The man who served us was attentive and wanted to give us a great experience as we were the only table seated in the restaurant on a Saturday evening. Wish we got some photos on this visit, but we will be back to enjoy the food again. They have an extensive menu where you can have various spice levels and a lot of different curry types. Drinks are in cans and bottles, so if you're a fountain drink feen, this may be a bit challenging for you. As for ambiance, there was only one thing that I would wish for and that is music. There was none playing in the restaurant, Their desserts included homemade baklava that had the perfect mix of honey, nuts and spice. One person in our party got a wrap and they are huge. They are made with naan bread and had a traditional style of fillings. It was warm, but she did have a bit of difficulty eating it as it was packed full of meat! Was visiting Albany and stayed in downtown . I was craving for any kind of food but nothing was open in downtown . It was only 8.30 pm and almost everything was closed !!!! Saw some restaurant bars , but they were selling beers but no food ! Thanks to Google , I found this place - curry leaf restaurant. I quickly called them up and was happy that they had food to pick up :) parking was a bit sketchy but since it was slate night I got something outside the restaurant! Lots of space inside the restaurant to sit and eat , but I had to go . Price was not too high. Average price . Ordered food and it was ready in 15-20 mins .. naan was fresh and tasted great . Curry was super duper good ! Wow . Nice and spicy and had so much flavor ! In a place that didn't have any food, I think this restaurant is a blessing ! Thought oh that of giving a 4 star , but for the TIMELY food which tasted great - gave it a 5 star .. it's surely a hidden gem in Albany . read more

The food was fantastic. I ordered delivery. The driver was efficient. The items were packaged great, they even included plates, napkins and plasticware. Their shrimp mushroom dish was phenomenal. Traveled to Albany and had worst food delivery and customer services. I like Indian food, so I ordered a dinner meal with lassi and lassi was served in coffee cup with open where it can easily spell in the delivery bag. It was spelled all over the food and the bag was completely wet. I called them and tried to explain about the situation, but a male individual hanged up a call intentionally without proper response. I called back again and politely expressed if they can response to this situation, but he stated it is Uber problem and not theirs and hanged up the call. In regard to food, I tased a food a bit and it was saltier, one-layer dried paratha as it explained multiple layers in menu and lassi is watery and salty as well. read more

I admit I struggled somewhat as I had a hard time understanding the person I was speaking with. But I'm happy I persisted as we were quite pleased with our entire dinner. We ordered their Special @ $16.95 which included an appetizer, an entrée, Basmati rice, Naan, cucumber raita, mango chutney, and rice pudding. My dinner companion chose the samosa appetizer and Chicken Vindaloo (mild). I chose the samosa appetizer as well (for ease of ordering) and beef Rogan Josh. The spices of the dishes were delicious. Both had large chunks of boneless meat. My beef wasn't the most tender but, again, for the price and flavor, it was quite good. Each of our meals came with two large samosas which were loaded with potatoes and peas. Along with the raita and chutney, we found other sauces and peppers which complimented our dishes nicely. The Naan bread was still piping hot and the rice cooked to perfection. Even the rice pudding was good...probably the best I've had though I haven't been to too many Indian restaurants. Got takeout. One of the best lamb koormas I have ever had!! And I've had a lot! Very coconutty sauce and the lamb was tender. Pakora was OK, not very crispy. They did take the time to discuss gluten allergy with me so I appreciate that. The "Indian French fries" were just normal fries with spicy ketchup LOL. But they were cheap, and good for breakfast the next morning. It was cheaper than most places in the area so I will definitely be getting takeout from here when I visit Albany. read more

Often times when ordering delivery, I know I'm sacrificing hot and fresh for the sake of convenience, but not with Curry Leaf. Every delivery order from them has arrived piping hot, almost as if it was cooked in the car on the way to my house; and for that I'm grateful! I'm a big fan of their Chana masala which offers a welcomed spicy kick, as well as their Dal makhani. The naan is soft and fluffy with great flavor. The samosas are flavorful, crispy, and light. Portions are big enough where one order lasts me 2-3 days, so even though the initial price may seem a little high, the amount of food you get is way worth it in the end. This place is a total dive. The interior is so dirty and uninviting, I felt uncomfortable even being in there. They could maybe at least play some music to make the place seem less post apocalyptic? That being said, I can do a dive so long as the food is good, but that was not the case. I got the samosas, malai kofta and a mango lassi. Samosas we're ok, mango lassi was good, but the kofta didn't even taste like Indian food. I understand that it is listed as "mild", but there was zero spice or seasoning in the sauce. It basically tasted like hot cream. They also, it appears, tried charging me twice. I was there a week ago now, and there is still a pending charge in my account, aside from the charge that already went through. Maybe other dishes are good, but I would recommend doing delivery or take away if you plan on giving it a go. (And keep an eye on your bank account afterwards). read more

