I was referred to Kellie by a woman that I met after I complemented on her perfect asymmetrical haircut, I had a layered hot mess going on, so I made an appointment with Kellie, the place was bustling when I got there, but I was seated on time for my appointment, Kellie was a good listener and accommodated my request which was whatever you do to my hair it has to look good after "wind walks" and when I wake up, also, I am willing to put in about two minutes a day of time into doing my hair right now. Kellie was cool and accommodating, she worried out loud about: "being judged" on this first haircut due to all the weird layers that I already had going on, which told me she really cares about how her clients' cuts look. But not to worry because I ended up with a rock star hair cut that I get compliments on, which is great cause this could have gone real Carol Brady really quick, good thing I chose Kellie at Cutting Edge read more

People are always nice and they get your haircut done fast. The owner is very nice the only thing I would recommend and this isn't necessarily strictly cutting edge the whole valley needs to adapt to the newer style of haircuts. Haven't been to a salon or barber shop that has accurately portrayed exactly what I want. Overall good experience and this is one of the better haircuts I've had in a long time. read more

I do recommend the salon, 3.5 stars more like, as I had a good experience overall with some constructive criticism. The place is busy all day with walk-ins and KOZZ fm radio good old school rock, a mellow vibe, and I was the one with the two hour hair dye job lol. Maira was able to see me just a couple hours notice for a all over dye & blow out appointment. Constructive feedback: dye on my ears, some pulling during hair brushing. She was great though and I'd return. Whole place can use a spring cleaning & love. I'm leaving this review for my brother in law, he doesn't have yelp. This is how they left him. Maria was his stylist and Michael the owner told him to wear a hat. They refused a refund and they didn't even apologize. Their attempt to resolve this was a free haircut next visit. He won't be returning for his free haircut. He has to walk around with his hair like this or shave it off. Very unhappy! Yes Michael this photo was today and yes the original hair cut was over a month ago! Never again!!! My son NEEDED a hair cut on short notice. I called and asked if the had any availability they said yes. I explained I'm a new customer and my son's event and the urgency. Also explained his cowlicks over the phone. I felt they were going to take care of us. My husband took him to the appointment and was considered! The hair dresser kept asking another stylist how to handle the cowlicks. She couldn't even do side burns. My husband was very forward to make sure she squared up his neck and straightened it up. I went in wanting my bangs simply cut! Thinking what stylist could not simply cut your bangs!! Omg there is one there that cannot cut bangs! The little one with the dark hair can't cut bangs! My husband had a haircut and style from a very nice very experienced man who did fantastic job ! Stay away from the little dark hair girl I wish I knew her name but she didn't introduce herself. The salon is not the cleanest I have seen, but Shelby gives a good haircut, and having made an appointment every time I go I have never had to wait. The price is right as well. All I have ever received is a haircut, so I can't speak to other services, but I am happy with what I get. read more

