The bad; custom complete automotive. I need someone to help me understand this conversation. I called about having the O2 sensors changed on my daughters jeep. The man said it depends on which sensor needs changed and I said I'd like to have both changed (because they both go out, about every 80,000 miles). He said well we'd have to diagnose the problem and that costs $125 if you have the work done here, we waive that fee. I said but there's nothing to diagnose. I just want to be proactive and have them changed because of the milage and before there's a problem. He then said we have to diagnose the issue first so I again said I'm trying to be proactive. He then said you don't change O2 sensors proactively. Okay I cannot wrap my mind around this! The only thing I can think is this is a guaranteed way for them to get money out of you without giving you an upfront price. That's like a tire shop saying yeah, we won't change your tires until it's flat. But if you bring it in and we diagnose you need new tires, and we change them here we'll waive the $125 diagnosis fee.... but then they tell you their cheapest tire is $500 each tire. Look it's a $50 part each and I need two and a 20 minute jib and that seems crazy they won't even quote me a price. I do not reccomend any place that won't be transparent with their pricing. read more

Obviously a serious miscommunication of desired service for a basic oil change. OUTRAGEOUS & INCONCEIVABLE!!! I felt scammed. Checked my car's owners manual & it actually stated the additives Custom used were not recommended & could actually, "adversely affect the engine performance & durability". When I asked to have them remove & redo, they initially wanted to charge me another $90 to do so. That's now their price for a basic oil change. I was concerned about keeping that oil with additives in the car given my owners manual recommendation not to. Custom did finally SAY they redid the oil change for no charge but honestly I'm not sure they actually really did. I couldn't watch them. Zero stars from myself and friends. These guys are incompetent or, more likely, crooks. I recently took my vehicle in for an oil change and inspection. I've used them for oil changes before, no problem. I got a call back stating my brakes failed the inspection and they wanted to go ahead with a $900 fix. I don't have that kind of money so went in to pick it up and get a second opinion. I knew something was up the moment I went inside to pay for the inspection and oil change because the manager taking my money appeared super uncomfortable speaking with me when he was "charming" and "smooth" when I dropped my car off. My car actually passed the inspection, though the brakes did need work. The manager bold-faced lied on the phone about the brakes failing the inspection. I took my car in to someone else and the repair cost less than $400. I'm never returning to Custom and will warn every one of my friends and family in the area to stay away as well. It's not acceptable to lie to customers and charge triple the rate of others in the area. In addition, after speaking with friends about my experience, each one that had taken their cars there for repair had similar horrible experiences to share. read more

IF I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS I WOULD! I went in to get my oil changed, and to have a suspicious noise checked out in my car. 30 minutes later I get a call saying the noise is coming from my engine and that the entire engine needs to be replaced. Knowing nothing about cars, I was fortunate enough to have my dad on hand (well versed in cars) to speak with the guy about the problem. My dad spent 5 minutes on the phone then went to speak with them in person. Upon return, he said the guy at the shop further explained that he needed to remove the oil pan to ACTUALLY INVESTIGATE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, which was going to cost $150. He then told my dad that he still wanted to move forward w/ the engine replacement - for a $2200 minimum. Not knowing what the real problem was, the guy from the shop was sure of himself when telling me that I needed a new engine. Complete money mongrels with terrible service who try and strangle money out of you without actually knowing what is wrong with your car. read more

RUDE!!! My sister and I went in for oil changes on our cars. We called ahead to see when they closed, and showed up an hour before closing. I got there 5 minutes before my sister because we got separated at a traffic light. They told me it would take 45 minutes to do my oil change, but then said they couldn't change my oil because my car was too new and they didn't have the filer. Fine. I almost expected that and didn't mind. My sister walked in 5 minutes after I did. The guy came to the counter, and then started taking care of other business (phone calls and emails) instead of helping us even though we were the only persons in the store! THEN, they tell her they don't accept customers an hour and a half before closing because they like to clean up, even though 5 minutes ago they told me that could get me in and out in 45 minutes and they didn't have any other customers. Once I pointed that out, another guy said they could have her car back in a jiffy, while the first guy said she may not get it back before closing. They agreed to do the oil change, and I decide to get my car washed across the street. As we're walking out they chase after us and make sure that we know they close at 4pm and if we weren't back in time we would have to get her car in the morning, though we had already gathered that from the fact that they almost didn't service her car. The whole oil change took 20 minutes at the most, so there was no reason for them to be rude when we walked in there in the first place. AND THEN they tried to brown nose us when we picked up the car because they "found something wrong" and wanted to fix it... for $700. No thank you. I will never go back there again. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Spent 1800 buck to get an oil leak fixed. Ok that's fine i guess but without telling a really long story, basically they didn't put it back together right. Two days later the water temp light came on so took it back in and they said "oh that's just an air bubble" in the cooling system. (they had apparently removed the radiator to work on the motor and therefore changed the coolant too). Anyway, 3 days later the Mrs. had to drive the car to Minnesota except that it broke down in the middle of BFE Iowa. Had to have it towed 22 miles and spent the night at a hotel in Ames. Seems it was completely out of coolant and the mechanic in Iowa discovered that they didn't reconnect one of the radiator hoses correctly. I could almost (almost) excuse a mistake on reconnecting something but I can't excuse them not fixing it when we brought it back in before the trip. Their "warranty" is a joke. It limits their liability more than it protects the customer. In the end, they covered our expenses for the towing and hotel but frankly I felt they could have done a better job of fixing this customer's experience. The manager seemed sincerely sorry but that's about where their concern stopped. I would not trust this place to work on my car again. read more

