Music Go Round has an excellent of pre-owned instruments and gear. I play the guitar and drums and found that the selection in both categories was much better than average. They have a really nice layout of drums and guitars to tryout. The staff are more attentive here than any big chain store. They repair, provide lessons for the most popular instruments, carry new gear, buy used instruments, and sell pre-owned instruments. If you live in or near the Baltimore county area this store is worth checking out. I'm so glad I live near this Music Go Round. read more

I would not recommend going to this store. I've been there three times now, and two of those have been bad experiences. For context, I am not a great guitarist, but I have been playing for around 30 years, and I regularly purchase guitar equipment. In the past two years, I have bought 4 electric guitars, 1 acoustic guitar, three amps, and 2 pedals from local shops. In short, I know most of the guitar stores here in town and have negotiated at all of them. This store is my least favorite in the entire Baltimore area. First, though, the positive. Overall, this shop has a nice collection of instruments. I'm going to focus on guitars and basses, but they also have a good range of brass and woodwinds and percussion. In terms of guitars, they have a good collection in all price ranges. In addition, their guitars tend to be set up nicely. Finally, their prices tend to be pretty good. I've read other people complain, but I think most of their listed prices are average to good. Because of these things, I thought this was going to be one of my favorite places to buy equipment. I was quite wrong. In fact, I won't ever be shopping there again. The problem is that the staff are a@#holes. There's not really another way to say it. There's one guy with long blond hair that pretty friendly and nice. Otherwise, the staff here are the literal worst. The first a@*hole is the manager. I stopped by with an original 1st run 1987 Ibanez Jem. The guitar has been repainted, and the bridge had been replaced. Obviously, this isn't a collection-level guitar, but a@*hole offered me $800 and told me that I should consider selling it for parts. The guitar is in nearly perfect condition and plays great. For context, I sold the guitar last month for $2700. However, it wasn't just the low-ball offer. It was his entire attitude. He came in talking about how he has a 1987 Jem (probably a lie) and how that may be worth $2000. He pretended to know everything about Jems and treated me like an noob. I chose to think he was just an idiot rather than dishonest, so I just left. Today, I purchased a Reverend guitar from this shop. Today is black Friday, so they had "deals" on quite a few guitars. They had a guitar that had been sitting on the shelf for over a year for $850. I asked them if they would take $800, which I don't think is an unreasonable offer. Chris (one of the a$%holes there) said that it was marked down to $850 already. I told him that I had been there about a year ago and that the original price had been $850. It was marked $899 online but $850 in the store. He told me that I was a liar, which I am not. When I told him he was wrong, he called me a liar again. So I told him that he could let the guitar sit there for another year. Ironically, as I was leaving, the nice, long-haired blond worker realized that the price on the guitar was actually wrong, and that it should have been $799.99. I bought the guitar because I thought it was worth $800, and I liked the guitar. I'm filled with regret, though, because that a#$hole called me a liar when the guitar was incorrectly marked then as before. I will never set foot in this sh#tshow of a store again. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid it as well. If you want to get angry, this is a great shop to go to. If you would like a good experience, go somewhere else. read more

What a nice store of lightly used equipment. Unlike some used stores, Music Go Round polishes up and makes the equipment clean and assures it's in great working condition. The staff was super friendly and patient. There's a large selection of different instruments so whatever you need, they should have. It's located in a nice little shopping center on York road between a Jimmy Johns and Papa Johns. If you're in the market for something new, check them out and see how much money you could save by getting it lightly used. They'll buy your used equipment so you can get something else as well. Very excellent store. I have found and purchased several used guitars here at very reasonable prices, nicely set up and no hassles. I find no pushy sales people and nobody bothering me while try the instruments out. I spoke to them about trading in stuff and I will be looking into that in the near future. I refuse to let all the positive experiences completely tank this, but it's come pretty close. I sent an email inquiring if there was wiggle room on a particular amp. (DRRI @ $800; MGR in Cary, NC has one @ $700. Just one example of price being too high.). I explained that I was interested, and asking because it was an amp that I had previously purchased in March of 2019, then traded back in towards another amp in March of 2020. I got a response from Nathaniel, which surprised me, to the point that I reiterated the history, specific to this amplifier (serial # specific). I then sent one more email which read: "6.25% off is the best?" (They gave me $450 towards the Princeton I purchased 10 months ago.) Gary intervened: "Yes, we can sell it to you for $750 Gary Manager" I wasn't looking for a free amp, Gary. I certainly wasn't trying to harass you with such an obnoxious string of emails (it was 3). I liked Music Go Round because they're good guys, and I've got years of history there. Not anymore. 6.25% and attitude. I can buy an overpriced DLLR from an irritable guy at GC. read more