I moved to Carson a couple months ago and needed to find a new hair salon. Not always the easiest thing for a female as many of us are very picky about who touches our hair. I found Cutting Edge on Yelp and found that they had a pretty high rating so I decided to give them a try. I honestly didn't know exactly what I wanted when I arrived at the salon. I showed Malyn a photo of a look I was going for and she informed me that what I wanted was going to take a good portion of the day. I have received about four men's haircuts from Kelli Lauderbaugh at Cutting Edge Hair Salon in Carson City, and she is fantastic!! My wife loves the scissor cuts that Kelli gives me, and tells me to keep going back to her. That won't be a problem! Kelli listens carefully if I want to try a different style, but I've learned to defer to her -- she knows what she's doing. Plus, Kelli is a great conversationalist and has an easy-going personality. I have thick hair with a couple of cowlicks, and Kelli knows how to deal with both of those issues. I can highly recommend Kelli at Cutting Edge Hair Salon. I have also had Shelby cut my hair once when Kelli was out, and Shelby is also an excellent hair stylist. The ladies working here are quick, efficient, and very capable. I saw them cut my son's hair in under 10 minutes where Team Clips would take close to 20 minutes. My son's hair was straight, evenly tapered, and looked very clean. Kudos to them! The salon is small but very clean and well kept. No funny smells, cobwebs, or dirt. They are also open Sundays! Very few salons and barber shops seem to be open on Sundays nowadays. I take one star off because when I tried calling to make an appointment I kept receiving messages saying someone is on the line and I should call back in a few minutes. So, I tried calling every 5 minutes for 15 minutes or so. Same result. I thought maybe they were closed. (?) Good thing we drove by. They were open. Their phone system may have been glitching. I highly recommend going to this salon and getting your hair cut by Aimee! I found this salon through Yelp and saw all the great reviews. The cut I wanted is a very difficult cut - an asymmetrical pixie cut. Plus I have very wavy and thick hair. Aimee hadn't cut a haircut like this before but she arose to the challenge. With a little bit of assistance from another very helpful hair dresser that worked at cutting edge Aimee delivered this amazing hair cut. If she can deliver a hair cut like this that she's never done before can you imagine what kind of haircut she deliver on one she has??!! She is specifically specialized in layering hair cuts. Vicious? I TOLD you before you even started on his hair that he can't hear without his hearing aids. I also told you that if you have issues talking to him let me know and I would sign to him. For the record, when you last cut his hair you did use those scissors with the teeth in them, I saw you. You did an amazing job on his hair and he wanted the same cut. But you were insistent that he was wrong and you never used those scissors and in the next breath how you couldn't remember one customer from the other. Let me tell you this: customers remember how their hair was done even if you don't. It's odd that every time I go in and say to a hair dresser "This is how you (or whoever) did it last time and this is what you/they used" they do it and it turns out right every time. Instead you decided to take exception to my husband's frustration with your rude treatment of him. He was very patient with you and kept his mouth shut and let me handle the situation. However when you decided to just eject him (practically) from your chair because of HIS frustration with YOUR treatment of him, THAT was when I decided you didn't deserve a decent review. When I saw how you greeted prospective customers "Do you have an appointment?" instead of welcoming them into your shop and asking how they could be helped before peremptorily asking about an appointment really was icing on the cake. I stand by my review. If that makes me vicious, then so be it. It still makes you immature and rude and in no way fit to deal with the general public as a considerate, COURTEOUS business owner. If you were having a bad day, that's a shame but at the same time, it's no reason to take it out on PAYING customers, ESPECIALLY those who are kind and courteous until being pushed to the point of saying that they want someone else next time. read more

I had called every place in the area and no one was available. I called here and talked w Elizabeth. She was extremely nice and flexible to schedule me in. I went in today for a walk-in appointment, I have to say what an awesome experience it was. First off, I was greeted by three lovely ladies and was seated at Elizabeth Marie's Chair. She is a Great Stylist. I'm in no way a fashion hair expert so the shear fact that she was able to extract the details from my not great instructions speaks volumes to her patients and skills. I was so looking forward to my haircut, after driving an hour and a half to come down to see Maria, unfortunately she was on vacation. So I get there and I have to go the bathroom after my long drive so I wait patiently outside the bathroom door for a good 15 minutes, when owner walked out, I walked into the bathroom, WOW! it was totally full of cigarette smoke. The owner smokes inside the PUBLIC bathroom in a hair salon WOW!. Before you walk inside salon there's a picnic table right outside with a cigarette butt jar and a place to sit. Wondering why the owner smokes cigarettes in the bathroom which is public in his business which as a salon owner and licensed stylist would conduct his business in this manner, some folks like me have weakened lungs and breathing second hand smoke can lead to breathing issues, than he doesn't say sorry, he said if you don't like it fukkin leave, and was so mean, and than tells me to GTFO. I've gone to the salon several times now, even drove down from Reno when I was living up there. Cassie is simply amazing. I have very fine hair and no one ever seems to cut it right. I always end up walking out a little embarrassed thinking my hair will look a little better in a couple weeks when it gets a chance to grow out. Each time Cassie has dealt with my hair, it looks amazing. No shame, no embarrassment. I showed her a dye job that I wanted done and she threw a little of this and a little of that together is it came out perfect. This recent time I got a pretty simple cut and color but a satisfied customer nonetheless. I'll never let anyone else touch my hair if I can help it.
