Erick is truly skilled at his craft! He came highly recommended by a friend for my 9-year-old son's haircut, and he exceeded our expectations. In the past, I've taken my son to other places all over Southern California, only to leave feeling underwhelmed--the results were so basic, I could've done it myself. But Erick was different. You will quickly tell he has pride in his craft and wants to provide great service to his clients. This is now the only place I go for my haircut. It's also hard to beat the view.

October last year my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Lido House in New Port & fell in love with the area - especially all the local businesses & shops! This week we spent some time on the beach with our entire family & I found some time to slip away and get a neck clean up & fade. I called Oscar and was able to get a walk-in appt at his beautiful new spot. The cut was neat, detailed, and awesome! Hot towel, straight razor clean up, and neck massage - worth the drive for a great cut, awesome views & sea breeze. The only thing better then the view from his shop, is the view of your hair after Oscar is done cutting it. Professional haircuts delivered in an ambiance that helps you escape the work week or start the weekend off with a bang. Make sure to schedule ahead of time if you want to get in the chair on a Friday or Saturday as it gets busy. Definitely the best hot shave in Newport and I wouldn't go anywhere else. This man is the John Wick of bad hair, his cuts kill and his dog is awesome. Highly recommended and I will be back! read more

My fiancé visited Oscar 3 times in the past 5 weeks payed his price plus generous tips every time. Yesterday we had or first scheduling error and mixed up the time. Oscar rescheduled us for later in the day at no point did he mention anything about a cancellation fee or his policy prior to our appointments. When we showed up we waited 15 min for him to finish his appointment before us. After my fiancés service he gave Oscar $60 for his haircut plus a $20 tip a total of $80. Oscar then says btw it's another $60 for missing your appointment earlier. A tip of customer service would be to explain your cancellation policy to all clients prior to making appointments and to also excuse a one time scheduling error for clients who come to you so regularly and who made an honest mistake with the time. Being both business owners ourselves we understand the importance of being on time but we also know people make honest errors and giving one time courtesy doesn't seem like a lot to ask for your clients. The owner reached out and refunded the $60 but after reading Jessica's response below it's clear they continue to make excuses about the cancellation policy and because I booked with him directly I didn't know about it ( it's your job to tell me about the cancellation policy whether I book online or with you directly) A cancellation fee is also not the full amount of the service. And again, we asked to still come in that same day and apologized for mixing up the times. Just say sorry and make it right instead of continuing to make excuses about your policy that wasn't made clear. Also a tip- have a one time courtesy for missed appointments because it happens. read more

Yah... Like all these people are saying: this is *the* place to come get yer cut. Oscar is a magician. No joke. No hype. This guy is a wizard with the clips and blades. I took him a fat round head, two cowlicks, a widow's peak, and a beard that was more Marx than Darwin. An hour later and he sent me out looking like Conor Mcgregor. I'm not sure where to start! I was looking for a haircut close to work and came across this place! When I first got there the vibe was amazing. He offered water and began to cut. I showed him a picture I've shown to other barbers, and UNLIKE those other barbers, my guy was able to knock it out of the park. I can't say enough how happy I found him! My new barber for sure! He also had a super smart French bulldog that kept me company while I waited. Please check this guy out, he can really get your hair right. read more

I've been going to see Shelly for a while now and hands down she gives me the best hair cuts I've ever gotten. She's a perfectionist and always takes her time to make sure that the cut looks great and that I'm happy. She's great at giving suggestions when she thinks something might look good and has really helped me fine tune what I like and what I think looks good on me. This place is great! I've been going here for over a year now and don't plan on going anywhere else. Chill vibes, great harbor views, and a comfortable setting. It's tucked away and I consider it a hidden gem. Oscar is my barber and he just gets it when it comes to cutting hair. As soon as we walked in, they offered both of us a drink. I didn't get anything, but my fiancé got a beer. Another really cool touch was that they provide complimentary shirts to wear during your haircut so you don't get hair all over your clothes. They even have a back room where you can change before and after your appointment -- such a thoughtful detail and something we had never experienced before. We also purchased one of their haircut packages -- I forgot the exact price, but it included 3 haircuts and basically another one free, which felt like a really good deal. The Pro: I always go to Max, and he is incredible. He always makes time for me, and I never have to worry about how my hair is going to turn out. The Value: If I were rating the studio's pricing alone, it would probably be a 3 or a 4. A normal haircut here is about $90, which is undeniably expensive. I know the barbers rent their individual booths and don't set those studio prices, but $90 is a lot for a standard cut. Final Verdict: Even though the price is steep, Max does such a great job that I don't mind paying to see him. I'd follow him anywhere just to cut out the middleman, but as long as he's here, it's worth the investment for a perfect cut.

I came in asking for a rich brown. Instead, I left with a very noticeable red/orange band across the top of my head that doesn't blend with the rest of my hair. I never asked for red hair, and the result is nothing like what I requested. Before I left the salon, after my hair was styled, I pointed out the banding because I could tell something looked off. I was told it looked fine, so I trusted the stylist's professional judgment. Looking back, I wish my concerns had been taken more seriously. I left for a planned trip to Europe shortly after my appointment, so I wasn't able to come back immediately. However, as soon as I returned, I repeatedly tried contacting my stylist and left multiple messages. I never received a response. When I finally spoke with the salon, I expected them to stand behind their work and correct the color. Instead, I was told I would have to pay again for an all-over color to fix a result that wasn't what I had asked for in the first place. At this point, I'll likely have to go to another salon for a professional color correction. Between what I already paid here and what it will cost to fix, I'm out around $500 or more. If achieving a rich brown on my hair wasn't something they were confident they could do, I wish they had been upfront about that before starting the service. I would have appreciated that honesty far more than ending up with a color I didn't ask for and an expensive correction process.

I was referred to Oscar and told that he does a great job not only on haircuts but beards and straight razor neck shaves. figured I would give him a shot. I got down to his shop and it is literally right in front of the harbor in Newport. from his haircut chair I am watching boats go by. very serene vibe. he spent just over an hour on me and he did amazing. he is a perfectionist and I will be going back and referring him to my bros. Oscar is the best at what he does, he has been cutting my hair for the past 10 years. His shop is right on Newport Harbor so you can watch boats go by while you get your hair cut.