Nice people, problem is that the big "Mega Stores" have left them with crappy inventory. The inventory they do have is in great condition. They have a lot of second/third/four hand gear that probably needs thrown away to make room for new gear. They do not have top of the line equipment, mostly mid range and below gear. I think of this place as the Pawn Shop of musical gear. If you need a cheap instrument, this could be your lucky day. read more

Nowadays this place has a very expansive guitar inventory. A far cry from the times back in the early 2000s when I used to come in here and see only like 4 guitars on the wall and a billion brass instruments. But its not just the quantity: its the quality. Solid guitars from Ibanez, Fender and even boutique makers like Wayne Charvel will pop up in here now. And for prices that could be described as both reasonable and competitive. The setups on everything too are outstanding. I haven't seen such care in years regarding this matter at a guitar store. Amps also seem to be of high quality, excellently displayed, with easy access to guitar chords. The one's I've plugged into all seem to work and sound well. You need to seriously consider this place now as an option if you're looking for a used guitar you like. Chances are, this place will deliver. read more

In a time where most people just buy stuff online, or if they do go to a music store, it's Guitar Center, it's important to consider the advantages of your other options. Living in Maryland my entire life and being a guitar player for over half of that time, I have found Music-Go-Round to be a great place for musicians of all ages and skill levels to find a fantastic selection of gear, friendly and helpful staff who don't pressure you into buying things, and competitive prices. I have to drive about 45 minutes to go to MGR, but I make that trek several times a year and I really believe it it worth it. read more

I put and instrument on lay away years ago with their music store.It sounded amazing and the price was good. When the final day came to pick it up it fell on a the day before pay day.I asked them as a courtesy to extend my lay way on day. They told me they would.When the next day came.When I call and told them Iwas going to pick it up.They told me they had sold it.They said that I had done this before(that Iwas late)which was not true.The person. Told me he would take care of it just 180ed on me.They told they had sold it to some one else. When I went on ebay I found out they put it on ebay because they were selling it to me at a much lower price that what it was going for on the internet.The Manager called and offered my money which accepted. THEY HOWEVER WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS .They are dishonest...I lost a beautiful instrument that I loved because they were greedy and unethical. I have been coming here since I was in middle school and not much has changed. It has tons of middle to low end used equipment and they usually have a gibson or a prs hanging behind the register. It's a good place to sell your equipment and they will tell you if you're better of selling it on e-bay. The staff here was incredibly nice as well as knowledgable. We came in with my seven year old daughter after she had been given a guitar for her birthday. The guitar needed new strings and we came in on a Sunday, minutes before closing after misreading their hours. They were patient and helped us find everything we needed without rushing us. I keep getting emails to review them, so here it goes. I bought a Carvin DC125 there a few years back. The price was fair market value, and it looked like it was in good condition. When I got it home I found different. Now to be fair, I never called the store to complain. But being that I live over an hour away I was not about to make another trip up there. The issues with the guitar? The "bullet" truss rod nut was rusty and 100% stripped. So either they never looked or conveniently didn't mention. The bridge saddle height allen screws were all warped and and not accessible with the allen key. Granted the guitar was over 20 years old, but the techs should have noticed this being that the guitar is very basic and not much to test. Luckily I am a hobbyist tech and bought a Fender Bullet nut and cut it down to fit the Carvin truss cavity and I got a steal of a deal on the same bridge off Ebay and swapped out the bridge saddles. On a positive note I will say the staff was very friendly. read more
