Here are my reasons: (1) absolutely no customer service as it relates to your policies. You have access to an email that goes to who knows where and no one really knows whats going on; (2) in connection with item #1, they adopt and enforce absolutely ridiculous policies. I was a member of the Vancouver branch and wanted to transfer to the Calgary branch. I was told this was impossible. Instead, my options were to "upgrade" my membership at double the monthly rate or cancel my Vancouver membership, re-enroll with Calgary and pay the initial joining fee again; (3) there's no water fountain. This one is actually extremely bizarre. How can it even be legal to permit people to work out in an environment where dehydration can only be mitigated by waiting for some guy to finish his business in the washroom so that you can desperately access to sink taps? I know its a "no frills" gym but, Fit 4 Less, is a water fountain really a "frill"? At this point, your members may even settle for a garden hose attached in the alley. Don't sign up with this gym. I realize the price point "appears" worth it, but trust, there are better ones out there with similar or the same prices. (World Gym in Calgary for one).

When I cancelled my membership, I was explicitly told --both in person and in writing by staff--that extra fees would be waived. Despite that clear agreement, the gym later tried to charge me anyway, hiding behind contract terms instead of honoring their own word. To make matters worse, random "fees" that I was never made aware of were added, including a so-called "facility fee." This is not just a matter of money, but of honesty and integrity. If a company promises something to its members, it should follow through. Instead, I was left feeling misled, nickel-and-dimed, and taken advantage of. There are plenty of other gyms in Calgary that value transparency and treat their members with respect. Based on my experience, GYMVMT North Hill Centre does neither.

All it took was one class - I forgot how much I loved it! A gal recently asked me why I returned, and I told her that I was now the slowest, weakest, and fattest I've been in years, so I decided to return to the place that I know gets the job done! With hard work, perseverance, and stellar coaching staff, I'm starting to see my body transform. I wanted to address the horrible treatment i received today not only from Raeann, but from the front desk girl as well as the one that called me in to the office upon arrival. I signed up through the mind body app, and scheduled my yoga class through there. I got to the desk 10 mins before the class as that is what the class description said. I was then told to wait and have some other girl frantically tell me shes so rushed now to get me registered, which i thought was done already through the app. This meeting she all but blamed me and made me feel as though i was a burden to her, and that this was not how it was supposed to be. Again, nowhere does this say this when booking through mind body that there needs to be a tour and such prior to me scheduling anything. After class, i left, and checked if i had a phone number for the facility, i only had a text from Raeann, which i have attached here, again, no mention of a 1 hr needed for tour and processing etc. In her text, i will note however, in the berating phone call after, she did lie and say she had called so many times and explained over voicemail, which did not happen. I texted Raeann back as attached below, to which she berated me (in her calm, soft spoken voice as she continued to say, while talking down to me) talk over me, and say she didn't want me in her club when i asked to speak to a manager because her behaviour was an insane way to treat anyone, let alone a new member. She then back peddled and again, blamed me for having a bad day and was taking it out on her (when she called me to seemingly blame a new member with a valid concern that i calmly, privately tried to address ?) She lied saying she called multiple times, when she called once and texted me. She also lied about her manager being on vacation, as when i called the front desk, they said he would be in on Monday. Her attitude over the phone was horrible, her condescending way of speaking was uncalled for and her threats of telling everyone about me, and not letting anyone else speak to me, is absolutely insane. I would like to speak to anyone above her as soon as possible. Thanks. If this is how this place is run, DO NOT GO HERE.

