Food was alright. Spice level, depth of flavour were both spot on. Ambience was probably the best part. Yeh decor was classy. Service was lacking. The waitresses seemed self absorbed. Giving one word answers if any at all. I left a generous tip of just over 20% yet I still got a side-eye glance from the waitress. Will most likely not go back. There are other delicious authentic Indian food much closer to home.

Indian coffee, paratha thali, non vege lunch special - IG @bougiefoodieboi

Tasty Indian Bistro is indeed tasty. The name does not lie. This place is very huge so you don't really need to wait for a table in most hours and days. We went here for a Saturday lunch and got seated at a spacious table in one of the rooms. We got Indian coffee, non-vege lunch special with butter chicken, and gobi + paneer paratha thali lunch special. The Indian coffee is pretty good and strong, just a bit small in liquid volume. The non-vege lunch special is fairly scrumptious and good portions. It came with 2 pieces of tandoori chicken cooked perfectly with not much char. It also came with a choice of vegetarian curry which we opted for chana (chickpea) that is well spiced. We opted for garlic naan which had a 75 cent surcharge but it was incredibly delicious so we did not mind. Butter chicken is one of the best here - so much spice (flavor) and fairly rich. The chicken is fairly tender as well. The paratha is pretty good, something fairly new to me. The pickles are more salted than sour; it is like sour plum type of flavor and I liked them more than American pickles. The paratha has generous amount of filling, and I preferred the paneer more. Service is excellent as the waitress checked up on us a few times and made sure requests were fulfilled in a timely manner. Overall, tasty food and good prices - would happily return for other dishes!

Ordering the butter chicken with extra spice was the right move it was the perfect amount of spice. Garlic naan was also one of the best I've tried. This branch is great for big groups as it's super spacious and we managed to get a room with no prior reservation.

Went to celebrate the anniversary of some friends. Parking is always a pain during dinner time. Food tasted great with good portion sizes. Drinks and cocktails left something to be desired. Ordered an Old Fashioned and it was just okay. Service and ambiance were great. The staff were pleasant and overall we really enjoyed our experience.

Leave it to the spice experts. Intense fragrance and rich flavour are the perfect accompaniment to white rice. While the lamb and chicken chunks can be a bit more tender, the flavours packed a punch. The fish pakora could be a little bit juicier but it had a spicy kick with a great herb sauce. A very mouthwatering appetizer indeed. A spacious location with plenty of parking. It was a very convenient place to get to.

Aloo puri and non vege lunch special

First of all, I could feel that they really tried to go above and beyond with customer service. We ordered 3 dishes: butter chicken, aloo puri, non vege lunch special. For each curry/dish, you can choose the spicy level. Butter chicken was extremely creamy and tasty. I would have rather them increase the price of this dish a bit and include rice/naan, because who eats butter chicken without rice/naan? It came without anything and I had to order some carbs after it had arrived. I would usually recommend rice, but their naan here is one of my favs. I'd recommend just getting the plain naan (instead of garlic). It was my first time having aloo puri - deep fried Indian bread with potato curry. This dish came with some yogurt as well, to mix with the curry to decrease the heat? The deep fried Indian bread was all puffed up and light, tasted some eggs in it. Apparently, a popular breakfast choice. Non vege lunch special - this is only offered during lunch on their special menu. I think this is a good deal and a nice set as it includes a selection of 3 curries, rice AND naan! I enjoyed the tandoori chicken the most from this dish, as tandoori oven really does make a difference! I enjoyed the nice ambiance in the restaurant as well. It has a fancy feel to it even though prices are reasonable.

Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. My friends liked all the non-vegetarian items. I would definitely recommend the truffle malai paneer. It's a unique take and a unanimous yes. the blue cheese naan wasn't my favorite, but if you're a blue cheese lover, then you might like it! As for the rest of the food, everything was delicious. I really enjoyed the shahi paneer. The masala fries actually tasted like masala. Definitely try!! Service and ambience were fantastic. Will definitely come back when i make my way back to vancouver again.

I came here for lunch after being recommended by a South Asian friend. This is the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to with delicious food and creative cocktails. The waitress' recommendations were fantastic and I could not be more happy with the food and drinks. I look forward to bringing friends and family to this find!

