I haven't shopped at this cool store forever! I really cant believe they've stayed in business so long but im so glad they have. This place is so soothing selling stones, jewelry, incense and so much more dealing with the mystic and Asian and Indian influences. Its a fun shop just to look even if you dont purchase but I needed incense and sage and I was provided with quite the variety. All were labeled well and had prices which I like. Parking was easy. I didn't notice if the café inside was open for business but it seems to change hands but last time I ate it was delicious. This was over ten years ago tho lol. This is a magical place that creates a relaxing vibe from the moment you step inside the doors. New age music plays throughout the store, while their layout creates a Feng shui flow. There is even a fish pond in the middle of the store! They offer a plethora of items--from journals to home decor, jewelry to self-care items. The service is friendly and efficient. Dancing Crane is a great place to get new items that you may not find anywhere else here in utah. The Crane is a bit expensive expensive for their Sarongs from Bali since you can get them for less then 3.00 what a mark up ! but still the best place to shop read more

I love this store! It has such a peaceful and calming atmosphere. They carry a wonderful variety of crystals, incense, and other unique items. A gem in the heart of SLC! My daughter and I were in from Reno for a wedding and stopped by Pantry Products to stock up on skin care; the person in the shop recommended we visit Dancing Cranes and it was everything we had been seeking! A huge warehouse of decorative items, jewelry, precious stones, crystals, sage, clothing, incense. books, candles, and a glorious coy pond in the middle! Great staff and excellent inventory! I love this metaphysical store and have been coming here for quite some time now. I think I happened to run into it before it actually moved to this current location, unintentionally, when we first moved to Utah in 2012. I love this vast store of everything metaphysical. I love that they even have local artwork available for sale. The one stop shop allows me to find whatever I may be searching for. I have found pendulums, card decks, crystals, windchimes, apparel, and more when I have come in. I love that they offer classes and readings for different modalities. I also love that they have a cafe available. The Koi pond adds a unique touch to the place too. I love going to explore! read more

This HUGE spiritual emporium has delights around every corner. Upon walking in I noticed an oil perfume counter, several long jewelry counters, a henna station, a tarot or palm reading area, wind chimes, Tibetan singing bowls, a huge clothing section, incense, sage, palo santo, crystals, journals, tapestries, beads, spiritual candles, calendars, local artwork - everything is here! I was also pleasantly surprised to run into a koi pond right in the middle of the store surrounded by large plants, this is such a serene environment just to walk around in - and of course it smells good. Of my five senses, my favorite is my sense of smell. Scents really set the mood and the ambience for me-and trigger memories that other senses do not. The minute I walk into Dancing Cranes, I feel relaxed and peaceful-and I attribute that to the smell of incense, essential oils and candles that fill the space. This store may not be for everyone-they have a specific customer that they cater to: someone that appreciates "spiritual" accoutrements such as prayer candles, sage, Buddha statues, crystals, etc. So if that's not your thing, you may not be thrilled with this place. But for those that do like those things, you'll find it all here. And then some. Some of the items are made locally, but most appear to be imported from other countries. It's a mixed bag when it comes to quality-some things appear to be high end, while others-not so much. The staff here are pretty laid back and keep to themselves until you're ready to check out. Being that this place has so many interesting things that not everyone is familiar with, I think it would be really cool to have folks out on the floor demonstrating how things work and interacting with shoppers a bit more. I know that if I saw something in action by someone who uses an item regularly, I would be much more likely to purchase it than I would if I saw it sitting dormant on a shelf. I have gone to this place for a very long time. Years. Each time I go in the workers are very clingy. I walked in and a woman with blonde hair and bangs who just got hired, started following me everywhere that I went. Then there was a curly haired guy by the rocks who wouldn't stop staring at me. Every time I go in the workers, I swear are being told to follow customers. It is so bad that it makes everyone feels so uncomfortable Every single time. I had my sister from germany come in and she left feeling so uncomfortable every single time she had gone in because the workers are hell bent on following customers to ENSURE no theft. Just use the cameras please. Not everyone is a thief. I really didn't want to write this, but i've brought it up to many employees and they don't care. Having gone into dancing crane imports REGULARLY, I feel there is so much hatred there. They are so uptight. every single employee I swear is taught to follow, be uptight, and show no care. I swear to God, they tell their employees to "glare" At customers, because every single time I have gone in, I get glared at. There should be a competition of who glares the most there. I'm not even trying to be rude in this post. But I have gone in there well over 20 times and each time is a bad experience. But I love to go there because they have good crystals and good home decor. I just wanted to warn people who want to come here, That it's definitely not a welcome environment. And the people who are posting good reviews, obviously either have friends there or they are connected in some way to someone there. I would avoid going in this place. A friend could not stop singing the praises of Dancing Cranes Imports once she learned I had never been there. "But it's everything you love!" she exclaimed, and from her description that sounded very true. You know when you learn a new word, and all of a sudden, you hear it everywhere? That is what happened with Dancing Cranes, and I just happened to drive by it shortly after the above conversation, so took that as a sign that I must be meant to go. It is housed in a large building off 7th East, with a bit of street parking available, along with a parking lot south of the shop. I don't recall ever noticing it previously, and the storefront faces south, rather than the main road, so keep that in mind as you might otherwise miss it. Café Solstice is just to your right upon entering. Peep their own Yelp listing for more detailed information, but I know they have a variety of drinks, baked goods, and dishes, including many alternative diet friendly offerings: vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The store itself is quite open, light, and high ceilinged. Products are arranged by type in sections reminiscent of craft sale booths. It lent a cheap feel, and updating their methods of display would be a worthwhile improvement. The space certainly is large, though, and they have everything my (or your!) hippie heart could desire: gems, crystals, rocks, jewelry, beads, wands, incense of every sort, essential oils, like 20 types of smudge sticks, books, candles, pottery, artwork, clothing, accessories, home and outdoor décor, and, well, pretty much whatever else you can imagine. A lovely koi pond filled with GIANT vibrant fish decorates the center, and I can see that making a destination out of Dancing Cranes. They were busy, but a very friendly employee inquired if I needed assistance. Overall a good experience, but.... I found myself rather indifferent to the aforementioned charms, as the prices were simply much too high in comparison to other (sweeter/cuter/better designed) stores in the area. If the space was particularly gorgeous and a pleasure to shop it might be worth the higher costs, but as it stands, I'd be just as happy (not to mention find it much more convenient) purchasing the same products online. read more

