What an incredible experience! We found this in a google search that was close to our hotel in Charleston. The atmosphere is quaint and charming. The food is divine! Rom did an excellent job taking care of us and made excellent suggestions. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, perfect spice, perfect heat and the lamb was fork tender. Mother had Shrimp Tikka Masala also delish! She also ordered the vegetable samosa which I've never had, but she said was the BEST she's ever had! Indian food has had some decent but frustrating attempts at breaking into the Charleston food scene. I was not wildly optimistic about this one. It is one island out from downtown, but the interior is the kind of glowup where you forget you're on the highway. The place was open and offering lunch specials on a holiday. I thought my lunch thali was taking a bit long, but apparently this was because they were making everything fresh. The twenty minutes or so were well worth it. I received a beautiful spread of classic dishes including paneer, lentils, and chickpeas, as well as salad, bread, rice, and a small dessert for a rounded meal. Every dish had a robust and distinctive spice mix. Getting a chai on top was unnecessary, so I ended up taking it to go. There were no surprises on the menu, but for anyone that is looking for the best North Indian dishes with a home-cooked taste, this was the best I've had in Charleston. read more

Delighted that we have another new Indian restaurant in the area. Curry Palace is located in West Ashley near St. Andrew's Blvd and it's magical. The food and varied menu selection are fantastic. They offer Thalis at lunchtime and they have a take out menu. Our dishes were really really good. The staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant itself is very pleasing with lots of tables for 2, 4 & larger groups. The sweetest part of this visit was the amazing menu prices. We didn't feel like we were gouging our wallets. The way Indian restaurants should be in my experience. We will definitely return here & bring our Indian food loving friends. They have healthy selection of Gluten Free, Vegetarian & Vegan dishes. All of the Indian food staples were available, including options for vegetarian and vegan eaters. Everything was decent, but none of us have had a strong desire to return. It was just really crowded, really noisy, and there were a couple of drink and food mistakes made - including bringing something non-vegan to a vegan member of our party. Finally tried the Curry Palace.... sorry we haven't been before now! The restaurant was very clean and staff greeted us as soon as we walked in. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken. They only have 2 beer on draft but they do have other beer and drinks. We ordered the Westbrook White Thai, which actually went perfect with the spices in the food. I ordered the chicken curry and it was amazing. It had plenty of big chunks of chicken and the curry sauce had the perfect amount of spice and heat. My husband ordered the chicken vindaloo. He wanted it hot with spice but the server suggested medium and extra spice on the side, since the vindaloo was already spicy. This was a great suggestion and the dish was perfect and very enjoyable. We also ordered an order of the garlic chili naan and it was probably some of the best naan we have ever had. Had a perfect amount of garlic and just enough chili on it to have a perfect amount of spice. This will be in the regular rotation. I would suggest making reservations since the restaurant is not really large and it filled up quickly! So glad this place opened West Ashley! Delicious!! read more

Traditional Northern Indian cuisine housed in a good location ~ 652 St Andrew's Boulevard in West Ashley. You won't find buffet set up with all you can eat, so food is presented, freshly prepared. The brightly lit dining room has curtained windows at every table. There is also an outdoor area to dine in front of the restaurant. Parking is convenient and steps from the door. I went in on a Sunday at noon and got the lunch box special, which is complete with rice, dal and naan. A side of Kheer ( Indian rice pudding) is also included. I ordered the hot chai tea to combine with the flavors of the meal. The service is friendly and efficient as well as attentive. You are able to order online for pick up or reserve your table for lunch and dinner. We welcome Curry Palace to the neighborhood! read more

This restaurant is amazing and just what West Ashley needed! I had the most delicious Indian food dinner last night. The restaurant is small and charming. The seating is comfortable and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We had the Curry Palace Special - Pani Poori - as a perfect start to the meal. Next we had Gobi Manchurian - crispy cauliflower in a delicious sauce. For our entrees, I had the best Butter Chicken of my life! My husband enjoyed the delicious Paneer Biryani. They have done such a nice job taking over the old French restaurant that was in here that was cute as well, but they've done a nice touch with everything of course simple but clean and attractive. The service could not have been better, very attentive and professional and good at making suggestions. Now onto the food we had mimosa traditional appetizers, but I think the thali plate was one of the best values for a good lunch sampler. Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes definitely worth going to, but don't tell your friend because I'm afraid they'll get so busy we won't be able to get in here it is that delicious:-) read more

We had an excellent "day one" dinner at the freshly opened (read: today) Curry Palace in the previous Le Bonne Franquette space on St Andrew's Blvd. We've had our fingers crossed ever since we saw the sign go up. The space, while looking familiar, was given a fresh coat of paint and changed just enough to lose the French cafe vibe while maintaining the quaintness of the space. The outdoor patio looked freshened up and seemed bigger than it was but actually isn't. We ordered our goto test dished when trying out a new Indian spot: Butter Naan Garlic Chili Naan Chicken Tikka Masala (mild) Lamb Vindaloo (spicy) Basmati Rice (included with entrees) Mango Lassi Hot Chai The Naans were both good and fresh and a great vehicle for all sauce from the entrees The Chicken Tikka was beautifully tender and the sauce was rich with warm spices. The Lamb Vindaloo was also very tender and I was happy to see that there was a little bit of fat left on the meat because fat is flavor and a lot of places over trim in my opinion to the point where the meat can be dry from lack of fat. I ordered it spicy but I'm a heat freak so I will ask for a little extra heat next time. But the sauce was savory and not overly sweet which is exactly what I look for in Vindaloo. The rice was perfectly cooked, each grain separate and light. The chai was hand made and the Mango Lassi was also not overly sweet. A great pairing with the spicy naan and vindaloo. They do have a full bar with Cocktails, Beer, Wine, and zero proof options. We will definitely be going back to Curry Palace. Food was great service was incredible. This restaurant went in after my beloved French restaurant closed and I was skeptical since business early last at this location. We took our our of town guests here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant hadn't changed much from the decor of the previous restaurant and felt very familiar. For the second time in 2 months, my wife and I returned to the Currie Palace for lunch, and it was every bit as good as the first time. Rom was our happy server, and this time we ordered Fish Pakora, Chicken Saag, Shrimp Curry, and Chili Garlic Naan, which we washed down with a large bottle of Flying Horse beer and a glass of Chardonnay. Everything was wonderful, and, even though we'd ordered less than the first time, we still took home some Chili Garlic Naan, which really is fabulous. Don't let the tight interior of this restaurant fool you. You won't be disappointed! We like the table for 4, in the corner of the room, where we can "spread out." Highly recommend! Just moved to Charleston and was looking for a local spot for great indian food- and we found it! They just recently opened and have a huge menu. The inside and patio is adorable, and the service was so attentive and kind! I ordered the chicken vindaloo that was the perfect amount of spicy, and had lots of sauce to dip the garlic naan in. We drive past this area of Saint Andrews very often and have watched the restaurants come and go. We are definitely hoping that Curry Palace lasts! First it struck us how beautiful it is decorated. A nice subtle ambience with great Indian music. The service was impeccable. Every person that we came in contact with was so warm and friendly. And then the food, we both got a lunch special. I got the curry Palace specialty, which had tandoori chicken, chicken masala with goat, Dal and Naan, rice and dessert for $16! It was so authentic and wonderful.
