Folonomo donates all its profits to charity, but this ain't no sausage sizzle. No sir, this is a proper sit down meal with flowers on the table that you could take your mother to. The menu is small with only a handful of entrees and a handful of mains but everything sounds delicious enough to keep you asking the waiter for just one more minute. The food is share-plate friendly and leans towards the 'healthy' path with dishes featuring cauliflower rice and risotto made from sunflower kernels. But healthy doesn't mean bland - their octopus is super tender with a morish smoky char and the poached chicken is succulent and juicy with just the right amount of harissa to keep your fork going back for more, even when you start using up dessert stomach space. It's a wonderful feeling rolling out a restaurant having eaten too much and not feeling guilty about it. After all, it's all for charity.

The inside decor is nice from what I could tell (it's really dark in there at night!). The bathrooms are clean. This place wasn't particularly memorable. This was basically the chicken schnitzel which is the special the day before..hmmm Ordered a cider and waited for the food and watched the game. The buzzer went off within minutes and the plate was huge. There was salad, a good amount of chips and a huge heart shaped chicken parmigian with cheese and bacon on top. You can top it off with gravy at the cutlery station. The meat was a bit tough to cut but overall pretty tasty. Was stuffed afterwards. Cheap food, basketball and cider, can't really go wrong with that combination!

Wife had the macadamia crusted fish sandwich which was "decent enough" but the fries which were ordinary were the "best part" This place was empty, soulless, without personality and it was painfully clear it was surviving on location alone. I'm sure during the summer it's hopping but getting an eye roll when asking for water at 2PM on a Friday durring the off season just is not it. Lots of staff standing around on their phones. Which makes sense because it was pretty empty. Which makes it all the worse that a manager and some vendor or customer were standing 10 feet from us arguing about something. Others also got the jerk chicken with different sides. The jerk chicken did not have much kick to it which was disappointing, and the portion size and presentation seemed to vary to my friends. On to the slaw, which was not really a slaw at all, big leaves of kale (my least favourite green - google 'kale and coconut oil meme'), on a large bed of acidic, vinegary capers and cornichons - not my idea of a nice cabbage shredded 'slaw. The beer battered chips were rejected as way too salty by everyone, including the kids which love salt usually, so they were sent back for replacement. Which left the kid chicken tenders, which were fine if you like hot 'n' spicy (me = yes, kids = so no). I mentioned that when returning the chips and was advised they use the same seasoned coating as the chicken in the burgers, so yea, kids [spicy] tenders. The service was great. Am hoping I was just unlucky on the night with the food choices made. Also hoping I'm wrong in wondering if the Chicken & Son crew are trying too hard with the hipster menu or are simply not executing properly in the kitchen, and resulting in letting down what is actually a half decent pub.
