The quality and amount of food you get with the lunch Thali is a STEAL! It was stellar. The chicken tikka masala is rich and full of flavor. The naan was fluffy and the perfect sauce scooper. My SO and I decided to go here for Christmas dinner. We wanted something that wasn't too elaborate, so I turned to my Yelp community to look for ideas. I gave them four stars ... even though they were jam packed inside due to the Christmas holiday, everything was spot on. The servers were hustling to and fro and were very thoughtful in helping me with my dietary needs. The missing fifth star is because I was a little disappointed in the flavors, however. It wasn't bad per se, it just didn't pop like I've had at other places. The samosas were lacking in the kick you typically get. Such a hidden gem in Mt Pleasant! I ordered over the phone for a takeout order and it was easy and ready in 20min. The gobi Manchurian (fried cauliflower) is absolutely amazing. You completely forget you're eating a vegetable because there's so much flavor!!! Makhanni chicken is their version of butter chicken and you can order it mild, medium or hot essentially. I ordered medium and it was the perfect level of spice and not totally taking over the sweet side of the dish too. The portions are HUGE. I get 3 servings out of it with the rice as well. It comes with 3 sauces as well to use to your desire! The inside of the restaurant is very inviting and bright and would be a lovely date spot. It's well suited for singles, couples, and groups - there was a group of 8 people when I was there, speaking Urdu and enjoying the cuisine as much as I was. Tables were set well, with silverware, cloth napkins, and tablecloths. I had Thali, their lunch special: two meat dishes, two veggie dishes, salad and dessert. It's a crispy rice & lentil crepe with whatever filling you want in the center, leaving the outer crust for the breaking and taking. I've always wanted to try this little restaurant and today at lunchtime I did. I was not aware that they close at 2 o'clock on a weekday. I showed up five minutes before the kitchen closed and didn't realize the time or I would've turned around and left. As soon as I saw the time that they closed, I asked the host if I should get my order to go or come back at another time. He said the kitchen closes in five minutes, but you can order and eat here. He brought me a menu and proceeded to rush me through ordering when it is a five or six page menu. He was somewhat impatient that I didn't know exactly what I wanted. I took his advice and got the shrimp curry with rice. The food came and there were exactly 6 shrimp , in a curry sauce with absolutely no flavor anywhere to be found. The tails on the shrimp were left on, Shell and all. Before my food came, I was asked if I wanted bottled water or tapwater. Having been asked that in restaurants and other places in the world, I immediately prepared myself for the expensive bottle of water I was about to be offered. They did not disappoint and brought out a blue bottle that was nine dollars. I selected the tapwater. The food had no vegetables except maybe five pieces of cut up pepper, little to no spice and was like having a bowl of shrimp soup. This entrée was $26. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was in the rushed service and the absolutely worthless food . I will not be back. Only one other customer in the whole restaurant. This is always a clue. We celebrated Diwali 2024 at Spice Palace, and what a hidden gem it is! Mount Pleasant is lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant. We started with the Malabar Meat Sampler, which included lamb samosa, chicken, kababs, and naan--each dish was flavorful and a perfect introduction to the meal. For our entrees, we had goat curry and tandoori chicken, both cooked to perfection. The portions are family-style, so even though the food was amazing, we couldn't finish it all. To top it off, we were treated to a complimentary Diwali dessert, which was absolutely delicious! The service is always top-notch, staff was really nice and accomodating. Continuing my globe trotting adventures and tonight it was Indian food. We decided Spice Palette. It was close to our hotel and had a broad menu featuring an array of Indian cuisine. And let me tell you, not disappointed. When we arrived, ample parking out front, I said to my wife ... looks like a carry out!! How wrong was I. Upon entering was greeted by the friendly receptionist who offered choice seating. Quickly seated and presented with menus. The choices were outstanding coupled with a very robust stocked bar....to include Blantons and other top shelf burbons coupled with speciality drinks. Not only that substitutions were provided with no issues. It was a quiet weekday evening as such the place was not crowded, yet the ambieance was welcoming and environmentally comfortable. Ohhh, let's discuss the food...Can we say outstanding. Favorable, with the traditional exotic Indian spices and well presented. Definitely, on my bucket list to do again if opportunity presents. Let me cap this off by saying, multiple tables, and two staff working the tables and the bar and I do not believe there was one table nine the house that felt like they were being unattended too!!!! Decided to try Spice Pallet after several people recommended it and drove over. It is a quick drive from downtown and there is plenty of parking which makes it very easy to get to. The place is decorated beautifully with colorful murals and modern furniture. We did not have a wait and sat down right away. I tried the chicken korma, and asked for "medium spicy". The sauce was delicious as well as the rice and naan. The portions were large enough that there was enough for another bring to take home for lunch the next day. The spicy level was just perfect, not overpowering but definitely felt it was there. Will be totally coming back and trying more of their offerings. read more