The best indian restaurant in Vancouver. Ive been to a few and can state that this is by far the best Indian resto in Vancity. Love their food, service, ambience everything. We stopped by for lunch on a weekday and were promptly seated. They also take reservations online so do that on busier days/weekends. We ordered their lamb chops, dynamite shrimp, goat curry, bhatura & garlic naan! Everything was divine but their lamb chops - omg - i still crave for them every week!! Perfectly flavored juicy melt in your mouth chops that are screaming with flavor in every bite. The dynamite shrimp is another app that I can keep munching all night long. It does have a kick to it but you can customize the spice levels while placing your order. The goat curry was delicious and had such simple home made flavors which paired perfectly with the Indian bread. Now for dessert we were stuffed but wouldnt leave without something so ordered their ferrero crunch bar with vanilla ice cream - amazing dense ferrero bar not too sweet but perfect for someone like me who doesnt have a sweet tooth. The vanilla balanced the denseness of the bar as well. Glad we tried it. And their chai - homely! All in all highly recommend this Indian resto when in Vancouver.

5 star service. 5 star ambience. 5 star cuisine! Tandoori chicken straight out of the traditional cylindrical oven served on a preheated hot plate was a dramatic start. Comes with a homemade dipping sauce and fresh lim to add some zest. Lamb Korma offers a rich flavour that leaves a delightful after taste. The lamb itself is tender. No bones to struggle with. Mango chicken curry contrast the lamb Korma with a sweeter taste. Chicken abreast pieces are easy to eat. Our server Navi was attentive but two managers came to check on us. By the time we left, the place was packed full on a Saturday night.

My local friends highly recommend this local authentic Indian spot while on the way out of Vancouver. The goat masala was absolutely delicious, as well as the chicken tikka. The chicken tikka came out hot and sizzling on the plate. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We sat on the patio on a rainy day and loved the ambiance, there are heaters so I didn't get too cold. The place filled up quickly during weekend lunch, I'm glad we got there a bit early!

This restaurant was well worth the drive up from Seattle. We made sure to call ahead and make a reservation. It was nice that we were able to get a table on a weekend evening but going for an early dinner also probably helped with that. The entrance is very impressive with elephant statues outside. The interiors are equally beautiful and give an upscale fancy vibe. Our server was super friendly and helpful, she mentioned the specials after we got the table. I got the Mister Truffle cocktail which was like an old fashioned with a torched orange and was paired with a small glass of maple truffle with parmesan in it. We got the malai truffle paneer appetizer which was one of the specials, which was very unique and super tasty! Followed it by the main course which was butter chicken with a garlic naan and a kalonji naan. The kalonji naan was too good and went well with the butter chicken. The servers and managers were very attentive and checked in on us multiple times to make sure everything was okay and the food was good. It really was one of the best service I've experienced. We ended the meal with another unique dish the Malpua which is not commonly found in other Indian restaurants in the area. It was very delicious and hit the spot. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you are able to!

This is my favorite Indian restaurant! It's always a treat to come here when we are visiting Vancouver, B.C. The service was impeccable! I don't think I have ever had better. Our server was extremely attentive, always ready if we needed anything, had questions, and gave us some recommendations of his personal favorites off the menu. We started our meal with mango lassis. Excellent. We ordered chicken curry, Shahi paneer, and goat curry. You have to order rice separately, unfortunately. We also ordered plain naaan. It's not cheap but it is high quality Indian food in the heart of Surrey. We popped next door to pick up bottles of vindaloo and butter sauce, which are the same wonderful sauces they make at the restaurant. It's not a shop but it's where you pick up take out and they have the sauce and some other merch.

Solid Spot in the Mall, But Some Temperature Issues…read more This was my first time at this particular Ustaad G location, though I'm familiar with the chain. It's situated inside a shopping mall and was pleasantly clean and not too crowded when I visited. I was seated right away, and the waitress was excellent--attentive and checked on me multiple times to ensure everything was good. I ordered my all-time favourite, the Amritsari Kulcha. The bread itself was fantastic and arrived piping hot, just as it should. However, the dish was a bit inconsistent. While the kulcha was hot, the accompanying chickpeas and condiments were only lukewarm. As a former restaurant owner myself, I'm a stickler for this: hot food should be served hot across the board. The portion size was okay, but the garnish was surprisingly minimal--just a few sparse pieces of carrot that looked a bit sad in the tray (see my photo). Despite that, the core flavours were enjoyable. It's not the same as what you'd find in Amritsar, but it's a satisfying dish. Pricewise, well this is Canada and in line with the economy. My Ratings: Ambience: 4/5 - Clean and modern. Service: 5/5 - Prompt and very attentive. Food & Value: 3.5/5 - Tasty, but the temperature issue and skimpy garnish hold it back. A good meal, but with a little more attention to detail on the kitchen line, it could be a great one.
