I described my vision, and provided multiple options at different price points. When it came to the quote, we worked through different customizations until I found what I wanted at a price within 20% of those online shops you have to build yourself. I agreed immediately. The selection is second to none. I do like when they have coupons but there is usually some type of sale going on and the prices are reasonable. I am the Founder and President of a local non profit organization. I took the appropriate…read morepaperwork into the store March 2025 and was issued a sales tax exemption card from their store. I used it several times with no issues. When I attempted to use it a few days ago they said it expired. I showed the cashier the card which showed 3/2028 expiration. She stated that didn't matter, it was expired and I would have to bring the paperwork in again and get a new card. I asked why that might have happened? She stated, oh it happens all the time, you just have to bring your papers in again and get a new card. Seems easy right? Not for someone who works, has a family, runs a non profit and lives 40 minutes away. Because she stated it happens all the time I asked if I could bring my paperwork and have them make a copy in the event it would happen again? She stated, oh, no we can't have that kind of paperwork in the store, you can just bring it with you each time. Not a good option considering it has the organization EIN and other information I wouldn't want to risk by just having it with me everytime. I pulled up my sales tax exemption certificate on the govt website at which point she waved her hand and said, no you have to bring it in, we don't look at copies of things. I explained I was merely showing her I had just obtained the certificate in March 2025 and suddenly July of 2025 Hobby Lobby says it's expired. She then said, you have to have an ST-105...um incorrect. I told her it's an NP-1 form. She argued with me saying corporate told them they have to have an ST-105. I told her that you can't even apply for one of those anymore because the government changed that in 2023 and it's now an NP1 form. She shook her head and waved her hand around, stating nope we can only take the ST105. I pulled up IN.gov and showed her that it's not even possible for me to apply for an ST105 and again she stated, that doesn't mean anything. I asked to speak to a manager to clear things up and she said, he's going to tell you the same thing. There's nothing we can do. I insisted I wanted to speak with him for clarification. When he came to the register the cashier proceeded to talk condescendingly and tell HIM that there was nothing he could do. I explained to him everything I had explained to her including the NP1 form and showed him the government site. He told me he would have to call the corporate tax department, at which point the cashier told him, they're going to tell you the same thing, it's their rule so he did not attempt to even call them on my behalf. I asked for the corporate number and the manager gave that to me and I left. I called the corporate office and left a message because it was after hours. I called my accountant, who confirmed that the ST105 is obsolete. The next day I called the Department of revenue who also told me that the ST105 is no longer the form retailers should be requesting. The Department of revenue gave me the link where I could print off the bulletin from the IRS to take in and show them. The next day I got a call from the corporate office and I explain the situation and they also stated they had no idea why the store would be telling people they needed the ST105 because in fact it is the NP1 form. It was a huge inconvenience, a waste of a lot of my time and fuel to rectify this and I certainly did not appreciate the way that the cashier acted rudely and continued to interrupt myself and the manager along with the waving of her hand and shaking of her head as if she knew everything and was not receptive to what I was explaining. When I went to the store a few days later and showed them the bulletin print off from the Department of revenue the manager was quick to issue a new card and asked if he could make a copy of my NP1 form, which just a few days prior the cashier had stated they can't make copies of any of that paperwork to have in their store.

Not the biggest location, but they neatly pack quite a bit of goodies in to the space. I've always had positive experiences with their employees. Whether I go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby typically depends on which has what I want on sale. This week, it was Michael's. But even better, I was offered the option of doing site to store and saving an additional 20%. So I paid for everything online and had an email in 30 minutes letting me know my order was ready for pickup. This not only saved me time but also money, with no impulse purchases!