I have been a customer Custom Complete Automotive at least for the last three years. In all these years, I have found that they are a very reputable an honest company. I find that they are a company you can trust with your car. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars they were able to identify the problem, quickly I might add, and it only costs me 71 dollars, it was truly a blessing! read more

When I got my very first car this was the auto mechanic I went to. I basically trusted what they said because I had no clue what I was doing. I learned later trusting them was a bad plan. Here is just a sample of their wonderful work! I was told my power steering pump was going bad and it needed replacing. So I believed them and paid for the new pump and all the other stuff they said I needed. Then 2 months go by and it's inspection time. I think no big deal, just go to them again. The guy comes out and tells me that the power steering line is leaking. He informs me that he cannot let me drive away because the car is not safe to operate I could lose steering at anytime. I listen to his whole informational about my horrible power steering and it's dangerous nature. I then ask him how the leak happened, he tells me it's just age, but he can fix it for me. I tell him he did fix it for me 2 months ago and so yes I want that still under warranty part fixed better. He goes out to my car and walks around it once and comes back with good news. My car passed and the power steering fluid is not leaking. I had a check engine light come on, but the car was driving fine. I was told I need massive work as my serpentine belt was gone. Not bad, old, or catching, just gone. I learned later that cars cannot move foreword with that belt entirely missing. I had my car fixed as it was making an odd sputtering motion. I was told it was a bad wire no problem, I paid they fixed it. I drove 20 minutes happens again. They did the second fix for free which was fantastic (basically warranty was honored and it's why they are getting 2 and not 1 star), but I feel 20 minutes and having to go through it a second time was not ideal. TL;DR: I felt on multiple occasions their work was poor and question their honesty. read more

I have been going to Custom Complete Automotive for years. I have never had a single issue EVER. Between the gracious customer service and reliable mechanics; I am not sure my cars would still be running as smoothly today. The complaints I read seem to be those of impatient or unwilling customer's who are not willing to listen and ask questions. They are assuming they are mechanics themselves. I have a Degree in Computer Networking. I am not a mechanic. Anytime, Any day I will happily call and ask them an issue and then bring my car in if needed. Loyal Customer for Life. Also remember everyone has opinion: The few we see here are just that. To even attempt to say their staff is rude is a farce. If one is also to name an "independent mechanic", one would think to post his information for the rest to call if so they could use him too with such issues. I had my fuel pump repaired twice and the fuel pump went out each time supposed to have a lifetime warranty. After picking up my truck today the fuel pump went back out and when I contacted the store on Nifong Blvd I was told there was nothing that they could do after paying $605. This was a terrible experience. I was quoted a time frame and price for changing my heater core: day and a half/$750. My car was kept for 3 and a half days and they ended up charging me $1500, and completing work I didn't ask for. The service person wasn't able to explain why this happened, or why i was quoted such a low price in the beginning. I wasn't offered a refund or money back, or even an apology. To make matters worse, the air conditioning button no longer works, which will be extra money trying to figure out what happened there. Overall, terrible experience. Will not be back, will post negative reviews wherever I can, and will tell people not to bring their cars here. read more

I recently had car trouble's with my Pontiac G8, so I took it to Custom Complete and they figure out what was wrong and what was going to take to fix it and do it right. They gave me a good price and they did a really good job. I've had a lot of work done to my car through them and I haven't had any issues with it yet. Had my oil changed and tires rotated on Saturday, and of course they tried to sell me new tires. Made it seem like my current tires were going to fall off, which they aren't. I'm still good for SEVERAL more miles. Then last night, Monday (2 days later), I noticed oil on my garage floor. Checked the oil gauge and it was really low. Filled a quart at the gas station and came home to clean the garage floor. Moved the car on Tuesday morning and a nice liberal amount of oil was on the floor. So how much oil did I really lose overall? Took it back to CCA and they said the oil plug gasket was torn. You couldn't have noticed this when putting the plug back on Saturday? Or how about seeing how well everything ran after the oil change? Don't worry, I'll change my own oil from now on, because I can...and I definitely won't be buying tires from CCA either. UPDATE: had to go back today, Thursday, 2 days after my previous review... Still leaking oil. After 3 hours, they finally figured out that my oil pan plug hole was practically stripped smooth. Funny how one of the techs said he noticed that before, but I was never told about it. Also funny that until this oil change did I start leaking oil. Well guess what CCA, you can take your $450 oil pan replacement and shove it. It was fixed with a $3 bolt. And it will work just fine. Oh and that supposed new oil you put in today... It looks recycled. Why would it be dirtier than the oil that dripped on my floor Tuesday morning, when I only had it in my car for 1 hour? read more