This is by far my most favorite shop in all of Utah. Came here to visit and spent close 2 hours here and could have spent longer. The prices are great. The people working there are super friendly and helpful and just overall vibe/essence was just beautiful , it truly loved it. I have been supporting this store for 20+ years and the even though they've always had pretty bad customer service the last few times I've gone have really put a bad taste in my mouth. The employees especially in the clothes section stare you down like a hawk and follow you around. If you carry around anything that you're planning on purchasing they snatch it up and put behind the front desk. And this feeling is the same throughout the store. No one is friendly and they all give a really bad suspicious vibe. I realize theft is an issue in retail but I'm a middle aged women that had never stolen anything in my life. I've bought many things at Dancing Cranes over the years and I really think the managers and employees need to tone it down a bit. If you scare away all you loyal paying customers you won't have a store. I guess then you won't have to worry about shoplifters. read more

As soon as you walk into Dancing Cranes, you can smell a gentle whisper of the incense and natural oils they carry in the store. There is such a wide variety of things offered, and I love it! There are iron tea pots, lovely scented candles, imported fabrics, rugs and pillows, bamboo and cute pots to go with them, tarot cards, books, figurines and statues, semiprecious stones, crystals, gorgeous jewelry in all price ranges, hanging paper lanterns, hammocks, peace flags, handmade wooden boxes, handmade soaps and lotions, cool clothing, tie dye, purses and bags, several brands of incenses and super cool holders, chimes and bowls, locally-made stickers, etc. It's an awesome store that needs to be seen in person. I love to go there and see what's new. There's always something to look at and enjoy. Currently searching for a higher level of a spiritual transformation and my friend suggested this place. I'm looking for items to support energy and emotional balance. You walk in here and it's like you've left the outside world behind and entered into a serene space. The smells of zen are unexplainable and sOOoo many stones, plants, candle and OhEmGee! I was so excited walking into the next section, and then the next. I could spend all day in here but not in the budget. What I did get are many different energy bracelets and a selenite stone for emotional well-being. Here's what you need to know. First, grab a basket - you're gonna need it. Second, if you get any item from the counters you will leave with the person behind the counter and form a line at the checkout stands when you're done. Tranquil and peaceful atmo, and brilliant collection of Eastern items for sale. Incense and soft music. To food at Cafe Solstice was excellent! Tried the "Everything But The Girl" bowl and was immediately wowed! One of the most unique flavours I've had the pleasure of lunching upon. Hummus is always a good idea! I love this place, sugarhouse has a lot of gems & this is one of the best for sure! my sister in law lives in the neighborhood, which is why I started shopping here in the first place. my husband had her pick out some unique paintings for him for my birthday two years ago- they were so dope & I knew I had to come here myself & check out all the goodness. it's a very big warehouse like space that even includes their own in-house cafe that serves up both food & drink (such as smoothies & espresso) which I've actually never eaten at- but it does look quite tasty. their merchandise is what some people might say is for hippies or hipsters, but there's honestly something for everyone here. on my most recent haul today we bought green tea, lavender, & jasmine incense, both in small & large sizes (they also sell a wide variety of holders). I also bought a cool (yet overpriced) crystal, & some lavender massage oil. In the past, I've bought some cool artwork, a salt lamp, other rocks/crystals, candles, etc. It's my favorite place to buy incense because I like the morning star brand & the locally made types as well. it's also a cool place to get a friend or loved one a unique gift. the staff is always friendly & helpful, the place is just a good vibe all around & I always love coming here! the only reason I can't give a full five stars is due to some of the prices for the rocks/crystals, they're a bit high. for example- last august I asked my husband to get me blue calcite for my birthday. he said he tried buying it here but they were charging $75- he went online & found a larger, better looking rock for $30 plus shipping. I think their smaller stones are typically worth it, but look elsewhere for larger items, there's a better deal online somewhere! read more

I was there with my 6 year old son. After 15 or 20 min of being in the store passing this lady employee approached me and tried to hand me a mask. I told her "No, I'm sorry I have a medical condition that doesn't allow me to wear a mask." She told me, "I will tell my manager." Next thing I know, two ladies are approaching my son and I asking me to wear a mask and I told her the same thing. I tried to tell the lady that I have a medical condition and then she just told me "leave. " I told them you are discriminating me either because of my skin color or because of my disability and I walked away. I didn't want to make a scene. After that my son has been concerned about why we got kicked out of that store. He has been talking about it since then read more

I went in the store with my family for Mother's Day and I was really upset with the way one worker continuously looked at my husband while rolling her eyes and showing a great display of judgment. He also had several people follow him throughout the store while he held onto the items his mom and I wanted. The first mentioned worker happened to be at the front registers when he came up to pay. She had a negative tone with him and proceeded to tell him that someone else had to help him. She, for some reason, decided she did not like my husband and made for an incredibly awkward and displeasing time. It saddens us that such a spiritual store would make someone feel SO out of place and truly uncomfortable. read more
