I have been looking for shoes for the last year and a half with no luck. I have called or emailed what feels like every store in Edmonton. Yesterday I went to see Tim and he was extreamily knowlageable about both footwear and feet. When I told Tim about the injurys I have he was ensuring and he was very eagger and willing to work around my handy caps. I had a a really hard time looking for a 14 2E extra deep shoe. Incompetent business. I went to this shop on September 4, 2019 to find a pair of therapeutic shoes along with the orthotics themselves. These were to be paid through my insurance, which is where I usually send the request to, but the orthopedist said that they prefer to send it, so I had given the electronic contact information for my insurance to him. On September 18th, I phoned my insurance company to ask why I haven't received a notice for approval. According to them, they hadn't received the request from Custom Orthopedic. I immediately contacted Custom Orthopedic and the orthopedist claimed to have sent the request himself and that the insurance company is mistaken. Once again I sent the contact information directly to the orthopedist in addition to the contact information for the insurance supervisor. The orthopedist said that he would phone back the following Friday. He never did. After phoning Custom Orthopedic on September 21, I learned that the request to the insurance company was sent by fax, not email. This suggests that the fax could've gone anywhere since I hadn't given them the fax number that my insurance uses for this purpose. The person that I had spoken to didn't seem to care about the situation and directed my concern to the owner who would not be available until the following Monday. I've decided that if I have to wait another month for orthotics, I may as well get them through a different orthopedist. read more

Last year I bought a great pair of Cambrians and now the Velcro has become frayed. As well the straps always were a little long, so I called them up and asked about getting new Velcro sewn on. They said no problem $10 per strap and they can also shorten up the straps, trim them after new Velcro is sewn in shortened location. And it would only be ready overnight, so next day. I go there and yup now problem, we'll put new Velcro on the tops strap in properly shortened spot. And well move the bottom one's over and shorten it up. Be two days. And $10 per strap. 4 days later it's finally ready. I get thanked for extra time and he says he took a short cut. I get the original Velcro because it wasn't bad at all, just needed a little TLC. And it simply CUT and sewn back together albeit it is "shortened" . As well hey didn't do anything about the bottom one's, just sewed a through it so if I wanted to cut it off I could. I was dumb struck, he just ruined a good pair of Cambrians. Simply cut the strap and sewed it back. Now if the patch job comes loose I have no straps. Their ruined, every time I put them on or off it catches and I have to move the strap over the doubled up area. All for a low price of just $10. I was so so dumbfounded I just paid the $10 and got out of there, the damage was done and the shoe was ruined. Never ever get any work their, they may take another "short cut" and ruin your shoes. I went to Custom Orthopedic for a second opinion,as I was very disappointed in the service,treatment and assessment I received from a podiatrist's office. From the moment I walked into Custom Orthopedic I was welcomed,listened too and helped. The first thing I noticed was how knowledgeable Tim was about feet! He explained in detail why my feet were the way they were,and what could be done about it to help them. He even gave me an exercise to do,to help my trouble spot. The podiatrists's office spent 5 mins with me,and did not explain a thing,other than to say I needed orthotics Two pairs to be exact! Plus I had to pay him $42.00 to see him! At Custom Orthopedic,the assessment is FREE! I did not need a pair for "every" shoe,as they are interchangeable ,and they are made "in house" in their own lab. Also included is free adjustments if needed. I am so happy I went for a second opinion,and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for great service,customer care and product quality! read more