A higher quality Indian restaurant than Charleston has had up to this point, I agree. Stopping in for a holiday meal left me with an abundance of choices. The appetizer sampler I picked was a disappointment. There were so many cauliflower and broccoli pakoras, of which I'm no fan. If it was one or two I'd shrug it off, but they had so many other appetizers, and yet their sampler was mostly pakoras and not some of the more interesting options on there (no okra, no hara bhara kabob, nothing to dip any of my fried indulgences in besides one tamarind sauce), so it was kind of a waste for me, though I'll be eating the leftover goodies for a while. My entree was an okra dish that was well cooked, with delightfully crisp onions and peppers and a kick of fresh ginger, with a cherry tomato or two on top. I cook similar dishes at home, but not this well. The rice was so ample and my appetizer so fried that I'm glad I skipped bread; it would have been too much. To their credit, they were very much in the holiday spirit and offered me a champagne on the house (I'm not a drinker but I appreciate the thought) as well as some sort of fruit-studded mousse (I am definitely a dessert eater). A papadum with some onions and mint chutney is apparently a standard offering. So you'll certainly leave full. read more

Got the chicken tikka masala this week only because of a postmates deal. It was not good. First, we ordered 2 meals and only got one bowl of rice. At our regular indian restaurant, we get that same container of rice for 1 meal. The sauce was sooo very bland. I know it's tikka masala..,,, but this tasted like tomato sauce, was on the verge of being sweet. Was missing any "spice". This restaurant does not take reservations under a party of 6, so to avoid a wait line, we arrived at 4:20 pm. The Sea Island strip center is well lit and offers ample parking spots. It was a smart choice to arrive early, as surprisingly, there were only 10 people waiting. We had our choice of seating and picked a table in the back on the bar side where I would not be close to any other diners. The dining room is lovely. The owners did it great job in utilizing the space. The decor is inviting and welcoming. Before I could blink, a basket of two large pappadum arrived with two different sauces. Unfortunately, I did not get the names. The pappadum was fresh, crunchy and oh, so tasty. Surprisingly, our server did not come for our drink order until after we finished. With knowledge of the portion sizes (thanks, Yelpers), I did not ask for more though I really love a salty crunch and probably could have munched my way through at least two more. I ordered the Bombay Gin-Gin, their version of a gin and tonic, prepared with (obviously) Bombay Gin, a lime ginger juice and tonic water. It was clean, crisp and a good choice. My husband abstained. The wine list is adequate; however , I was surprised that prices started at $14.00/glass, a bit pricey for the area, with no option for a less costly glass of house wine. We started with an order of Kheema Samosa, 3 large, crisped pastries, filled heavy with spiced ground lamb. Served with a dipping sauce, (tamarind?), they were filling and really delicious. My husband loves hot, spicy food so he immediately went for the Lamb Vindaloo, a 'three pepper' dish prepared in a hot Goan red chili sauce. The portion was huge and served with a more than ample order of a fragrant rice. He also ordered a side of honey ginger naan. He was happy, full and yes, took home 2 of the four naan and enough of his entree for a second meal. My entree, unfortunately, did not meet my expectation. The rack of lamb, marinated with herbs and spices, grilled in a tandoor, served with vegetable biryani, broccoli and garlic naan was huge and was beautiful. The four large, double lamb chops were stacked high over a generous portion of vegetable biryani. At the server's suggestion, they were ordered medium rare; however, what arrived was medium to well done. They were neither warm or fresh tasting. The broccoli was almost cold to my touch, brown, very off putting. The naan was hot, fresh and delicious. The biryani was tasty, but left to take home, along with 2 pieces of naan. Perhaps, I should have sent the lamb and broccoli back. Perhaps, I ordered the wrong dish. By the time our entrees arrived, the dining room was full and frankly, I was full already so I chose not to 'rock the boat,' so to speak. The menu is large with options for any diner.
