I found this Michaels to be arranged very similar to the one in Castleton, so I assume this is the standard layout for most of the franchises. (I think the one on the south side is a little different, but similar.) So, I was able to find my way around the store to the areas of interest quickly. I was also pleased that this location had lots of staff working the floor during my visit, so if I had any questions, there were plenty of people to ask. The staff here wasn't as outwardly friendly as the Castleton location, but there wasn't anything negative in my visit. The store was clean, orderly, and well stocked...pretty much what you would want from a hobby and craft store. Review #3682

Thanks Michael's for having the branch and Menards for the unfinished wooden base.

Michael's is everything crafty. Regardless of your hobby or project Michael's will most likely have what you need...unless their sold out of a sale item. From scrapbooking, arts and crafts, woodworking, custom framing, shadow boxes, Schleich tigers, lions and bobcats, jewelry design, floral arrangements, and home decor it's here plus more. You'll find lots of items for the DIY weddings, baby showers and parties. Sign up for their rewards program and receive coupons plus you can return items using your purchase history. Customer service can be hard to find except at the registers. We searched the store to find one guy with 4 customers surrounding him. He was pleasant and helped all of us. Unfortunately, the sale item we came for was sold out in Avon, Greenwood, Westfield and Castleton. Lastly, before checkout bring up Michael's app and pull up the discount coupons. There are always coupons at different percentages off.

ArtMix is an Indianapolis-based non-profit organization that has been in existence since I was a kid in school, though it began life as Very Special Arts. They have four core programs, a variety of special projects, and quite a few opportunities to support them ranging from visiting their art gallery to joining them for First Fridays and others. As they note on their website, in the early days of public education for those with disabilities it was uncommon for us to be integrated into regular classrooms. An organization like this was used to fill in that gap. While I was often discouraged from creativity, this was an organization that encouraged it. The fact that I'm now a published writer, film critic, producer, and occasional actor is proof positive of how positive their influence can be. It should be noted that shopping in their gallery is by appointment only. Like a lot of non-profits, they have a small staff. The core programs for ArtMix include urban artisans, entrepreneur artisans, community classes, and artists-in-residence. In terms of accessibility, despite being in a challenging building they do well with ramps at the back entrance (and free parking in the back lot). The building itself is locked - there's a call box that you'll use (again, they request appointments). First Friday events are cool, the gallery is wonderful (and does support artists with disabilities. Yay.). I'm very pleased with this organization. It's only gotten better over the years. While I'm no longer that student sitting in a classroom, ArtMix reaches out even more these days and is truly a community organization. If you've never checked them out, I definitely recommend it.

Upon trying out a few different chairs and attempting to narrow down what I wanted. I was approached and notified the store was closing in 2 minutes and asked if I needed help. How about this? A. fix your times to align with 98% of similar chain stores and what your google listing shows. B. ask me if I need assistance when I enter your store, instead of being complete ghosts and approaching me ONLY to notify me you guys are closing in 2 minutes... How these places are still in business these days is already a stretch of the imagination. Add in poor customer service and terrible hours, they're just compiling the problem. I have always preferred Office Depot to keep my home office well stocked. I entered the store and found clear labels of what each aisle contained which brought me to the exact type of item I was looking for. This was much easier than shopping with their office supplies competitors where many aisles have no labels forcing you to wander around looking. I was looking for desk organization items such as in & out baskets, post it note holders, pencil holders, that type of thing. They had a wide variety of styles and prices to choose from. I didn't need the whole set just one specific item and narrowed it down to two that I wanted. This was good to have a choice and I opted for the more expensive one because it was more sturdy. Too many times I have shopped at a competitor only to walk out empty handed because they didn't have want I wanted. And I don't like for an employee to tell me I can order one online. If you are going to have a brick and mortar store then please stock it because I want what I want when I want it and don't want to wait. Office Depot "gets it" and does exactly that.

When my mother was seriously ill, this Target became a go-to stress reliever when I'd visit her at Hendricks Regional in Danville. It was big enough here that I could get lost. It was friendly enough here that I could get connected. It was also well-stocked enough that I could easily get a few needed things at a time in life when I needed quick and convenient. Despite living very close to the Glendale Target, I frequented this one a lot. Flash forward to today. My father recently passed away and I'm spending a lot of time in nearby Putnam County. Yesterday, in particular, was a bit stressful as I began clearing out some more personal items and couldn't quite get through the emotions to clear my father's clothing. I decided to stop in Target for some friendly faces, stress relief, and a few items I knew I needed. First off, this is a Target SuperCenter. I sometimes forget that Glendale, while being large, is not a SuperCenter in anyway. This location has, I believe, three entrances. All entrances offer accessible parking, automatic doors, and easy accessibility. I do wish Target had some smaller carts (maneuvering large carts from a wheelchair is a hassle), but that's a minor deficiency. Too many people think the automatic carts are for wheelchair users - they're not. They're great for people who have difficulty walking long distances, however, for someone who stays in a wheelchair they're impractical. While I can get a little frustrated at Glendale for items they don't have, this Target tends to have them. There are exceptions - I was dismayed by the small quantity of V8 energy availability here and it's WAY less than Glendale. There were other food items where I'd look at them and think "That's all you have?" On the other hand, this Target is cleaner. It's better organized. The employees are friendlier (though still have a tendency to block aisles when stocking and be clueless when a wheelchair user comes by trying to get through. Here's your clue - move your cart.). I only needed a handful of items. I was able to find them, generally, quite easily. Employees were friendly. I used self-checkout - this is rare for me, but given my small order it worked well. The employee supervising it wasn't particularly interactive, however, it was fine. I've never used this store's online order or drive-up pick-up options. So, I can't give an opinion there. However, I was pleased with my in-store experience after a stressful day clearing out my father's home.

