!). In addition to the bulk offerings, they sell regular size natural makeup and beauty products, lots again from Meow Meow Tweet, Fat and the Moon, and others. They even have reusable period pads and cups. SLC, you're getting so progressive! In addition, there were creative planters and ceramic containers, gorgeously fragranced candles, a variety of incense, clever greeting cards, notebooks and other stationary, pretty reusable totes and bags, and jewelry. Most (maybe all?) are hand crafted, some locally. There was even a small rack of vintage clothing! Prices are reasonable; though do not expect overly cheap bulk prices. As the products on offer are high quality, you will pay accordingly, and it's worth it!

Well, long story short I was overwhelmed. My co-worker told me about her friend's cute little shop that has the most unique gifts. I eventually settled on a few natural smudging insense bundles and an adorable ceramic mushroom to live in the planter of my dear person's favorite fern. Olivia was so helpful. She gave me time to explore each and every little table and shelf, answered all my questions, and told the tale behind every trinket.