I went to O'reily to check my battery. They said it was a bad battery they also checked my alternator and said it was good. I then went to Custom Complete and told them that O'reily checked the battery and alternator and said it was in fact a bad battery. I asked them if I could buy my own battery and bring it in for them to install. The guy said "well we have to do a diagnostic test first to see if it is the battery, so lets do that first and if it is the battery we wont charge you for the diagnostic test" They found out it was the battery, what a surprise. They then wanted to charge me $530 for a battery ($250) and installation ($280). I then asked so can I go buy a battery from O'reily and bring it in. He then said " no we do not install any parts that aren't ours." I found a place to buy a battery and install it for $250 total. Custom Complete then charged me $40 for a diagnostic test that I did not need. They are very scammy and expensive find somewhere else to go! read more

I took my car into the Nifong location for an inspection, and they came back with a laundry list of issues for almost $600. One of the parts that "went bad" had just been replaced by my father, and the rest seemed pretty fishy. When I said I was going to get a second opinion, they told me that they were going to call the Highway Patrol and flag my car for failure to accept their inspection. I called a competitor (Tires Plus, go there if you need anything from now on, they're great) who gave me a price $150 lower. I walked back in, told the Custom Complete staff that, and they immediately dropped the price to the same amount the other garage would've done it for. They are crooks that pray on young college students and poor people that have no other place to go. read more

Our van broke down late Saturday afternoon traveling through Missouri on I-70. I called around to several garages to find one with weekend hours; Custom Complete said they would look at it for us. Kenny from Van's Garage towed us in. Kyle opened the shop promptly at 10 AM the next morning. He got the van in and started looking at it right away. They were not able to replicate our problem, but given what happened on Saturday a failing fuel pump was the consensus likely culprit. Kyle promised to get us back on the road before he closed up for the day. They got us back on the road with time to spare. The facility was clean. All the customer interactions we witnessed over the course of their busy day were professional and courteous. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the inconclusive diagnostic (I may reconsider if the repair holds up). When the job finally was complete, I broke down from the same issue a couple hours away, so I had to spend even more money and 2 extra days than I did the first time by taking it to a second shop. They said she needed struts and mounts on her 2005 Chevy aveo and that it would cost almost $1000! They didn't do my oil change per the mechanic I was charged for. They 'fixed' the line only for it to break again 4days later car still vibrating. They 'fixed' it again car still vibrating nevermind its middle of summer driving children around football games w/ air conditioner. Its November now & my line is still dragging the ground.I need a new air compressor and they refuse to fix their mistake per the owner.The man who promised me that he wasnt going to let me be done this way was fired.Never Ever use this company. One star only because I couldn't give them zero! Our story sounds surprisingly similar to these other stories. Only wish we had looked here first!!! My son took his car in to get a simple oil change. Gets a call that his brakes are bad and need to be replaced. My son told them he didn't have time for that but the mechanic was adamant that this one thing HAD to be fixed and showed him. My son said okay for him to fix that one part. Came back to new front rotors and pads for $330, an $80 brake fluid flush, $15 tire rotation and $186 for a front caliper replacement ( the one thing he said had to be fixed even though he didn't say what it would cost.) Add that to the $70 oil change and taxes and it was a $727 bill. Their prices are high, and that's whatever. I just feel like it's shady business to do work that wasn't originally planned without letting us know that it was going to be so expensive. They took advantage that my son would trust what they were saying was truly needed. read more

SCAM ARTISTS!!! My girlfriend took her car in for an oil leak and left with a new radiator AND the oil leak!!!! When I returned the car to the SAME LOCATION I told them I wanted a second opinion because I think I got screwed. They took a look at the radiator reservoir and the brown liquid with floating leaves in it was all it took them to see before they reassured me I was completely conned and whoever did the job DEFINITELY pulled a fast one on me! I pretended to call my girlfriend to see where it was done and pretended to be shocked that I happened to get a "second opinion" at the same shop the work was done. It took 3 more visits to get the radiator flushed and installed properly. In order to get them to do the job properly I had to chase the owner down on his way to his car because he refused to speak with me!! He told me the car was a " Piece of S**T" and not worth spending a dollar on....except the $300 they convinced my girlfriend to spend to fix a radiator that was working perfectly. When I mentioned my attorney he said he would look at it one time then will no longer work on the car" to which I replied "no you will fix it and you will be lucky not to be sued for the money you Scammed my girlfriend out of." They fixed the radiator install but the oil leak is still there. This owner owns all Custom Completes so DO NOT GO TO ANY OF THEM!!! read more

SCAM! This place is not somewhere I would normally take my car. However, I was on my lunch break and needed a safety inspection. Of course, they failed the inspection and told us our tire rods needed to be replaced. They also told us that our odometer was broken (which it is not!) The odometer is digital, and somehow they reset the trip, which apparently made this guy think it was broken? But back to the tire rods, they were very persistent on fixing/replacing them right then and got very rude when I asked for my keys to leave. The next day, I took my car to A to Z Auto off of College Blvd, and go figure- everything was FINE! The tire rods were perfectly fine, and the odometer was obviously not broken. Car passed inspections with no problems. I will NEVER return to this place. read more
