Staff are polite, friendly and very chatty which makes for a relaxed and happy atmosphere. Not one in which you are sitting and secretly wishing they would cut your hair faster so you could bolt out of the door and stop nattering on about your summer holidays. While, my favourite hairdressers of all time remains Hair Design (a bit more of a walk away), I reckon Cortex will please the masses. It is a small, local hair dressers which is friendly and often fairly quiet so you don't always need to have made an appointment earlier (this suits me, due to my highly indecisive nature). The girls in here are really nice and if you want some advice on what they'd recommend they'll happily provide a few suggestions. I've always had a decent cut out of here and the prices are very reasonable. Though, I've never had my hair dyed in here, so I'm not sure what that aspect of the business is like. They also offer spray tans for only £10 a pop. Something I've yet to try in here but I've heard some very good reviews of it. So, may well take up this great deal once the summer starts to show itself.

I had previously had Kerastraight treatment 4 months before in a Clydebank salon which proved to be disastrous and was more than a little worried about finding one that could actually provide what it advertised. Sweeney Todd's is a friendly salon with 3 stylists and has a lovely atmosphere. There's handy parking outside and nearby. If you are looking for a good hairdresser give it a try.

Either I got completely robbed, or that's just the price of a haircut nowadays. I'm notoriously tight-fisted anyway. Anyway, I told the hairdresser I wanted some highlights a couple of shades lighter than my natural colour. You will see from my photo that my hair is very dark brown. So how I came out of that salon a blonde I do not know. To be fair, I did quite like it. I've always harboured a secret desire to be a brash platinum blonde. The highlights looked quite classy and the tone was flattering, but all the same, it wasn't what I had asked for.

But don't let this fool you - it's got bags of character and charm. This has got to be primarily because of the really friendly, chatty and all together sweet staff. Most importantly, they LISTEN to what you're after and then provide information and suggestions based on your hair type and the reality of haircuts with it. I especially appreciate this due to my naturally curly and frizz prone hair. Instead of desperately wanting to give me a cut which would require constant straightening (and some hairdressers are determined to do this and make me 'look nice'); they had a few suggestions on how to best manage then frizzy mane. Excellent. Lastly, all of this is available for a reasonable cost and is just a little wander from my front door. Oh, yeah that's more like it.

It has a tiny royal blue exterior with regal looking gold lettering. This creates a rich, luxurious and welcoming feel, which intends into the clean, comfortable interior. There's a few rows of swivel chairs lined up along the two vertical walls with the usual hairdressing paraphernalia visible. The homey, comfortable atmosphere is greatly enhanced by the pleasant, friendly and extremely chatty staff. Furthermore, they provide a good, quick service at a decent price. Really nice little find which is worth a wee walk off of Clarkston Road.
