Classic food court butter chicken I eat whenever I get the Indian curry cravings. Really dislike their new boxes which I find very annoying as you try to mix the curry and the rice. I preferred their previous way of just having the curry on top of the rice. Also with a fork, it's hard to scoop the curry so you have to ask for a spoon if you can remember. read more

This is the golden standard for mall food. I have been here many times, and will most likely continue to come here many more in the future. What we have here is a broad variety of tasty curry and indian dishes at a fantastic price - and lo; it was beheld unto me that vegetarian options were plentiful! The combo special is certainly where it's at. 2 curries of your choice, rice, naan and a soft drink for about 8$. And when I say curries of your choice they really give you some options. Off the top of my head I can recall: butter chicken, beef curry, chicken curry, spicy vegetable, yogurt pakura curry, daal (lentil curry), peas 'n' cheese, alu ghobi, and I'm sure I'm missing a couple of others. Certainly not bad for a mall fast food stop. And that doesn't even take in to account the other dishes they have on the menu. Of course being the nature of fast food restaurants, it isn't exactly the freshest food you'll ever eat but I've never been sick when I've eaten there and I've never been left hungry afterwards. This is more than I can say for just about any other place in the metrotown food court where either one or the other occurs. This place really comes through on exactly what it's supposed to be: a great bang-for-your-buck place to fill up while taking a break from shopping or running errands at metrotown. I was ripped off. I bought a samosa from there and paid 4 bucks after taxes for it.. If the owner is reading this I bought it right before closing on Jan 7 2019. The price on board was about 2 bucks plus taxes. There wasn't even any meat in it. For the 2 dollar price, it was not bad/not great. For four bucks, it was awful. I didn't get a receipt and you could hear the cashier. I guess I didn't question it at first because she help me so fast and she scooted directly to the next customer. When I used to work in the Metro towers, I went to Curry Express a few times a week. I never got sick of it because there is a wide variety of curries from the milder yoghurt based curry to the kickin' heat of the spicy chicken. I was able to buy my lunch so often because the combo special is a great deal at about $8 and so filling with your choice of two curries, rice, naan and a drink. Also, for food court food, it's much better than you'd expect, and healthier than most of the places in the Metrotown food court. A good portion of the curries are vegetarian friendly too. The vegetarian samosas are also quite good and quite large. I, as a big samosa fan, nowadays get the latest combo of two samosas and chick peas curry, and I'm definitely full by the end because the samosas are the size of fists! read more

My vegetarian husband, Brian B., loves this place and always eats here EVERY time we are in the mall. Sometimes he goes out of his way to eat here. In terms of mall food my expectations are pretty low, but while in Metrotown I was wandering around, and saw Curry Express and their signage about samosas... thanks Curry Express for implanting a wicked samosa craving... so I decided to give it a try. I love indian food and I come here for a quick food fix because I like that the Metrotown food court is very diverse. My only qualm is that yeah, I wish there was a combo for 2 curries and rice without a drink because I already had one in my hands (I ended up getting a bottle of water for later). My other problem was that there was BARELY any chicken in my butter chicken. I do love the chana masala... it is the main reason why I come here... though it had a bit more heat last time. read more

The food choices at Metrotown's food court are dismal. Curry Express is the best of all the choices. The owner who served me was friendly and charming. All the other dishes on display never seem to vary and are your typical mass-produced fast food fare. However, that little corner of the Curry Express occasionally houses a yummy surprise. I've discovered that this dish varies about once or twice a week and is made by a member of the owners' family. Made especially for THIS Curry Express location. It might be cabbage and peas, potato curry, aloo gobi or zuccini. When I am near Metrotown, I'll wander over to take a look ...and can't resist. Worse service ever the staff was rude and obnoxious when I asked if she could give us an extra plate because I had ordered the 9.99 combo with two curry, rice, naan and a soft beverage. Since my girlfriend and I weren't very hungry we decided to just order something small, so since my girlfriend was vegetarian we wanted the two curries separated. Vegetarian friendly, yes, but customer friendly? Absolutely not! I am a regular customer to this Curry Express outlet in the Metrotown foodcourt. However, I write today to express my complete dissatisfaction and disgust at their appalling customer service skills. My advice to the assistant 'manager' would be to not work in a people-facing role if you do not know how to deal with people. My wife was the victim and was treated terribly. She was served by the assistant manager, who appeared to not hear my wife clearly as she was about to serve her the incorrect dish. My wife then spoke slower, louder and clearer and the assistant manager responded curtly with, "I can hear you!" My wife then asked if naan bread was included with her order and the assistant manager then replied with, "You have to be patient." My wife, who was visibly upset, came back and told me what had happened and I immediately went over to the Curry Express booth to speak with the member of staff and explained that her behaviour has caused them to lose my custom. I have been eating at Curry Express for well over 4 years. Being a vegetarian who works in Metrotown, there are not a lot of options for food near me. I am lucky that there is such a decent place in Metrotown! I can't speak for the meat dishes, but the vegetarian dishes don't disappoint.
