Had a great stay in the Ponderosa #21. All the rooms were clean and the beds comfy especially after a day of ice fishing. Would have appreciated more toilet paper and some paper towels but the grocery store is close by. Note: #21 is on the second floor so take the stairs into account. read more

I stayed here one night with my Mr and our pooch for a wedding not far away. Rooms here we're more affordable than the nearby hotels! The lake is beautiful and the area is very quiet. Our room was comfortable. The only problem we had was the TV didn't work he best but that's not what we came for! Breakfast was nice, a selection of bagels and muffins and fruit. I loved our two nights here! Stayed in the Buckhorn room (#7). The view was amazing and it was nice to step out on the balcony to watch the sunsets. The balcony is shared with the other rooms on the second floor but everyone kept their distance. People who pass by your window/door can see right in, so keep that in mind. Our two little dogs were welcomed with treats, a blanket and a water bowl - such a nice touch. The coffee, pastries and fruit available in the morning were a nice touch. We used a paddle boat and took our dogs out on the water. There were many kayaks as well that were complimentary. Unfortunately, the pontoons were all rented - next time. We brought our paddle boards along and launched from one of their many docks. We paddled down to Hoots on the Water for a wonderful afternoon. The paddle was 5 miles total and the trip back was brutal, fighting wind and waves. Definitely for advanced paddlers but very fun. The fire pit and many gas grills for cooking at the lodge were hospitable touches. Plenty of books, puzzles and card games available for relaxing. All staff were so nice. We recently stayed here with family for my mother's wedding. Coming out from California back to the Midwest in the summer there was plenty of bug spray needed battling the mosquitoes here. Beyond that....this place was cute and cozy and had accommodations to make you feel at home or home away from home even. To start....all the staff at the front desk were very very helpful with any need we had. Check in was so easy. The smaller rooms have a couple beds and a fridge (and I think a microwave....can't remember). The larger rooms had a small kitchen set and larger refrigerator with a mini oven for cooking. On a nice summer day they offer paddle boats, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes for the price of your stay. They are just required to be checked out for security. Only thing is that some people do t treat the equipment well and the paddle boards all have broken fins on them. Paddle boats were used by us a few times and they were a blast going out on the lake. The wedding on July 1st ended up being a clear day for the time being even though the rain was off and on all weekend. I think that sums up our stay.....the staff was even nice enough to call when we left a pillow behind before we headed out of town. Top notch service always keeps people coming back. They do a great job here running this small gem on the lake! read more

This place could be really great. Agree with Andrew W. The whole "pet friendly" idea is great in theory but not being able to take your dog anywhere all the while seeing the owners dog prance around the place with no regard or supervision is a little un- nerving. The rooms are well equipped for a long stay but it is crazy that there is no place to do laundry. The area around the place was nice. Great path to a park to play, another to run on and the lake is pretty...maybe not swimmable, but pretty. read more

Undergoing renovations that are much needed. Very motel 8 quality. Awesome that most rooms have stoves, medium size fridges, microwaves and what not. No laundry on site for customers to use makes long stays require a trip to the laundromat. Suite on the end is practically a house with a loft and full kitchen. "Pet friendly" means pets can stay in your room, but aren't allowed in the lake or even on the lake side of the motel. Why bring them if they can only be in the room or parking lot essentially? Pet friendly also means your dog must be on leash at all times, however the owner's dog can be off leash and shits wherever it wants including the field out front where the kids play frisbee and roll around. Gross. Probably won't be returning to Rice Lake again but I hope the new owners make it a much nicer spot. read more

We were looking for a place in rice lake to stay and in our search we found Curriers, when we arrived the hostess was very friendly and kind. The accommodations were great the beds and sheets were clean as well the room and bathroom. Seating outside by the lake right outside our back door and taking the complimentary paddle boats, kayak and rowboats were a nice surprise. I would definitely recommend staying here and will definitely say again!!!! Free use of the grills and the small kitchen saved us from eating out everyday. read more

