I usually do an easy all over color and it comes out fine. I decided I wanted to lighten my hair and saw a "highlighter for dark hair" and tried it out. Well, HOT ROOTS is an understatement as to what my hair looked like when I was done with it. I was at a loss. Didn't know what to do, had never experienced this before and felt hopeless. I had a recent nightmare happen at a DIFFERENT salon and was wary of going anywhere but I needed help. I work at a place where I have to be fashionably correct. So, I googled "best hairdresser in AZ" and the list I opened had Bangz at the very top! So I called and spoke to Jamie. She heard me out, understood my dilemma and found a miraculous way to squeeze me in SAME DAY!!! She worked on my hair for hours, in between her pre-scheduled clients, and not just "made it look okay" but fixed my roots, the rest of my hair (including a trim and giving me a style to work with now) and had my hair looking and feeling absolutely amazing! I am astonished at the kindness of Jamie, first and foremost. To do everything she could to help me, a new client, never even been there before. Not berating me for what I had done and spending the time to teach me about what I did wrong, what I can do in the future, showing me how to style my hair etc.. Secondly, I am astounded at her talent and knowledge and demeanor about the entire art of dressing hair. In one session she turned my ORANGE roots to a nice deep red color and pulled through some highlights (properly) to even out the tone with the rest of my deep red hair and through a simple trim, without taking much hair off at all, reshaped and styled my hair, layers, and bangs. She took her time, she showed me what to do, explaining things along the way, she was honestly THEE best hairdresser I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I may not have the money to go back all the time, but you can bet your ass I will always see her before anyone else (including myself) !!!! I cannot thank her enough! On arrival, my hairstylist was running late, which was fine because I knew I wanted to be here because of the recommendation. She greeted me happily. The front hostess was also very friendly. Everything fell apart once I was in the chair. It began by her picking at my hair and basically telling me it looked terrible. On several occasions the words "so it at least looks pretty" came up. As if my hair looks terrible. She then brought over her manager because they were unsure of what to do with my hair and were not "comfortable" bleaching my hair in fear of "breakage". They both picked at my hair as if it was diseased. And I will assure you, it is not. I take pride in myself and hair. They then took pictures of my "terrible" hair and then sent them to the owner asking her "opinion". They then came back and told me about something I would have to sign in case they had to CUT MY HAIR OFF after. My hair is no where near that. Sure it has had some heat on it, and had some color, but no where near that. At my age I am well aware of what my hair can take. The manager kept picking up my hair and dropping it and telling the hairstylist "I wouldn't do it if I were you," with this look of disgust. I have never been more humiliated at a salon. I said then what can you do for me. They told me there was nothing they could do for me. On their social media and individual pages they all claim what experts they are. They share pictures of women with perfect hair the before and after. But what about women who come in wanting a change and needing a change that don't have a "blank canvas" as the hairstylist mentioned she wanted? After the disgusting looks at my hair and sitting there for 45 min I finally told them thank you for their time and walked out. If you are looking for a salon to help you with your hair, THIS IS NOT IT. They are not confident in skill and make you sign a waiver. Not to mention, I was ready to shell out the 325.00 they quoted me to even do my hair and STILL they were going to have me sign a waiver. I have NEVER in all my years been told it is impossible to do my hair, and for a salon that charges so much, and has such a great reputation I was beyond disappointed. Do not come here if you have used heat on your hair, have any fly aways that may look like "damage". Unless you want to be made to feel like I do. Trash.

I would absolutely go back to her for styling again. Unfortunately, the overall experience in the salon was overshadowed by something pretty unpleasant. There was a small dog in the salon that had apparently peed on the couch in the waiting area earlier in the day. No one mentioned this when I arrived, and I ended up sitting on that couch for about 30 minutes. When I later brought it up, the dog's owner mentioned that her husband had cleaned the spot with Lysol earlier in the day. However, my pants still smelled like pee afterward, which was really uncomfortable and embarrassing. The apology also felt pretty insincere, which made the situation even more frustrating. I completely understand that accidents can happen with pets, but I do think it's the owner's responsibility to make sure guests are aware of something like that -- or to make sure the area is fully cleaned or blocked off before someone sits there. It would have been very easy to simply warn me. Lena was fantastic and did a beautiful job with my blowout! I do hope the salon handles situations with the dog more responsibly in the future.
