Friday Night 7:30pm Laura Benanti…read more One woman show "Nobody Cares" Date night and this was my choice. I originally wanted to see BOCKY but the play was over. So as I was looking at other shows and miss thang Benanti was damn near sold out ! I was like who is this lady ? So, I bought 2 aisle seat tickets on the mezzanine level. Now , let's get into these seats. Mezzanine is a great place to sit in the Pearl Theater. You can see from every angle as long as there isn't a tall person in front of you. What I don't understand about the theaters is LEG ROOM. If a show is over 30 min with no intermission , the audience is slowly dying. We are cramped and hoping that the alcohol will soothe the pain. Most of the theater audience is elderly. I'm not sure what center stage can do about it but no intermission is pushing it. What else ? The bathrooms were clean Drinks and snacks over priced. Top me off if the cheap wine is $14 . Parking ? Surprisingly reasonable. The parking garage was $8 Street parking was probably cheaper than that if you could get it. Laura Benanti was really funny and sang like a cathedral choir angel. I'm glad I chose her show $70 a ticket Picked up tickets from the front desk. I got invited by a friend to come see her daughter in the Black Nativity. I was super excited and…read moreinvited other friends to join me. This play was good community theater. The songs got me right into the Christmas spirit and gave me that old time black church gospel vibe. The first half was dedicated to the nativity that we're all familiar with. The Arena Players had their own special twist on the story, but the end result was the same" unto us a child is born. Jesus Christ, Savior of the world. The 2nd half takes you to church with testimonies followed by some good ole gospel music. They had you singing along, clapping your hands, and tapping your feet. They took us to church. The only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because the audio was none existent. No one was one had a mic on, and had I not been sitting in the front row it would have been extremely hard to hear them. It's a real shame because their voices were beautiful. My friends who have seen other production agreed with me, but said the plays they've seen there that they did have mics on. Perhaps they had some technical difficulties. I hope they fix that before their next production in January. They also have a Youth Theater program for ages 4.5 to 18. This 1 (wo)man play was highly entertaining and inspiring. It's a story of self-discovery at a time when racial tension & ignorance were at an all time high. We sat front and center but there is no bad seat in the house. Everyman Theatre has been delivering high quality performances over 30 seasons. They have a professional cadre of actors who perform on a regular basis throughout the season. Additionally, community access & engagement are also cornerstones of this theatre. Each play has "pay what you choose" tickets available so finances won't be a problem. Sad, I'm really late to the party. However, Go! Check out a play, take a class, become a sponsor, and donate!!! We started throwing in leagues here at end of 2022 and have been enjoying it since. There's bowling football (kinda), darts, and occasionally corn hole. In the summer, there's food trucks and a restaurant has opened at the end of the parking lot. The drink variety is pretty great with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with snacks. You get coaching when you go in for a group to help you learn how to throw and get to play a variety of games. If you have enough time, you can try throwing the big axe. What I like most about Urban is that the employees are super welcoming and the axe community is too if you decide to join a league. You can learn to tweak your throw from a variety of different people and hone in on your technique. You don't feel bad when you're first not great at throwing since so many people want to help. There are various groups that host fundraising events and charities that collaborate like BARCS and Baltimore Humane Society. Give Urban a try!

This experience was such a pleasure from start to finish. It was a BYOB event although the owner did supply Sangria, chips and dip and cake. Oh what a treat. I was a little disappointed in knowing that the class was open to 50 people and half of them did not show. They missed a good time. I would be sure to return to this business. Communication with her was straightforward and simple, and she took our basic playlists for different parts of the night and blended them to reflect our style and set the appropriate mood. She executed the music cues during our outdoor ceremony perfectly which we believe helped to elevate the whole experience. But the star of our experience with her was an amazingly packed and vibrant dance floor for the whole time. We got so many compliments on the music and everyone from our friends to coworkers and older relatives had a great time. One of our requests was to play a ton of Chappell Roan and Amy delivered, including a (potentially original?) dance mix of Pink Pony Club that was honestly transcendent. She even played a special song for a plushie toss (it's a story) without our prompting. Around since 1916, the Vagabond Players put on a variety of old standby's in a relatively small, old style, one-room theatre. A date and I went there on Saturday night, following a nice dinner at the excellent Black Olive restaurant around the corner, to see a production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" at 8 pm. A play in three acts, interupted by 2 10-minute breaks, the show let out at around 10:45pm, with plenty of time to make it out of the area before the locals become too drunk. The production itself was excellent. The acting was very good, with only one or two fumbles that were caught and easily remedied without greater notice. The cast enjoyed their craft and the audience enjoyed the play. I will most certainly be back, perhaps for a performance of "Frost/Nixon" to run later on this year.

He…read morehandled A LOT throughout the day - the music for the ceremony in one ballroom, and then the music for the reception in another, as well as running the photo booth that we rented from the company (at a great price!) We met him over a year before our wedding at a party expo (see, those things really do come in handy sometimes!) and we clicked immediately. Now that the party is over, my husband and I agree that hiring Neil was absolutely the right move! One of the things that sets Golden apart from other companies is that they make the party about you. A lot of DJ's or bands are really flashy, over the top, in your face - - people end up watching them instead of watching the bride and groom. We're far from narcissists, but we also wanted to keep the focus on why we were all there. Neil excelled at this, knowing the right moments to step in, funny little things to say, and he worked the mic like the pro that he is. He was one of the few DJ's that I know who told us to request as many songs as we wanted and he knew what to pick and choose while reading the dance floor. He also has a really great set up for the introductions to the reception which include a video or audio message from the bride and groom before they walk out to their music of choice. People literally keep talking to us about how cool that was, and it added a really special memory to starting the reception. If you are looking for a DJ for your event, we would hands down recommend Golden Productions. Neil is a pro, knows the industry well (and has for a very long time) and can run a party!
