Local, great staff. Trade in prices are ok, they do pretty well with sell prices and better service than a lot of places.

Not a lot of what I look for. Mostly lower end guitars and prices a bit higher than other sellers.

That's OK, cuz I've mastered Google. I really only like to go in there to hear the 13 year olds with ironic hair wanking on the test guitars at full volume to the latest hot tune by [insert insipid pop artist's name here]. There was a time when I had to have the latest synthesizer out, I subscribed to Keyboard Magazine, I could tell you the difference between an LFO and a MIDI patch. Nowadays, I just enjoy all the new technology. Here you can sample a nice selection of keyboards and no one will bug you. Don't touch my Moog! Most of the staff are nice and try to answer your questions...it's not easy trying to pretend you're interested in a customer's new band.

Today I returned to sell some stuff back to GC. I got a fair price for what I had, I'm putting that money towards my GC CC bill, haha. I really appreciate the staff there, the same great salesperson helped me with all 3 transactions. (Thank you again x3, you rock!!) Thanks again Towson GC

So I've been going to MusicLand since I was a kid. That's the local music shop and as a kid I loved…read moregoing there, it was like a candy store to me. Moved away for college but now I'm back in my hometown and love to support local business. I recently went in to get my bow repaired and new strings for my violin. The repair guys (I believe his name was Gary) in the back were awesome and very kind. But the employees on the floor... 1. I've never been greeted upon entry the past couple times I've gone. 2. It felt like I was bothering them to ask for strings or to be rung up. They had an air of annoyance that I interrupted their conversation behind the counter. I chalked it up to maybe they were having a bad day. Yesterday I went in, I know exactly what I want. I want a coil instrument cable. The employee's first response was "you know those are super expensive" Which yeah... I do know. Don't look at me like I'm crazy for knowing I want a very specific item. For frame of reference a top shelf coil cable averages at $60.00 USD. I just spent more than that to have my violin bow rehaired. I explain that "yes, I want a coil cable because there is a certain tone I want for my instrument." I yet again get another incredulous look. This was after I was led to their selection of cables. They're sold out of coil cables. I wasn't offered to put in an order, or to leave a number for when they were restocked. I'm bummed because I want to support local businesses especially those regarding the arts. But I'm really fed up with how the sales floor employees treat me. I'm probably only going to come back if it's for repairs.

I have to say--Music Land is absolutely incredible. I stopped in for the first time in a long while…read moreon Thursday, 10/30/25, just to browse and talk with the staff about what might be the best fit for my first guitar. They mentioned a Flash Sale happening on 10/31/25, but unfortunately my card wasn't working at the time. Later, I reached out to their Facebook page and received a very kind message from Larry (the owner), who assured me that once my card was working, they would take care of me. And I have to say... they did exactly that. The entire team was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely honest--whether I was looking at a $500 guitar or a $2,000 guitar. Noah spent nearly an hour walking me through different options, answering questions, and helping me narrow down the style and feel of the guitar I truly wanted. In the end, I walked out with a PRS S2 Custom 24-08 in Lake Blue--my first electric guitar, and an absolutely stunning one at that. I couldn't be happier with the choice. So to Larry, Noah, and the whole Music Land staff: thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my experience unforgettable. You've earned a lifelong customer, and I'll definitely be back!

My daughter has been in vocal training at Hunt Valley Music since she was 7 years old. (She is now…read more13). We love it! There are several reasons for the positive review: First, the instructor teaches in an age appropriate manner. At 7, my daughter sang "Hannah Montana", and now, as she auditions more seriously, she is working on both Broadway Musicals and Art Songs. Second, the instructor works hard at improving her range, prioritizes warming up, and challenges her to learn new vocal techniques. ("vibrato" last year, and "runs" this year, for example.) Third, the style is very laid back; the instructor encourages, but never "pushes", which is so important when teaching kids in our opinion. Last, the instructor is "up" on what is going on in the community, from upcoming auditions in children's theater, to age-appropriate shows coming to the Lyric! The voice students have their own small recital at HVM, as this type of training clearly differs from the traditional instrumental variety. It is thoughtful that the "brass" at HVM realize this, and that the instructor gives the kids their own chance to shine vocally. We have not had any problems with make-ups or fees. You pay upfront for the month, and, as long as you call in advance with a conflict, the instructor bends over backwards to work with you to schedule a make-up lesson. (We try hard to be respectful, as does she. Sometimes, though, a huge mountain of homework happens. The teacher gets it!) It is worthy to note that the voice instructor has never missed one of my daughter's shows, and has written several thoughtful recommendations for her over the years when we have needed them. These actions go "above and beyond" in our opinion. Fantastic place for kids who are interested in learning music!

I am genuinely shocked to have to be writing this review. Mark (the owner) threatened my son (his…read moreguitar student) with violence when he let him know he would be quitting lessons. My son has taken lessons with Mark since 2021. He is about to graduate from high school, and told Mark that he will need to wind down lessons as he goes to college. Mark became irrationally upset. He threatened to throw my son's guitar out the door, began swearing, tore up the monthly lessons check and threw it at my son, and raised his fists to challenge him to fight. Thankfully my son had the presence of mind to just leave and get away from him. He came home early from his lesson very distraught. We did call the police to make a report. Apparently Mark's justification for this behavior is that my husband and I didn't talk with him enough about how the lessons were going. He never called us to report anything. Unfortunately we had no idea there was any sort of expectation for us to communicate, and even if there were I can't imagine that reason ever justifying threatening and yelling at a student. I'm so shocked by the end of this years long interaction we've had with Hunt Valley Music, but feel like I absolutely must warn people. He is clearly not a safe person to be teaching children.
