Last time I saw them I paid another 2 grand almost to be promised they'd be done December 12th. Never came back. You'd be better off grabbing the guy at the end of 94. You'll get better quality and integrity. There's a guy in the reviews saying how awesome they were well the reason they were is because they were giving you estimates and as soon as they would've got your money, you would've never heard from Lindsay again or maybe you would have and they would've came and tried to scam you out of some more like they did to me, sad part is they didn't really get down on me. After professional cleanup, the headache of dealing with an insurance adjuster, and the due diligence of meeting with multiple contractors to get bids on putting the basement back together, we went with Rentz Remodeling and Contracting. And wow. The difference between someone like Matt Rentz and other contractors we've dealt with has been night and day. A selfish part of me wants to keep this knowledge to myself, in case we need him again, but he's too good NOT to share. First of all, his bid was extremely fair. Since we were dealing with repairs and not an elective home remodel, we didn't have a ton of money set aside. Just what was left of insurance after a not-great cleanup crew charged us through the nose. Matt detailed out everything he would do to fix the basement, with line items for both labor and cost of materials. There was no guessing or having to ask for more detail; he came prepared with paperwork and was always extremely open about what everything cost. Secondly, he and his crew were incredibly polite and professional. In a pandemic, having new people in your house is always a little anxiety-provoking. The first thing they did when they arrived is put up a plastic zip door between the basement stairs and the rest of the house. And they never came through it into the main house. We worked out a system where he would text if he needed to ask any questions, which meant I could go anywhere in the house without worrying that I couldn't hear them if they needed anything. But for the most part, they came and went according to the needs of the work, and I didn't have to do much of anything at all. Thirdly, Matt and his crew are not just great contractors, but good guys. We had a problem with the hose discharge line for our sump pump freezing over during a cold snap, so my husband had temporarily removed it. Matt noticed and pointed out that he'd seen excess water leak through basement walls before, and texted with me about potential solutions we could try ourselves to keep it functional through the winter. Not an upsell--but just because he had knowledge he thought we could use. I'd recommend Rentz Remodeling and Contracting to anyone. (I've already given his name to a few friends.) And the next time we need anything done around the house, these guys are at the top of my list. A++, 10/10.

WARNING: DO NOT hire First Response Roofing and Construction…read more   We hired them in 2021 to do extensive work on our home, including installing new windows and replacing vinyl siding. Today, my house is in worse shape than before they started their work and I am out over $25,000.   My review is very limited due to the word count limitations by the site.  Here are the key takeaways from our experience with First Response Roofing :  1.  They fraudulently represented that they were licensed to perform the contracted for work on my home when they were not;  2. We didn't discover that they were unlicensed until it became clear that they were not qualified to peform the work they were paid to do.  One example of their lack of qualifications is that during the installation of our new Pella windows, the workers were using such force to place the new windows in, the drywall inside my home cracked.  I then noticed that the windows were installed with no window jams. I asked why they were using such force to cause cracks in the interior of my home and why there were no jams, and was given several, inconsistent explanations that made no sense.  I required that they stop work on the home until the issue could be resolved. 3. As of 9/16/2022, the work remains unfinished.  Since they stopped working, I have learned that they removed structual componenets surrounding a large window in the front of my home when taking out the old window.  They installed the new window without replacing the structual components (headers) - even though THE CONTRACT EXPLCITLY REQUIRED THE INSTALLTION OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS WITH THE NEW WINDOW.  In addition to the incomplete work, I have been advised that if the window isn't reinstalled with the structural compenets, the roof in that area of the home will begin to sag and eventually fall in. 4.   The lien remains today, despite the fact that they know they broke the law in placing the lien (and performing the work on my home while unlicensed).  In fact, THEIR ATTORNEY CALLED ME ABOUT THE OUTSTANDING BALANCE THEY CLAIMED I OWED FOR THE UNCOMPLETED WORK AND WHEN I TOLD HIM THEY WERE UNLICENSED, HE SAID HE WAS UNAWARE AND IF THAT WAS TRUE, I WOULDN'T HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN.  I NEVER HEAD FROM HIM AGAIN!! THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE WORK DONE BY A LICENSED AND QUALIFIED CONTRACTOR IS TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE JOB TO BE REDONE BECAUSE NO OTHER CONTRACT IS WILLING TO WORK FROM WHAT FIRST RESPONSE STARTED BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT THE LIABILITY FROM TFIRST RESPONSE'S WORK.