I had to write another review. Everything is always soooo fresh!! I just ordered 2 chicken tikka masalas for my girls and a chana masala for myself. It came with cucumber raita, and chutney and naan. My go-to for ordering Indian food before exams. I always get the shrimp biryani, Chana masala, and garlic naan, and that is enough food to last me 2-3 days. Remember to get raita if you don't have plain yogurt at home! The food here is consistently delicious, and they don't skimp on the shrimp. There's usually a grub hub coupon for free garlic naan if you go over a certain price. They are usually on time though they were pretty late one time (I think the driver got lost). Unfortunately, one time we came for lunch buffet and the food was underwhelming and a little cold compared to what I receive in my deliveries. Quiet Friday night but their phones were ringing for lots of delivery's and we were given top notch service. My hubby, son and myself had an amazing dining experience with all delicious dishes. Samosas app was great. Husband and son never had them and tried all the sauces. Very good. Had tandoori chicken which came out on a sizzling plate with caramelized onions. Aloo Gobi (potato/cauliflower) curry, chicken curry, chipati and naan, and my son was sad that he loved the goat curry (his second favorite animal). He said a little thanks to the goat. We all shared everything and I'm please to say that my picky boys loved everything. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZINGLY FLAVORFUL AND DELICIOUS!!! This is a place everyone must try. Occasionally a few things can be on the saltier side but always tasty. Our favorites are the chicken biryani, saag paneer and garlic naan. The Vindaloo was outstanding... multi layers of flavor with just the right heat. The Chicken was ample and very tender. The Boti was what I expected with the marinade soaked all the way through... little chunks of heaven.... There was a mistake with my order, though... the appetizers were missing. Just one phone call, and they corrected it before I even finished the main course... within minutes, the driver was back.... When I opened the bag, I was greeted with a huge, plump Samosa, perfectly fried Pakora and crisp Papdum... complete with Chutney and Cilantro/mint and Tamarind sauces.... I'm a very happy man!! Potential to have fantastic flavor but it really made for an uncomfortable 10 minutes after just one piece. Lassie was good but it was not as thick as others which I prefer. Lamb Biryani was light and fluffy and had great flavor and lots of meat. Chicken tiki masala was more tomato base than I am used to but still had good flavor and lots of meat. Recommended from a co-worker I ordered the chicken vindaloo and garlic bread. The sauce for the vindaloo is great! It is very spicy which is why I like the vindaloo so much. For the price there is a very small amount of chicken and not a lot of potatoes as well. I usually end up using the left over sauce and making more chicken and potatoes after! read more

It's Wednesday so of course it's Indian food tonight. I've tried the other local places but not Curry Leaf since the change of name (and possibly owner?), so decided to give them a go and ordered the Chicken Chili. The good: The sauce is pretty spicy and tasty. Pleasantly surprised because often times at least around here, even asking for spicy won't get you that oh-so delicious burn. The bad, and the reason why this review is one-star: The chicken was absolutely overcooked. Not just slightly. I have to use unreasonable force to spear a piece of chicken with my fork. First I thought I was hitting bone but after the fork tines, ever so slowly, were deep to be able to lift the chicken, I realized the chicken was just ridiculously tough. I was literally eating chicken jerky. It was that level tough. Complete disappointment. Seriously, it was absolutely disgusting. If you like your chicken as jerky as your dinner, then by all means order from here. Otherwise, move along to another, better, Indian restaurant. Because it isn't like there isn't a multitude of them within less than half a block from this place. read more

Absolutely delicious. My partner and I decided to do the 1 Appetizer and 1 Entree Special which includes Basmati Rice, Naan, Cucumber Raita and a Rice Pudding for dessert. I also ordered an entree and we just shared everything. We ordered Samosa, Chicken Malai Masala and Lamb Saag. It was fantastic. The Chicken Malai Masala is a creamy nut sauce. It is a sweeter sauce that has a peanut flavor. The Lamb Saag is spinach puree and had a nice kick to it. Both the chicken and lamb were delicious and amazingly tender. There was so much food for leftovers and I did not want to stop eating. The Rice Pudding was the cherry on top. I will be returning without a doubt. read more