This was my first stay. The room was clean and recently updated. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. Check in and out was easy. While I didn't eat the continental breakfast the selection of rolls and muffins looked good. I would definitely stay here again. The price was reasonable. read more

We travel to Rice Lake every two years. We have stayed at Curriers four times now. Every stay has been a real pleasure. The owners have made a real effort to make this a stellar place to stay. The owner is most friendly and helpful about the city of Rice Lake. The rooms are very clean; and each is unique. The WiFi is as fast as ours at home, by that, I mean fast. When we arrived, we sat around the new fire pit and watched a young bald eagle fly over our heads. In the morning (while sipping coffee and tea outside of our room) we were entertained by white breasted nuthatches and downy woodpeckers. There is a play area for kids. Gina, the friendly black dog was still there to great us. My only regret is that we never stay long enough to take a kayak or canoe out on the lake. There is a coffee bar next to the office that serves cinnamon rolls, coffee, tea, fresh fruit and yogurt each morning. The view of the lake is worthy of mention. This is not your typical motel; but a place of natural beauty. I look forward to our next trip to Rice Lake. It's always a pleasure to stay at Curriers. Eating at Casa Mexicana is just frosting on the cake when one travels to Rice Lake read more

I stayed here towards the end of summer 2014. I really liked it! The owner was kind and was really excited about some of the changes that he's been working on. He was clearing out some old timber around the front of the lodge. Pet-friendly was great. The bed could have been better. The view was stunning. The grills were great! I cooked a great meal for me and my dad. I will stay here again. And plus, nice hot shower, nice kitchen. Nice deck. You'll like it. I travel a lot both for business and leisure, and I have to say this was my best ever. We stayed here for a family occasion, and there's always concerns on places to accommodate my big family, and this lodge did not have a problem at all. The rooms are huge and accommodating. There's full kitchens that enable you to make your stay feel like you're away from home, but still able to cook like you do at home, saving money and not having to waste time away from the fun activities the lodge offered. There were unlimited things to do in the water, all gear, boats, water boards, kayaks, anything you can think of to have fun in the water, they had. There's a playground for children and enough place around it for adults to play games. The patio overlooking the lakes were enough for many people to eat enjoy and stay out all night, the campfire place with swings was amazing, never fall short of towels, just everything you can imagine wanting or needing whey out on a trip, they had it. The service and everyone there, whether working or owners, were amazing! They were accommodating and always willing to help. The location was near small mall, restaurants, grocery places etc. You will have to go see to believe. The pictures are just what you will find, and more! What a gem! Stayed here for a night back in June on our way to Hayward and wish we stayed longer. The owners put their hearts and soul into the place. The personal touch really makes a difference. My family and I stayed there for a week. It was awesome. The kids had a great time and they were never bored. They went in the kayaks and paddleboats. They lived in the lake the entire week and had a great time. The hotel is EXTREMELY clean and the renovations that are going on will only make the place better. We took advantage of the grills as well. There is free WiFi. We did some fishing off the docks. This is the ONLY hotel on the lake in Rice Lake. We had stayed here previously this summer, fell in love with the location, and booked the "chalet" for a 2 night sisters (4 traveled in and 5th came from a mile away to spend the day with us). Check in was easy and staff friendly. We were initially delighted with the accommodation, but soon discovered the second level had no bathroom (never thought to ask). Being in our late 70's, we found the terribly narrow spiral staircase, a bit of a challenge, also. We were handling these inconveniences, but when the kitchen sink developed a leak, and we were given the company of a plumber in and out, over the course of several hours, we felt a bit "put upon". We made staff aware of our frustration, but didn't receive so much as an apology for the inconvenience! This wasn't a cheap couple of days for us, we looked forward to getting the 5 of us together for weeks, and it didn't go quite as planned. Wish I was happier, as the location is awesome. Might go back, as its so close to our sisters place, but doubt we would ever use the "chalet" again. read more