I contacted a service. Member asked him if they could get a hold of the manager so we could open another line to Lady goes well. We're short staffed so I go stand in line with my six items cause I didn't have my card on me then the lady walks up and says hey you can go down to customer service. Our manager said he'll help you out there cool I walk down to customer service and stay there for another 10 minutes waiting for somebody to show up at this time. I've done watched 20 employees walk by a lady comes out from the side and says can I help you and I'm like with a lady down to self check messaged and said to come down here that the manager would help us here comes the manager right in and right by us so commence to set my stuff down she said we're short staffed I said do you have managers in the store? She said there was three of them. I don't know about you. Last time. I worked in retail managers were cross trained to run cash registers so when I said where the manager go, he went outside to help take care of a curbside order and I asked for what about the other 20 employees that walked by to the lounge they're all stalkers then a manager came up because I was asking for the main store manager's name and number this guy wanted to ramble on thinking I wanted her personal number and I just said I wanted the the best line to reach her on. I wasn't expecting your private number then he commences to hand me a survey. I told him I didn't need that it was past a survey. He fumbled got a little frustrated, cause I was being quite upfront with him that I don't want to hear anything you had to say I just want the name of the store manager and phone number. I don't know about 7 o'clock and only one register open with 9 to 10 people standing in the line somebody slipping just a bad surface experience all around and especially when you talk to people and all they can do is to stutter and say we're short staffed sorry if there's managers there you're not short staffed they need to grab a drawer and get online and cut the line down or instead of having 12 self checkouts card only maybe make some cash

For instance my primary reason for shopping here are for Apple devices charging cables. These are things kid easily break by misuse. Five Below's cables are of decent quality that last many months for me, even a year, yet low in cost that I don't mind buying more when my grandchildren break them after weeks of use. Headphones are another quality item here that kids can damage the wires to the point they look ok but they stop working. Five Below has a wide variety of headphone styles. The granddaughter loves them especially anything with unicorns or cat ears. So this year for Christmas I found some other items they loved. Posters, magnets, LED lights, LED hand soap dispenser (yeah really) and more. There was the longest line I've ever seen there (the week before Christmas) but Five Below stepped up and had 4 cashiers (the norm is one) and checking out went fast.

Hey Friends! So,…read moreyesterday I got some long overdue time to myself and decided to venture out into the world to check out what was new and different. Being naturally curious with a need to save money on some basic necessities as many of us do these days, I ended up at a brand new discount store called $5 Below in Plainfield, Indiana. In my opinion the name implies that all their merchandise is $5 or less. Or I guess one could even assume that the name may simply be suggesting that their prices are $5 less the the price of their competition. I try to be practical so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. They sell the same types of things you would normally find at at almost any ' five and dime' including, seasonal items, toys, make up and beauty, arts and crafts, house and home, cleaning supplies, candy, t-shirts, you get the idea. After doing the initial browsing lap I was excited to see they even had sage, incense and burners, AND quite the selection I might add. AND THEN I SAW WHAT THEY WANTED. Basically EVERYTHING was $5! For example, the incense burners, the kind you can pick up for a buck or two someplace else, $5. The Clorox Spray Cleaner that I KNOW they sell just a couple doors down at a similar store that it probably wouldn't be very nice to mention, the price for the same brand and size of cleaner for just over a dollar? $5. The beauty blending sponges were another disappointment. It didn't' matter if you bought the assorted variety, or opted for the single version they were both each $5. I gotta tell you, it kind of Chaps my ass that the people in charge think the typical consumer is not intelligent enough to 'comparison shop'. It's like their factoring in for inflation to pad their bottom line while deceiving the paying consumer into believing that we're getting such a good deal because it is a discount store after all, that we'll just throw that money down, which when you think about it this logic isn't fair. Most of us are shopping at discount stores because we can no longer afford not to. Hey dudes, we KNOW what we are used to paying for what we buy. Never underestimate the intelligence of your consumer, it's just bad business and a recipe for failure once we're onto you. Which now a LOT of us ARE! In my personal opinion this is NOT my idea of 'smart saving'. But you be the judge and please let me know if you feel the same way, or put me in check if you disagree. I'd love to know your thoughts. I'm NOT TELLING YOU NOT TO SHOP HERE. Only go with the power of the information of being a well informed customer. Until next time, Fea B.