I have never been the type of person to actually go and write a bad review for a business/service,…read moreno matter how unsatisfied I have been. I am sad that my first such review is for a place that had been a way for me to care for my well being and better myself for the past three years. I am writing due to the unfortunate mistreatment I received tonight at the Goodlife Coventry Hills by Elle and Alex. The former being someone that I have had frequent bad encounters with. I am surprised that there are no assessments of politeness, client service, and overall check on the behaviours of the employees at Goodlife. Whenever I am faced with rudeness from younger Goodlife employees I let it slide since I have also worked in retail and customer service at the start of my profession just to gather experience and pocket money. However, what I am utterly astounded by is Elle's behaviour (an older Employee) towards me which has consistently occurred for several occasions. Tonight was the last straw, when I was badgered and disrespected by Elle and Alex. Apparently the Goodlife regulations have changed and now those who come in for working out need to wear masks during workout as well. I was not aware of this. No one made this clear to me when I entered the gym and I have not received an email specifying this as Alex claimed. These new regulations have been in place for some weeks now, from what I heard from Elle who wasn't sure about it either (why one wouldn't know anything about their job is beyond me). I have attended the gym in the last few days, the past night being the most recent. During these visits I have not seen a single mask being work by anyone who had been working out. Tonight Alex approached me in the middle of my workout and told me that regulations have changed and that I need to have a mask on me during work out. This I understood. I said okay. I want to clarify that I am not the type of person who does not wear masks. I understand the need for it and I always make sure that I am following the proper guidelines for preventing the spread of the disease. Not even a minute later when Alex went to the front desk, Elle came and very rudely and very publicly embarrassed me by saying that I need to wear a mask right now or leave the gym. My mask was in the locker room and I didn't realize that Alex had meant that I need to go get it right then and there (perhaps employ someone who can communicate clearly?). At this point, I was embarrassed, upset, and I did not feel in the right mindset to continue working out. I did not respond to Elle and from the middle of my workout went to the locker room to gather my things. I went to let Alex and Elle know that the way they singled me out was not okay. I proceeded this very calmly, however before I was even finished with my sentence, Elle very loudly interrupted me and began claiming that I am wrong, that she did not single me out, and that I should leave. During this whole exchange I don't think a single word that I said was heard by either of the two since they both kept saying the same things over and over without letting me talk. Complete animal behaviour right there. I have never before been disrespected in such a way no matter the place or situation. Very sadly I had to cancel my membership at Goodlife since with such behaviour and employees, it is no longer my safe place where I go regularly to stay on top of my fitness. If you are considering getting a membership here, please do yourself a favor and don't. Waste of money and time. Rude, disrespectful, and ignorant employees. You just lost yourself a loyal and regular client who knows a lot of people with goodlife memberships and will be getting them to cancel theirs as well. Keep hiring such wack employees, keep losing customers. With much love, Freshta

One of the fitness advisors was in a rush when we signed up our contract for FOUR members and lied (I assume to get off work faster) by telling us that the contract would end by itself at the end of the year and terminate. I went in to the company after being charged once for the "last payment" which I ALREADY paid for at the beginning, they told me they couldn't do anything and I had to book an appointment with the manager. I went in for an appointment and they still couldn't do anything. No surprise there! I asked to see my payment records before to show my double charge of the last payment but they apparently only seemed to have history of my payments after my contract period, and have no copies of anything before. What a coincidence! A friend of mine was at another location and asked to put her account on hold for their $5 a month deal and instead they also lied and continued to charge her full for another 3 months then said it was the employee's mistake. Just like the employee who lied to the 4 of us who signed up together. I was told that they would help me by emailing head office about my problem, and when I asked to CC the email I was told they actually aren't going to email and are going to do a live chat and cannot show us what their head office says! To shorten : terrible company - they charged me 4 more times after the termination of my contract without notifying me about it even ending and also charged me for a last payment I already did. ** there are WAY better fitness companies to sign up with that do not try to scam you and find a way to charge you more. I work for an emergency medical service that provides transportation and care to some of Canada's sickest patients. In good conscience, I am not comfortable with attending my gym at this time. On June 22nd I received an email from Goodlife stating, "If you aren't ready to return to your Club just yet... we are offering a temporary Membership freeze to any Member who requests it..." Upon reading this I called my club and requested a freeze. I was told that I could freeze my membership, but it was not worth it because the membership was going to expire on July 16th. I asked, shouldn't freezing the membership just push back the expiration date until the freeze is removed? The employee did not seem to understand what I was asking. Then I asked if I could renew my membership and immediately freeze it. The employee told me that a freeze could not be applied to a recently renewed membership. Lastly, I asked if I could let my membership lapse and re-register when it is responsible to attend the club again. The employee told me I could do this, but I would have to pay the registration fee ($100 I believe) as if I were a new member. I was a long time Goodlife membership holder (my Dragon Boat team and I almost exclusively work out at Goodlife). I am also unable to attend the gym as I work at an organization that is supporting the fight against Covid-19. I am incredibly disappointed that Goodlife will not allow me to freeze my membership, or will charge me the registration fee if I choose to renew my membership later. I would have liked to continue to support Goodlife, but given this lack of assistance I have chosen to enroll at a different gym when I am able to do so.

I may have been scammed out of a lot of money if I hadn't been keeping track of when I went to my training sessions, asked for a print out from gym of the times I swiped in and also hadn't been able to provide proof that I was out of town when she billed me. If you have purchased sessions with a fitness trainer....ALWAYS after each session sign a confirmation form and definitely keep track of all sessions or you could be taken advantage of by a personal trainer/fitness manager. The Regional Manager looked into this and ended up solving it by refunding me my full amount that I had paid in advance. I was happy with the 'fix' and management apologized to me on Sherri's behalf as she has never acknowledged this or apologized to me herself. I would NEVER recommend a GoodLife Personal Trainer to anyone as I don't trust them now!!
