This review is for the quality of service even though we decided to go another direction and replace an old vinyl recliner instead of repair. I reached out to Furniture & Repairs for a couple or recliners that my grandmother needed repaired. They were quick with a response through Yelp and even followed up with me directly before reaching out to my grandmother. Not only were they thorough in explaining the estimate and repair process, they followed up multiple times to try and schedule an appointment -- only wish grandma would have put in her hearing aids a little sooner to answer their calls! Ultimately, she decided that purchasing a new vinyl recliner might be more frugal but is looking forward to having them come out and repair a leather recliner once she's got her new furniture delivered. Very disappointed with my experience. I called on Monday to request service for a broken chair and promptly submitted the inquiry form as instructed. Since then, I have spoken with multiple employees and have called every day trying to schedule an appointment. Despite my repeated follow-ups, no one has been able to provide me with an appointment time or even confirm whether any availability exists. It is now Friday, and I am still waiting for basic information about scheduling. I broke my wife's eames chair (whoops!) and in the course of trying to fix it discovered it was a replica so I could not find anyone willing to tackle the repair. But I finally found Furniture & Repairs and they sent someone out to take a look. He took the time to fully understand the issue and worked with me to value engineer a fix. We couldn't be happier! I honestly thought we were going to have to throw it away so it was a huge win that they could fix it. And the guys who came to pick it up and then drop it off were super careful and helpful. My only complaint is it can take forever to schedule each step in the process because they give you a call offering a specific time in the schedule and if it doesn't work for you then you have to wait for another call when they next have an opening - there's no real back and forth on scheduling. But I'd read reviews that highlighted this, plus they're very up front that that's their process, and we weren't in a rush so it didn't bother me at all. For the second time, Furniture & Repairs has come through for me. I have a velvet covered bench from Pottery Barn. After 4 years of daily use, one of the wheels broke off. I called on a Friday, and on Tuesday, Furniture & Repairs sent Mike to see what he could do. After taking photos and measurements, he took the broken wheel and the leg with him. On the following Monday, less than a week later, Mike delivered my beautifully repaired bench leg with the wheel firmly bolted in place. It cost $245, a whole lot less than the price of a similar bench ($500-$700), especially for such an excellent repair job. We have used this company to repair two couches that still had life left in them, but just needed new furniture foam. Both times we were able to schedule easily. The technician stopped by during the allotted timeframe and was able to provide a clear estimate and time frame for the repair. Return visits were scheduled and the technicians were prompt. The first couch required a few hours of repair while in our home. The end result, a once again comfy couch. The other couch required the cushions to be taken back to the shop. They quoted a timeframe, but they were ready to bring them back much sooner. Again, our little couch was restored and the cushions much more supportive. I definitely recommend this company. I could not be happier right now. I contacted F&R via the Yelp app and they scheduled a technician to come out to look at my powered recliner which had stopped working. It only took a couple of days to get someone scheduled, and when Shon got here today he had the issue identified and fixed within 15 minutes. FIFTEEN MINUTES! I purchased this chair 4 years ago. It's a "Cuddler" from Living Spaces that is big enough for me and my dog to recline and watch tv. The switch powers the recline/footrest and the headrest as well as a USB power port. When the chair stopped working, I tried everything I could think of to fix it myself. I unplugged and replugged and purchased a replacement cable that I thought might be the problem .. but nothing worked. I assumed it was the motor, so I finally gave up and decided to go for expert help. Well, it turned out it wasn't the motor - it was the switch. I could either wait for a switch to be identified, ordered, and another trip to replace, or I could go for a separate by-pass switch. I went with the latter, which turns out to be nice because now I can recline the chair from either side by bringing the switch over to the left or right. Being tied to the switch on the right side of the chair was always something that bugged me - so problem solved there, too. In any case .. Shon was able to fix the chair in short order. He had me check the chair out before he left, and both my dog and I are back to cuddling in the cuddler. So flipping happy right now. read more
