Every service agent we called with this company on our way from St Louis to Kansas was incredibly honest and kind: we were on the road early with 5 kids trying to make it to a funeral when our car indicated a low tire pressure and continued to drop. It's been years ago, but we had a bad experience with this place. They did a wheel alignment on my sons car. Some time later his car hydroplaned on I-70 and he hit the cable guard in the median. It turns out his tires had worn unevenly due to the poor alignment. My son could have been killed. Perhaps they have improved over the years, but I won't take a chance with them. read more

We have our daughter our car got tires and unlimited alignments through plaza tire on smiley lane in Columbia mo. our daughters car needs an alignment took it to smiley lane and they will not do an alignment on the car we paid unlimited alignments on they said that we needed to purchase 2 new tireswe hold a credit card with this company too....never less to say we will find somewhere else to take vehicles and once credit card is paid we will shut it off too. I have had Plaza work on my vehicles for 30 years now but it won't happen again. Had work done a while back and bought the lifetime free wheel alignment deal. Recently I took it in for a wheel alignment but they refused to do it until I had a whole laundry list of items repaired. I was suspicious as it had been recently checked out by a certified mechanic. So, I took it to another mechanic, in fact the local GMC dealer in Columbia, MO. where 3 mechanics looked at it and said that work did not need to be done at all! Then I waited all day for them to call me I call them so they could tell me they didn't do an alignment cause some other bullshit needed to be fixed too...I will never full with them again and I will never refer them.... read more

I've used the Smiley location several times now. They're always friendly and never try to tack on additional "you need this, jobs". As no place is perfect, the last time I was in - tires mounted/balanced & 4 wheel alignment - they over torqued my lug bolts, enough that I actually broke some socket equipment when I tried to swap out my winter wheels/tires. But I went back to the shop and they loosened the lugs and re-torque to spec without hassle. Great folks to work with. FYI: as others have noted. Suspicious of this I called back an hour later and asked if they could put four new tires on my truck, miraculously every Columbia store could make time to do it! What a joke. Took our van in for new tires and an alignment to the Smiley Lane location in March and was told we needed a new tire rod end on the passenger side. Part was cheap, but labor $277 because it was in a hard-to-reach place. They had to order the part, during which time I acted on a tip and brought it to my usual garage for a second opinion. They had several mechanics take a look and each one said our tie rod end was absolutely fine, no play whatsoever. The manager there went one step further and called Plaza to tell them what they found. They offered a refund (I had gone ahead and paid since tires were done and I was coming back for the rest), but only after being caught, not because it was the right thing. I might have believed it was a mistake if it weren't for the fact that someone warned me that padding the bill was common practice for them. Turned out I didn't need an alignment either, and I wonder if they would have kept that payment as well. The bill went down by $420! We will never go there again. read more

I took my Mercedes CLK350 to get all new tires... all my metal valve stem caps with the Mercedes symbol on them were replaced with cheap plastic caps. Of all the stupid things to steal. Valve caps. How disappointing and unprofessional. If you have a nice car, be careful... read more
